Sunny, comfortable & well decorated apt - Peaceful & Pretty Location With Spacious Gardens Only 5 Minutes From Town, Sea And Beaches

This is a unique private, independent and comfortable apartment forming part of a fully restored traditional stone finca. Roomy, bright, clean and very welcoming, it has a lovely antique carved double bed, comfy sofa & plenty of storage, free view UK satellite flatscreen TV, CD player, ipod dock & free wifi. There is a fully tiled modern bathroom with walk in rainfall shower and separate kitchen with marble worktops and seating. The apartment is well decorated with local original artworks and quality linens and towels. Outside is a pretty private terrace with chairs and table, complete with lighting and candles, looking across the koi pond to the large & sunny pool and gardens. The gardens are spacious with evening lighting, mature shrubs, palm and many fruit trees (pomegranate, pink grapefruit, orange etc), varied terraces and beautiful pool area with umbrellas, hammock, teak sunbeds, gazebo & comfy cushions. Next to the pool area is an outdoor traditional Mallorcan kitchen including a BBQ with antique pizza oven and marble ‘tree’ table. The apt also has its own private BBQ. Set alongside some pretty lanes, ideal for walking, cycling and riding and with easy access to all the many facilities, great restaurants and scenic bars of the lovely Porto Colom town and bay. A friendly, relaxing, unique and truly comfortable apartment in a traditional setting with all modern facilities even a dolce gusto coffee maker :) and central heating for out of season breaks or longer stays (subject to Tenancy laws/rules/acts of Baleares, Spain). The working finca also has a separately available independent casita.

About The Owner

We love Mallorca very much and spend as much time as possible gardening, working on and maintaining our special home in the sun (broken up with lots of good local wine, dips in the pool and swims in the sea of course!

Why The Owner chose Felanitx

It has such character and life, the old stone is beautiful and the gardens and wonderful views out towards the coast just made us fall in love with it from the first moment.

What makes this apartment unique

The style of the apartment is pretty unique, there's some interesting artwork from local artists, original antique marble top side tables and an antique carved double bed which make the inside so comfy but unusual. The little terrace overlooks the fish pond and although there is garden lighting, we also have lanterns and candles to add to the special feeling and wonderful atmosphere.

The apartment is situated in the beautiful almond fields just above Porto Colom, with all facilities within easy reach. There is a covered balcony immediately outside the apartment, with table and chairs surrounded by bougainvilla and looking out across the gardens and fish pond and pool area. The pool and gardens have pretty lighting for evening dining. The gardens have many mature shrubs, fruit trees and plants, various patios & terraces, a new gazebo platform, a large sunny pool with power jets, good sunbeds, umbrellas, hammock, dining tables and chairs. There is a separate BBQ area with traditional Mallorcan pizza oven (antique) and a marble table around a central shady tree, next to an interesting and well stocked pond, nicely lit and tiled. The house has been fully restored with soft water systems and a beautiful garden. It has a traditional tower main entrance as well as a separate guest casita, chickens and a daft friendly small dog. The route to the beaches is scenic & pleasant for walkers and bikers (there is a particularly pleasant country lane direct to Porto Colom – or a main road if preferred). Both rural and rustic routes abound and are well marked. Cyclists particularly enjoy the area in early and late season, with the flowers in full bloom. Driving is simple and well signposted. Aircon is available at a daily rate, please enquire. A washing machine, iron and ironing board are situated in a separate utility area. Good quality linen and towels are included and a midstay change is offered for stays of more than 14 days

Very relaxing,perfect base for exploring the south east of the island.

We have just came back from 10 days in the finca. Jamie and Yvonne are lovely hosts. The property has everything you could want from a holiday rental. The gardens and pool were lovely and thir wee dogs entertained us for hours. One of the most relaxing holidays we have had. Very rural but a short drive about 5 mins gets you to the port. 10 mins to Cala d’Or. It was an excellent base to explore the south eastern part of the island. May 18 Kim and Andrew

The perfect place to relax and unwind

This was our fifth consecutive stay at the Finca and we love it here. The apartment has everything you need for two people including a lovely veranda overlooking the pool. James & Yvonne are always welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The location is quiet and peaceful especially at night and the perfect place to unwind. The property is always spotless and well maintained and we would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Property did not meet the standards as described in the publicity

