About the Owner

With my husband Lorenzo, I live on the premises of Le Due Volpi from 2006, when we moved from Fiesole, Florence. It was always our dream to live in an old Tuscan farmhouse and have guests to stay, and here we are. We have never regretted it! We have two terrier pups called Rufus and Jamie, and two cats who live outside.

Lorenzo is an amateur of old radios, good wine, and extra virgin olive oil. Because of his love of radios we have named the rooms after famous Italian radios, Brionvega, Minerva, Superla and Nicoletta. If you have an old radio to spare, bring it along, and make him happy!

Heidi enjoys the company of guests, and loves to cook simple, delicious food on her AGA. She draws on her widely travelled past to make her dishes interesting and tasty!

From the Owner

We both love the Mugello region, a yet to be fully discovered area just north of Florence. The rolling hills, edged by the Appenines to the north, and the river Sieve to the south, make this an interesting area to explore on foot and by car. Vicchio is the nearest little town, with all amenities and restaurants, banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, and so on, and of course famous for having being the birthplace of Giotto, and Beato Angelico to name the more famous artists of the early Renaissance.

From the Owner

The property is conveniently located in the rural light farming countryside just north of Vicchio. The farmhouse once belonged to the Medici Villa Poggio Bartoli, now privately owned, and housed the farm labourers who worked for the Marchese. It stands on a hillock, commanding wonderful views of the fields below where sheep graze, and the Appenines to the north. It is remote, yet in 10 minutes we are in the centre of Vicchio, from which in just an hour we can reach Florence either by car or by train.
