About The Owner

Our names are John and Janice. We have 3 children who like us, adore Greece, the culture, the people and of course the cuisine. We spent several years in search of a private villa on one of the Greek islands. Our dream was realised when we first came to Skopelos after seeing the island featured in the TV series "A Place in the Sun". Since we purchased the villa, we have spent many hours (of pleasure) renovating and improving the pool side and terraces, so as to maximise the beautiful views and features of the villa. We currently live in central England in a place called Bewdley and always look forward to returning to our dream home in Skopelos.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2009

Why The Owner chose Sporades

After looking at several villas, we fell in love with this particular villa for many reasons, the views, the peace and quiet location, the fact it was a home with lots of character and had been built to high standards. Also, the fact that it had every modern convenience needed and as it had full central heating, meant we could come all year round. The people on the island are really welcoming and friendly and we have made some very close friends over the last few years. Villa Aeolos has a lot of land attached to it, which currently is home to many old olive, oak, fir and fig trees. Last year we had the pool side landscaped with a pool bar and barbecue area added, which has really enhanced the outside living space.

What makes this villa unique

The location of Villa Aeolos has beautiful 360 degree views showing different aspects of the island. It is also convenient for exploring the island's wonderful beaches, monasteries and walking/hiking observing the stunning wildlife and plants. Also as it is close to Skopelos town, we can enjoy the fabulous restaurants and nightlife, that is when we are not entertaining ourselves and friends at the villa.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We loved our stay at your villa, it was definitely just what we both needed after the hectic wedding week. The outdoor space was excellent and we spent many a day relaxing and sunning ourselves. I could not fault it at all - we would love to visit again!

Best regards,

Jemma "

"We had an absolutely wonderful time on holiday thanks – it already seems a long time ago now! Your villa is completely amazing – so spacious and the views were wonderful. The children couldn’t get over how many different seating areas there were! We spent a lot of time in the pool and found that our friends who were staying in a town house down in the harbour were extremely keen to come visiting! Once again, thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful villa. We fell in love with Skopelos (I was looking longingly in the estate agent windows in the harbour). We definitely hope to be back!

Many thanks,

Louise"

Location

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Given its countryside location, Villa Aeolos is a great place to explore the area by foot and hikers and walkers will find the nature pristine and peaceful. The Satellite ref number is 39.122807,23.715550. The Island offers numerous activities including snorkeling, horse trekking, boat trips to visit secluded beaches and other islands close by.

Sea kayaking has been introduced to the island over the last year and we can arrange single day trips, multi day tours circumnavigating Skopelos and expeditions to the neighboring islands, including island hopping in the marine conservation area.

Coast/Beach:

Easy access by car to many of the island’s beautiful beaches: Glysteri or Glyfoneri (Aghios Konstantinos) is approximately 10 minutes to the north, Limnonari, Agnondas is approximately 20 minutes, Panormos which has a wide sweeping bay with good swimming and many restaurants is 25 minutes. Kastani (beach where the main scenes of Mamma Mia were filmed) is 30 minutes approximately. Scenic views on drive to all beaches, with sand, sand and shingle or large pebbles.

Travel:

The nearest airport is on the next island of Skiathos, with frequent boats, flying dolphins and flying cats to Skopelos throughout the summer months (fewer outside of the main tourist season Oct to April). To travel from Skiathos to the port of Skopelos takes 45 to 75 minutes and Villa Aeolos is 10 minutes from the port by hire car. It will be possible to arrange for your car to be left on the port for you to collect and we can also arrange for you to be met and shown the way to the villa.

Distances:

Skopelos town is 10 minutes drive, Stafylos 20 minutes, Glossa (town at other end of island) and its port of Loutraki is 40-45 minutess. There are wilder, more isolated beaches on north east coast (such as Perivoliou) which are 1hour and 15 minutes away approximately. Church on the rock (Aghios Ioannis - used for the wedding scene in Mamma Mia) 1 hour approximately.

Further Details:

Skopelos is the nearest main town. The town has many well established restaurants, bars, cafes (including internet cafes). On the outskirts of the town you will find several family run restaurants offering wonderful home cooked, traditional Greek cuisine. At the end of the waterfront you will find the picturesque Chorio (old town), which is built into the hillside with winding alleyways, dotted with shops meandering between the old houses and the Venetian Kastro (castle). Skopelos is also famous for its hand made pottery, so you will find many family owned shops selling pots, plates, bowls etc. There is also a good selection of fine and artisan jewellery and clothing shops. There is also a medical centre, pharmacies, dentist, police and fire stations, supermarkets and tourist information centre. A full list of our favourite restaurants and bars, including addresses and telephone numbers, is kept at the villa for your convenience. Be aware that during the height of the season, these restaurants can get rather busy so it is always our recommendation to book to avoid disappointment! The good news is that the majority of them stay open until the early hours, so eating is never a problem.

