Glad it was not freezing

  • 2 of 5

Billed as having oil fired CH we found that this unit took its heating from 2 sources. Never all on together and not much in the evening. The open log fire looked pretty (when you could get it going) but did not deliver enough heat to make up for the shortfall. Hot water ran out quickly in the morning when all units occupied and not all showers in the Spa worked either. Just as well it was not freezing! Wife and I had the GF en suite bedroom. Not much room but we managed. Nice big shower tray but a fixed head down only directed shower - an abomination . No flexibility and not much pressure. If you do not want to get a wet head, don't forget your shower caps. A corner shelf in the cubicle would have been handy for the soap, shower stuff etc or what ever you want to use in there. Not well provided for hooks in there either. Just one small plastic stick-on hook over the thoughtfully provided grab rail. No where else for your towel, clothing etc. Could have put 2 rails across inside the door (high and medium height) for the towels as nowhere else for them to hang/dry off. No pulls (in or out) for the door. Oh, and the extract fan did not work either. Beds did seem tolerably comfortable though. We found a nice friendly pub, The Stag, in nearby West Acre. Typical country pub food sensibly priced. Selection of beers but 2 wines only (red and white) and none the worse for that. If you want posh, go elsewhere but this ticks the right boxes for me as a no nonsense proper country pub.
