The tranquil, well established garden provides both sun traps and shade. To make the most of the outdoors, we provide garden tables with plenty of chairs and sun loungers. La Georgiere is a welcoming, detached, traditional family farmhouse set within half an acre of peaceful gardens, in the heart of the beautiful, rolling Vendeen countryside. Visitors can enjoy boules, table tennis, badminton and barbequing (local sardines are a specialty!). A safe, quiet cycle track runs for miles across the countryside to the rear of the house, which is great for both adults and children. With the forest in one direction and the coast in the other, it caters for both casual and keen cyclists. The beaches of the Vendeen coast are stunning, and are regularly awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness and water quality. Wide expanses of beautiful sandy beaches stretch for miles on end in this region, offering safe bathing, waves for body boarding/surfing and rock pools at low tide in some areas.

A truly wonderful property, set within the most magnificent gardens you could wish for. Everything you need and more for a self catering holiday. Like home from home with good quality kitchen ware, washing machine etc, not to mention the abundance of books, DVDs and games for the children (and adults). We cycled to the local town which was perfectly safe along a quiet cycle path. So much to see and do. A great location to be in as it's accessable to numerous beaches and towns. Perfect house to get away for a peaceful break even with the kids. Highly recommended.

This is a great house for families. I went with my wife and three kids one who has special needs. The place has a great safe garden and the owners make toys books DVDs games available, everything a family could need. The house is in a lovely out of town location yet everything you need is no more than five minutes away. You are no more than 2 5mins from the lovely Vendee coast. Really worth adding to your shortlist.

Activity and Interests


The beaches of the Vendeen coast are beautiful offering safe, clean water for bathing and water sports. Our closest main beach is the Grande Plage at St Gilles Croix de Vie which takes about 20 minutes in the car. A huge expanse of gently sloping soft sand patrolled by lifeguards in high season, its shallows are perfect for young and old for paddling and swimming, or use designated areas for body boarding/surfing. At Sion sur L'Ocean, the coastal path rises above cliffs creating tranquil coves.


Nantes Airport (1 hour); La Rochelle Airport (1 hour 15 minutes).

6 hours from Calais/Boulogne; 4 hours from Caen; 3 hours from St. Malo.

Use of car essential.


Approx 5 min drive to the thriving market town of Aizenay, or cycle along the path (15 - 20 mins). Local vineyards for tasting/buying lovely wine, including bubbly! 5 mins and 15 mins. Lakes and rivers within 15 min drive.

Fantastic beaches approx 20 min drive. Grand Parc Puy de Fou large, medieval theme park with spectacular light show 1 hour. Challans traditional market with fantastic produce 20 min. La Rochelle 60 min. Ile de Noirmoutier 60 mins. Venise Verte 60 min.

Further Details:

Aizenay is a 5 minute drive. A pretty market town with a beautiful church dominating the centre, offering bakers, patisseries, restaurants, bars, summertime outdoor swimming pool, a hypermarket and other shops. A market visits on the first and third Mondays of the month, and annual street festivals are held in this and other villages which are typical of rural France.

Aizenay is at the centre of a cycle route that runs through 30 kms of quiet countryside along the path of an old railway line. This path passes by the fields at the back of the house, and is a lovely way to explore the surrounding area. The town is situated on the edge of a 228 hectare forest which is criss-crossed with foot and cycle routes, and is easily accessible via the cycle path to the rear of the farmhouse.

Surrounding countryside offers opportunities for walking, cycling, bird watching, golf and fishing. Lakes and villages within the setting of rural France can be explored from the property, whilst stunning expanses of beautiful sandy beaches are within a 20 minute drive.

We are close to two lakes : Lac du Jaunay has a footpath encircling the entire lake, with lovely areas for picnics as well as a small restaurant housed in a beautiful old ‘longere’ on the banks of the lake.

Lac d’Apremont is 10 minutes away where the picturesque, unspoilt village of Apremont clings to the rocky sides of the Vie valley, dominated by the romantic ruins of a Renaissance chateau. A dam has created a large lake offering boating, canoeing and fishing as well as a lakeside beach with children’s play area. It is lovely to swim in during the summer, especially for children.

St. Gilles and Croix de Vie are lovely twin harbour towns on the banks of the River Vie which have regular markets, pretty shops and great places to eat. A ferry makes the 65 minute crossing to the Ile de Yeu which is a popular and picturesque island.

The famous Challans market (20 mins) perfect for buying local fish for the BBQ!

    A deposit of 20% is required upon booking the property, with the remaining balance due 8 weeks prior to the start of the rental period. Bookings made within 8 weeks of the start of your holiday need to be paid in full in advance of the start of the rental period.

    Changeover Day:
    Changeover day is Thursday, as we find flights, ferries are cheaper and the roads much clearer. However, we offer flexibility wherever we can.

  • Outside: The house is set within beautiful gardens of half an acre, including lawns, flower gardens and lovely trees to offer some shade from the summer sun. Our family and guests love the garden, so we have plenty of garden furniture; tables, chairs and sunloungers and a large barbecue to enjoy eating outside on warm evenings. We also have badminton, table tennis and boules for visitors to enjoy. Utility Room: A large conservatory accessible from the kitchen houses the washing machine, additional sink/draining board, and is a great place to keep beach and outdoor equipment during your stay. It's a bright, sunny room and some guests use it to relax and read. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen can be provided : £10 per single & £20 per double/kingsize set. The house is thoroughly cleaned prior to arrival, and we ask that its left clean/tidy, with rubbish/recycling disposed of. A 140 pound sterling damage/clean deposit is required.
