Apartment in LAlpe D'Huez, Isere, Rhone-Alpes, France - Quiet Location, Stunning View

The apartment is 28m2 and is situated at road level in a quiet, modern block in L'Eclose Ouest. The apartment is child friendly as the owners have previously lived there with a toddler for 5 months at a time. Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, combination microwave/oven, TV/DVD, hi-fi/CD player, south facing balcony and ski locker room. The lift system, shops and restaurants of L'Eclose are close by and it's only a short walk to the main resort of Alpe d'Huez with it's many bars and restaurants, an ice rink, 2 swimming pools and a leisure centre. About Ginny McDermott

We have owned this apartment since 2004, modernised it over a couple of years and have lived in it with our son for several seasons, both winter and summer. In our absence the apartment is looked after by my sister, who will be there to provide the keys, clean linen and any onsite help.

We have family living in the resort and we wanted our own 'place in the sun'. The resort is known as the Island in the Sun and it certainly lives up to its name.

"We have now returned home after having spent two weeks in your apartment in Alpe d'Huez and just wanted to let you know that we had a really great time. The apartment was really comfortable and we were very pleased with the ease with which we could reach the slopes and also with the shops and facilities so close to hand. Rocky Sports serviced our skis during the afternoon of our arrival and we were able to buy our lift passes from the office almost next door very easily. We enjoyed returning a little early from the slopes to enjoy the marvelous view from the apartment in the late afternoon sunshine."

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The apartment block is mainly owned by French families who holiday for just a few of weeks each season, therefore it is usually pretty quiet with ample parking on the road outside. Locally there is a boulangerie, a supermarket, a rotisserie, several ski/cycle hire shops, an ESF/SATA liftpass office and a couple of restaurants. Access to the lift system is via the L'Eclose piste or the Bergers chair lift behind the shops. There is also a free shuttle bus from upper L'Eclose to the main ski areas. Cleaning / Towels / Linen Linen and towels provided. Other: Hallway: washing machine, coat and boot racks, storage cupboard. South facing balcony. Ski locker in locker room on the floor below.

Fab holiday

Lovely apartment with stunning picturesque views which change daily with the weather. Nice quiet location but close enough to everything that you need.

Brilliant snow conditions and the kids loved it.

I will be booking again soon for next years stay.

Fantastic skiing holiday for our family

The directions to the apartment were spot on! Gerry was there to meet and greet us. The apartment is small, but it is perfect for the 4 of us. Our children slept so well in the comfy bunk beds as did we on the sofa bed. The apartment is fully equipped with everything you need and more! It is so warm, we didn't need heating! The slopes are minutes away, the girls were able to carry there own skis, so that's how close they are. (9&11) the restaurants, supermarkets and ski hire were all minutes away. Staff here were alll fab. Would we go back...yes! Thank you for a wonderful time. Oh the view...worth every penny! Wow!!

Grenoble airport 1.5 hrs (Bensbus daily transfers in winter), Lyon airport 2 hrs (SATAbus transfer), Chambery airport 2 hrs, Geneva airport 3hrs (VFD transfer - change Grenoble). Drive time from Calais approx 9 hrs, Nice 5hrs. Follow Rocade Sud in Grenoble to Sisteron and Gap. Exit 8 marked Briancon, Vizille and Stations de Oisans and follow Bourg d'Oisans.

Basking high up on a sunny plateau Alpe D’Huez is situated at an altitude of 1860 m. It is a paradise for all mountain sports enthusiasts offering 238kms of pistes, floodlit skiing, snowparks, halfpipes and plenty of thrilling off piste runs. WHAT FUN! The ski area is very comprehensive starting around the resort with beginner slopes; the higher you go the more difficult the runs become. When you reach the highest point, Pic Blanc at 3330m, intermediates can have great fun on the slopes of the glacier or if you are at an advanced level then there's the challenging Tunnel - a steep black mogul run - or the gentler Sarenne - a black run which claims to be the longest in Europe at 16kms. All areas are well equipped with mountain restaurants offering delicious food. The resort also boasts an ice rink, outdoor swimming pool and leisure centre - indoor pool, climbing / bouldering walls, overhead rope walk, table tennis.