Outside: Villa Aeolos is surrounded by extensive terraces both front and back. The rear terrace is ideal for enjoying early morning breakfast under the shade of the sloping terracotta roof, from where you will enjoy views of the olive and pine clad hillsides of Mount Delphi. The front terrace is furnished with dining tables and chairs, wicker chairs and small tables from which to enjoy the fabulous views down to the harbour. Many hours will be spent watching the sun and moon rise above the hills opposite and checking out the ferries busily plying the waters below. Both terraces are shaded by pergolas with lush and mature greenery which help keep the temperatures cool even in the heat of the day. The pool area is situated slightly off to the side of the villa and is one of the largest swimming pools on the island (11metres x 4metres). The recent additions of a large pool bar, comfy furniture, cushions on the loungers and new landscaping will add to your stay at Villa Aeolos. Utility Room: There is a washing machine located within the basement. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning service & linen change is once a week. The perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

From the first contact I had with Janice and John to the second we left the villa to go home, the whole experience has far exceeded my expectations. Janice and John were so incredibly helpful, looking up flight times and suitable ferries and providing us with all the information we could possibly need to have a good stay. Dianna and Kostas were also incredibly responsive and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them - including driving back down the hill to find our friends travelling in another car who had taken a wrong turn when driving up to the house for the first time!

The villa itself is just beautiful, both inside and out. A huge terrace with a fantastic pool and the most incredible views of the island. The interior of the villa is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. You really feel at home there.

As some other reviewers have said, a car is definitely required in order to be able to explore the island, get the shopping done etc. However, this is more than made up for by the peace and quiet and the scenery - being able to look down on the shining lights of Skopelos town and watch the ferries come in and out of the port.

There is nothing not to love about staying here and we will definitely be back as soon as we can get there!

A Beautiful Holiday Villa

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this great Villa. Beautifully decorated, with a fantastic Kitchen that not only looks good but is fully equipped. A lot of time and effort has been put in to make this Villa home from home.

Not only is it not over looked, but it is peaceful with stunning views.

There are so many different seating areas...from four dinning tables to sun beds plus another two outside sofa areas!

Diana and Costas (villa managers) were fantastic and really helpful, Janice and John (lucky owners) were very efficient and helpful with all sorts of information on the island and restaurants - Thank you.

You will definitely need a car or a quadbike to get to it, as the Villa is on the out skirts of the town - be prepared for steep narrow lanes, but well worth the effort.

We had a fantastic Holiday, many, many thanks

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review, so pleased you had a fantastic time. With regards to the road to the villa, there is an alternative route which has a more gradual incline which takes a further 5 - 10 minutes Regards Janice and John

Wonderful family holiday villa

  • 5 of 5

The villa was every bit as good - in fact better - than we had hoped. It was very comfortable, spacious, clean, secluded, has some wonderful views, and was a delightful place just to sit and relax, with lots of lovely outdoor sitting areas. The children really enjoyed the pool, and we had many happy moments sitting on the verandah relaxing; we also enjoyed the barbecue and ate in the villa quite a lot. Equally, it is a very easy drive down to Skopelos or across to the beaches on the W coast, and we had great fun exploring the island and ate in some lovely restaurants by the sea in some beautiful spots. Janice was an absolute fount of knowledge and advice on everything from ferries, car hire, restaurants, supermarkets, canoeing etc which made our holiday so much easier; she couldn't have been more helpful. Diana and Costas were also very helpful with advice etc

Skopelos is a beautiful island and we had the most wonderful holiday.

One of our best vacation rentals ever!

  • 5 of 5

We spend one week at Aeolos Villa Skopelos august 2016 and everything was amazing :) The house was very very clean, spacious, and beautyfully decorated. The kitchen has everything you need and even more. There are a LOT of different areas where you can just sit, relax and enjoy a drink or your meal. The pool area is great too- the pool is big (and on some parts very deep too ), clean and very enjoyable and there is also a very large and beautifull olive-tree and aloe garden. +Diana and Kostas were very nice and available. One of our best vacation rentals ever! Thank you very much !

Just remember that you absolutely NEED a car to get anywhere- the route to Skopelos isn't very long but it is very tricky (think narrow mountain roads).