We had no regular supply of hot water for 10 days, and for several days we had water on demand, in other words, we had to advise the owner when we wanted a shower. When the supply was partially fixed we had low water pressure and an intermittent supply of very salty cold water. The access to the shower is very difficult to negotiate. The light in the kitchen was broken and we needed to use a table lamp for 4 days in an already cramped space. The owner seemed very reluctant to engage professional help to sort things out. This apartment is not luxurious; the kitchen is cell like with minute breakfast bar; eating outside was difficult because of mosquitoes. The bedroom/lounge is small. Incessant howling and barking from neighbouring dogs makes sleep difficult, in addition to a menagerie of wild poultry throughout the garden. The suggestion that the nearest beach is 0.2 kilometres away is deceptive as the property is at least 1.5 kilometres from the outskirts of Portocolom, which makes it a taxi ride rather than a walk if taking beach gear. TV reception continually fragmented. The refrigerator and wifi functioned properly.

Owner's Response: Oh dear what a shame you said nothing whilst here :( as you know the prior guest reported a bad leak the day before you arrived so, with only a weekend in between?? the plumber & electrician came at 8am Monday and restored the shower & replaced the light cable, affected by the leak, straight away? We went out of our way to help with extra lights, offering use of another shower, taking you shopping, driving you to town, even doing your washing! and generally offering you any assistance we could think of through your entire stay. We are, as advertised just outside of town, in beautiful countryside, a pleasant walk in cool times or v v short drive but we do recommend a car in hot weather.... In fact we strongly encouraged you before booking to hire one, but you opted not to do so. The kitchen has plenty of space for 2 with a breakfast bar, coffee, tea, coffee maker, fridge/freezer etc All is regularly renewed and always cared for. The Tv has excellent reception, and we did explain how to use other regions on Sky rather than just trying London :( but we are sorry if a distant neighbour had a dog that barked intermittently :( In any event, despite trying our very best and not hearing a single complaint from you on the numerous occasions we spoke, laughed and joked together... we are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay.

Very pleasant - matches the description well

Owners very helpful without being fussy or "in your face". Property is fairly compact but easily big enough for the 2 of us. Comfortable bed. All quiet - apart from a few barks and cock a doodle's. Pool very clean and inviting.

Porto Colom is about a mile away - we walked in a few times, but hard work in the heat!

We had no problems at all. Deposit returned quickly. Very happy to recommend the property.

Just 5 minutes from the beautiful traditional old town of Porto Colom and its quiet blue sheltered bays, its wonderful fishing llauts (small boats) and many quality restaurants and bars. The nearby blue flag Cala Marcal beach is a large horseshoe bay of golden sand and a real suntrap! whilst the pretty beaches of Colom bay are all ideal for snorkelling, kayaks, swimming and sunbathing, with clean, clear blue waters & pine trees providing shade and unique picnic areas. The private beach at Cala Sanau and the 2 miles of protected sands and dunes of Mondrago (voted one of The Times Worlds Best Beaches) are also easily reached from the finca whilst 15mins away is the 'noisier' tourist resort of Cala d'Or, which has seven small beaches and all the accompanying resort activities such as banana boats and paragliding etc.

40 minutes drive from the airport and Palma (we can offer discounted door to door transfers if required). Also within easy distance are many scenic inland villages and traditional markets, numerous beautiful calas and bays. The area is very popular with walkers, riders and cyclists with some pretty lanes and pathways, well signposted and easy to use. A car is useful in the hot months for those special beach picnics, endless shopping opportunities and to explore the beautiful private calas and inland villages of the area. Porto Colom centre has all the supermarkets, shops, bars, banks and restaurants expected of a medium sized traditional village and has several well known restaurants on the bay, including HPC, Colon and SaLlotja which draw visitors from all over the island.

Further Details:

Porto Colom is completely self-contained for all day to day needs. It allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of a main tourist centre, whilst being nearby to all those attractions should they be wanted. The local bars, cafés, restaurants, spa shops, banks, bakers, butchers and market provide everything needed for a wonderful stay. There is also a small jewellers, beautiful craft shops, antique shops and decorative and dress shops. The local church is open for visitors and the pretty harbour has a play area for children and is often host to local fiestas, plays and open air dinners. A lovely local market is held weekly. Diving, cycling, ballooning, horse riding, sailing, quad tours, spa facilities, motorbikes etc are all available close by.

The apartment is available for long or short term rental definited by the Tenancy laws of Spain and subject to the relevant Tenancy Acts :)
