About Mary Bentley

My husband, children and I moved to this area from London 14 years ago. Herrieff's Cottage is an old coach house which was part of Herrieff's Farm. The farm is no longer a working farm but we live at the farmhouse which is located on the other side of the gate. We pride ourselves on offering personal service to all our guests and are always nearby to offer help or assistance, if needed! We look forward to welcoming you to Herrieff's Cottage and please contact us if you have any queries.

Mary Bentley purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Mary Bentley chose North Oxfordshire

We moved here from London primarily because our eldest child was due to start school and the time to move would never be easy after that. This is a great location with ease of access to the M40 which gets us to London in an hour and connects us with friends and family all over the country. We enjoy the peace and quiet of village life. We are surrounded by public footpaths and can walk for miles with the children and the dogs!

Guestbook comments from the owner

'Delightful, cosy country retreat. See you next year'. G. Miles, Somerset

'What a hidden gem! Love the fruit cake and flowers'. B. Berry, Cumbria

'Our third visit and definitely not our last. The dogs love the walks as much as us!' M. Jackson, Swindon

Well-furnished and nicely equipped and clean. We really enjoyed our stay, keeping warm and cosy in the Spring weather. Our two dogs were made welcome too.

Lovely cottage perfect for winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely three nights in the cottage between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Mary and Justin had put up a Christmas tree and left some delicious cake for us. Loads of country walks nearby and there are a number of pamphlets in the cottage to point you in the right direction. Would definitely come again.

Superb cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cottage in the quaint and charming village of North Newington. The cottage has all the modern amenities, including dishwasher and wifi, yet retains its country feel with exposed beams and rustic decor. Also the location is ideal for walkers as there are numerous paths crisscrossing the fields and meadows surrounding the village. All in all, a truly memorable stay, one which we intend to repeat soon!
