Overview

About the property

Near Eardisley, Kington, Herefordshire, England. Explore beautiful Herefordshire from this spacious house, sleeps 6/7 in 3 large bedrooms but sorry no pets.

Great Quebb is part of a settlement of houses and barns which date back to the 15th Century. Parts of the house are still original, though much of it has been altered over the years to make it more comfortable. Ideal for touring North Herefordshire and the Welsh borders, by car, bike or on foot. There is entertainment locally for all ages and interests, and yet it is in a quiet area adjoining a dairy farm. Hay-on-Wye which has an annual literary festival is within easy reach and it is not far from the Royal Welsh Showground. Hereford's beautiful Cathedral is approximately 17 miles away.

About Celia Foote

I am married with four adult children. We run a Dairy farm in Hampshire with our two sons. My brother and I own the property together-he lives in the West end of the house-the East end is the let part.

Celia Foote purchased this house in 2010

Why Celia Foote chose Eardisley

We first saw Great Quebb when visiting my daughter in Herefordshire, she lives nearby with her Husband and children and we both liked the house and the area

Having visited several times we liked the area more and more and decided to sell our house in Dorset to buy Great Quebb which we see has exciting possibilities.

Although it is in a very rural location, it is not too far from many interesting places.

What makes this house unique

For us the convenience of being close to family is a benefit, but also it is a lovely place for country walks. It is close to Kington, where there is a Co-op where you can buy most things and it also has an unusual array of small shops including 2 butchers and a pharmacy. There is a farm shop nearby in the Pub in Almeley as well as a village shop, good pub and cafe in Eardisley.

New Years Eve celebration

  • 5 of 5

The house is incredible! We had anticipated a freezing little cottage in the middle of the winter but were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the house. The house was warm and relaxing in front of the log burner was lovely. Our host welcomed us when we arrived and after showing us around, left us to enjoy our stay. The location was perfect, nestled between a few farm cottages and surrounded by gorgeously peaceful countryside. If you're looking for a quiet retreat, this is ideal! Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Fabulous Bank Holiday Weekend in Eardisley

We had a truly wonderful stay at Great Quebb. The property fitted our requirements perfectly and was a great base for visiting family in the area.

The farmhouse is full of character - exposed beams and old staircase.

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean and comfortable - also deliciously warm over a cold weekend. Three large bedrooms and a large living room meant that 6 adults had plenty of space. We were given a very warm welcome by our host and would not hesitate booking up again if we are in that area.

Beautiful warm cosy farmhouse perfect for Christmas

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas. The farmhouse was very warm and cosy, it had everything we needed and more. Would definitely visit again. It was very homely and welcoming, even had decorations. The children loved it and we all had a lovely Christmas.

We loved our stay here, charming Farmhouse, beautiful surrounding & very welcoming.

  • 5 of 5

The photos really don't do this place justice. We booked this for 4 adults & 3 children last minute & what a find. The farmhouse is very traditional with plenty of character, spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need. A very warm welcome from the host & despite very last minute we had fresh hand-picked flowers in the propert on arrival, wood for the wood burner ready to go and complementary chocolate biscuits which the kids soon devoured. A very warm, cosy and safe environment for young families. Plenty to do and see locally and we can't wait to go back. Thank you for great communications a very friendly welcome and a super stay, we can't wait to come back.
