Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Dec-2016
Country House near Bridgwater, Somerset, England - Victorian Country House set in Glorious Gardens in a Peaceful Location 5 miles From M5 in Somerset.

Model Farm is a country house consisting of an impressive Victorian front to a 17th century farmhouse and cider barn. The accommodation consists of the main part of the house sleeping 25 in 10 bedrooms with 8 bath/showers. The Victorian area retains many of the original features, there is a large kitchen/diner and a large lounge with seating on leather Chesterfields. Their is a second kitchen/diner in the Cider Barn with table football table and just outside a large covered loggia with BBQ area suitable for outside dining. There are 4 acres of glorious gardens with a new Hot Tub and patio area, there is plenty of seating throughout the grounds with a croquet lawn, lots of outdoor games and ample off road parking.

Model Farm is situated in the hamlet of Perry Green only 8 minutes by car from Bridgwater, yet in the peace and quiet of the country. Junctions 23 and 24 of the M5 are only 5 miles away. The Quantock Hills are a short drive away and there are plenty of footpaths in the area with some excellent walking where you can visit the many pubs in the local area for a great lunch or dinner. The village of Cannington with its pubs and gardens is a pleasant walk away and also has a golf course, horse riding, paintball/laser shooting and an adventure climbing area.

About the Owner

We moved into Model Farm in the summer of 2009, Model Farm was then a B&B and it took some time to convert part of the house into a self catering apartment. I spent many years in I.T. until redundancy gave a change of direction to a gardening business. On selling our house we have decided to work together on our own project of developing a beautiful garden and improving a very impressive old house. My wife, Roz previously worked in the health service but now enjoys being her own boss.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is an ideal place for a family get together, with spacious rooms and a safe garden for the 'tots'. We were made to feel very welcome and find out hosts kind, thoughtful & generous. Despite the November weather the house is warm and Dave kindly kept us supplied with firewood. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we hope to be back in the future.

What a lovely house and grounds! We really appreciated the attention to detail & all the little touches that made the house so welcoming.

The R & G family

A perfect get-away for us city dwellers. The house is absolutely beautiful. It felt like we time travelled back to the 18th century, but with WiFi & other modern facilities! Thank you for providing everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely recommend this beautiful place & hospitality to all our friends and family back home, and also plan to re-visit our memories in future. N & P S, P & SS, A& DA.

This property and its owners deserve the 5 star rating that they hold on trip advisor. Dave and Roz were always keen to help and keep the house and gardens immaculate, this encourages guests to maintain this standard. The location is secluded but a 5 minute drive gets you to 3 very good pubs with good food or excellent Fish and Chips. our family group which varied from 14 to 19 people never felt crowded as their is ample sitting areas and areas for the kids to play. I am going to give this same review on trip advisor and would whole heartedly recommend this venue to any one planning a large family/group getaway.
