Apartment in Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca, Balearic Islands - Situated on the Main Square in the Heart of Puerto Pollensa Within 1 Minute Walk of the Seafront

The apartment has recently been extensively refurbished and now provides comfortable, well proportioned accommodation over 2 floors. The building is entered via the square and the apartment entrance is on the second floor. On this floor, there are 3 double bedrooms, 1 with en-suite bathroom, shower room and laundry room/cloakroom. An interior staircase leads to the large open-plan living area, which incorporates a built-in kitchen, with access to a large, private, partly covered roof terrace that has lovely, far-reaching views over the mountains, town and across part of the bay of Pollensa. There is air-conditioning/heating throughout the apartment. Its central location offers easy, level pedestrian access to all parts of the Port: Pine Walk, the beaches and seafront, mountains walks, restaurants, supermarkets, shops, as well as the municipal tennis courts and swimming pool. The square is a safe recreational area which hosts many events and fiesta activities during the summer.

Superb apartment

  • 5 of 5

Very nicely refurbished, the apartment is right on the square so very easy access to all the main facilities of Puerto Pollenca, but as it is at the rear of the block, you get no disturbance when there are late night activities in the square, such as the market. So ideal for families with smaller children where getting them to sleep is important. Very effective air con - we'd definitely come again.

Location

From the Owner

The main square of Puerto Pollensa is a very important part of the port. It is the hub of Spanish social life, particularly in the light evenings. Whether it is just to have a coffee and catch up with friends, to let the kids kick a ball around in safety, to have a meal out or to enjoy one of the many fiesta activities that take place there throughout the year, there is always activity, people, life in the square. The apartment offers holidaymakers the truly Spanish experience; plenty of life, relaxation, sun, shade, bars, restaurants, safe play for children on the doorstep. And, to top it all, a large private roof terrace. As soon as we saw it, we knew we had to have it even in its original state. We just had to renovate it!

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The closest beach is a minute from the apartment directly off the pedestrianised seafront. The beaches are sandy and the water is generally calm. The beach drops gently and there is very little tide so it is very suitable for families. Further around the bay, the beaches are wider and offer a variety of watersports. Sunbeds and shades are available for rent on most sections of the beach. There are a wide variety of boat hire companies for those with International Certificate of Competence.

Travel:

The only commercial airport, Son Sant Juan, is located near Palma. The drive to Puerto Pollensa takes about an hour by car/taxi (@ 80€) or slightly longer by bus as the bus goes via Palma.

Distances:

It is about 8km to Pollensa and Alcudia old towns, both of which are stereotypically beautiful Mallorquin towns. The whole island is easy accessible by car and a trip up into the mountains to Lluc or any of the mountain villages, ie. Fornalutx or Estellencs is well worth it. Palma is about 65km away and has many historic buildings, gorgeous shops, a delightfully preserved centre with traditional markets, restaurants and museums.

Further Details:

The Port offers access to a range of sports all year round. It is bliss for walkers, climbers, bikers and birdwatchers through the winter. In the summer, calm seas provide easy boating and water sports and light breezes speed along windsurfers and kite surfers. In the Port, there is an indoor pool, community tennis courts, squash courts and a range of sports clubs and facilities, including gyms, volleyball, sailing, canoeing, yoga etc. There is a range of shops and restaurants to suit every taste, supported by the necessary banks and peripheral services. A weekly market is held on Wednesdays in the main square (early to 1.30pm) and on Sundays in Pollensa. Both markets offer a range of arts and crafts, jewellery, clothing and leather goods as well as fruit and vegetables and household goods. The main Port fiestas take place at the beginning of July and last for a week, during which most nights there are live concerts and dancing in the square, culminating in a fabulous firework display on the beach at midnight. The annual Pollensa fiesta, the Moors and Christians, takes place at the beginning of August and features the reenactment of the invasion of Pollensa by the Moors and the defence by the victorious Pollençins. A great rout for all to enjoy. There is a fiesta or celebration every month, January - Sant Antoni, when they fight to climb a 20m pine tree in the square; February -Carnival, San Jordi - festival of books, April - Pollensa wine festival, June - San Pedro, patron saint of fisherman, November - Fira of Pollensa, a 3-day event of dancing, animals fashion displays, good food and fine wine. All around the port stretch the Tramuntana mountains full of interesting walks that go from Pollensa to Andratx in the southernmost tip of the island. Formentor, pretty unspoiled beaches to the north of Pollensa, and the bay of Alcudia are a boat drive away via daily ferry. Bus connections are easy to Pollensa, Alcudia, Playas de Muro and Cala San Vicente.
