Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

My Name is Matthew Clayton and I live in Dentdale with my partner Ella and my 3 boys who all go to the local school. We enjoy walking, travelling and family time together, we always book cottages for our holidays, it's a great way to spend quality time together. I have worked the length & breath of the UK for the last 25 years and Dentdale is a very special place, tucked away on the far West of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and just inside the Cumbrian border, Dentdale is a great place to start your adventure & holiday.

After the last week at Hazel Cottage, I am now sat at my desk writing this and truly missing my morning wake up call as the sun came streaming throughtth ebedroom window. We had some amazing walks and strolls through Dent and down to the village followed by great foodat Meadowside and the George and Dragon. The cottage has everything you need, fire, kitchen, stream, views, comfort and accesibility. Our dog Bruce had a whale of a time bombing about in the garden and through the fields. The meditation centre is also a must, unfortunately we didn't get chance to do a class but will most definately be back and will most definately be staying at Hazel or Bridge cottage. Thank you for a lovely stay and we would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a walking or r and r break in the dales.

Thank you again

Location

From the Owner

Bridge cottage & Hazel cottage was a tea shop & B&B back in the 60's, 70's & 80's a place to stop and have lunch whilst doing the Dales way, or cycling past. The properties are over 200 years old and we have totally renovated them both in 2010 with great love & care, our focus of attention was to restore the character of the buildings with the finest of materials & achitectual design. Hazel cottage is a cute bolt hole for 2, whilst Bridge cottage is a spacious open plan design which sleeps up to 6. Both properties are next to each other and can be rented for a party of 8.

Just relax and take in the views, sit and have lunch by the stream. The viewing deck balcony at Bridge cottage offers endless sitting and enjoyment by the stream, the well constructed bridge over Oliver's Gyhl was built by Oliver Cronwell. Use the private garden whilst staying at Hazel, it's a great place for a picnic or to paddle your feet in the stream. Dentdale is only 10 miles from the M6 turn off to Kendal (Lake District) and on the door step to the Yorkshire Dales, including Hawes, Ingleton and the cosmopolitan town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Once you have been to Dentdale you will always want to come back.
