'Languedoc' is a two bedroom cottage with both bedrooms en-suite. Languedoc sleeps 4.
We have configured the top floor of Languedoc into a master double bedroom suite with shower room, and the downstairs bedroom is set up as a twin-bedded room with its own shower room.
Languedoc overlooks the pool, and has a private terrace and views in three directions.
Through the entrance doors to the left of the terrace, you enter the lounge area with well equipped fitted kitchen (with dishwasher and washing machine). The lounge gives access to the downstairs bedrooom which also has patio windows opening directly onto the terrace overlooking the pool, this bedroom has an en-suite shower room.
From the rear of the lounge a stairway winds to the upstairs master suite comprising a large double bedroom (5mx3m) with triple aspect views (including the Pyrénées) and an en-suite shower room.
Languedoc has electric heating and is suitable for use all year round.
All the gites have free wi-fi, superbly equipped kitchens with a dishwasher and washing machine, English TV and a private terrace or garden with sun beds, stone built barbecue, patio table and chairs and magnificent views of the countryside and/or the Pyrenees. We are on the edge of a pretty village, ten minutes from the medieval town of Mirepoix, with its restaurants, cafes, weekly market and summer festivals. Carcassonne, the 3rd most popular tourist attraction in France, is 30 minutes. Our regional leisure lake Lac de Montbel, with 1500 acres of water, beach and restaurant, is ten minutes away. The Mediterranean beaches are one hours drive. The extensive vineyards of the Languedoc are within 30 minutes. Extensive walking, cycling and angling, boating, and horse riding is available 'on the doorstep' in the Pyrenees and the Medieval Chateaux of the Cathars surround the area - Montsegur, the 'last stronghold' is 20 minutes away.
We are both from Bristol then worked in London and around the world before leaving the nine to five behind, selling everything in the UK and coming out to France. Our business now is providing luxury accommodation for summer holidays and longer term winter lets - very different to the office, but much more satisfying. Helping us around the property are our four 4-legged lawnmowers: two horses Rajah and Safi, and 2 donkeys Willow and Holly. Always happy to say hello and dispose of unwanted vegetables and bread! We are heavily involved in the life of our village and local area, working with our conseil municipale and local tourist office and we have relationships with many businesses offering attractions and activities for visitors.
Dave and Kath purchased this cottage in 2002
Having holidayed in the south of France as children, we re-discovered the lovely medieval town of Mirepoix when it was featured on an episode of 'A place in the sun' in 2001 and thought 'why not go to France ourselves'? We re-located to France in 2002 and purchased L'Enclos, 10 minutes from Mirepoix. It had been a working farm until the 1970's when the farmhouse and barns started to be converted into gites by the previous french owner, and we have since renovated each of the gites in turn. L'Enclos is our home, owned and run by the two of us - whether that be the preparation of the gites during changeovers or improving the facilities off-season. Each year we enjoy welcoming guests and introducing them to the wonders of this little-known corner of France.
Our village nestles in the foothills of the Pyrenees. 400m above sea level, but with the 3000m peaks 20 mins drive away. Every active sport you can think of is on the doorstep, from paragliding to hill walking via watersports. The Tour de France passes close by and the area is a favourite for cyclists & mountain bikers. We are an hour from the Mediterranean beaches, and enjoy a mild climate. For those that prefer a gentler pace, the roads are quiet and the scenery is spectacular - you can tour the mountains from the comfort of the driving seat! We have many driving and walking tours; vineyards to visit; weekly markets; wildlife and wild flowers (esp. the orchids in spring / early summer). For foodies, Mirepoix (at 10mins) has over 20 restaurants to suit all tastes.

We have just returned from a month in Languedoc Gite. Yes I said a month!! We found Kath and Dave to be fantastic hosts. The Gite was fully equipped with everything we needed. We ate in a lot so the well equipped kitchen was ideal. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms were the ideal for the amount of accommodation that we needed as a family. Our 12 year old daughter and nine year old son had loads of freedom as the setting is very child friendly. A fabulous pool was well availed of and the kids lived in the games room. Our dog was also well caterted for! We met some lovely people over the month, familes and couples alike. Kath and Dave's knowledge of the area emense! They are very genial hosts and we can't wait to return!
