Great Quebb is part of a settlement of houses and barns which date back to the 15th Century. Parts of the house are still original, though much of it has been altered over the years to make it more comfortable. Ideal for touring North Herefordshire and the Welsh borders, by car, bike or on foot. There is entertainment locally for all ages and interests, and yet it is in a quiet area adjoining a dairy farm. Hay-on-Wye which has an annual literary festival is within easy reach and it is not far from the Royal Welsh Showground. Hereford's beautiful Cathedral is approximately 17 miles away.

About Celia Foote

I am married with four adult children. We run a Dairy farm in Hampshire with our two sons. My brother and I own the property together-he lives in the West end of the house-the East end is the let part.

Why Celia Foote chose Herefordshire

We first saw Great Quebb when visiting my daughter in Herefordshire, she lives nearby with her Husband and children and we both liked the house and the area

Having visited several times we liked the area more and more and decided to sell our house in Dorset to buy Great Quebb which we see has exciting possibilities.

Although it is in a very rural location, it is not too far from many interesting places.

What makes this house unique

For us the convenience of being close to family is a benefit, but also it is a lovely place for country walks. It is close to Kington,where you can buy most things and has an unusual array of small shops. There are farm shops nearby as well as a village shop, good pub and cafe in Eardisley.

Lovely spacious farmhouse with a cosy feeling.

We spent 4 nights at this welcoming farmhouse. Ample space for our extended family group. Large dining table so we could all eat together and ample space around the wood burner at night for some cosy family time. Loved the area too. Can recommend a stay here .

Great house in a great location

Our group of three friends fell in love with this house as soon as we stepped into it. It was as described, warm, comfortable, clean, well-equipped, full of character and with every modern amenity you would wish for without spoiling a beautiful old property. The website photographs barely do it justice and the house exceeded our expectations. Our host Richard was welcoming and knowledgeable and added greatly to the enjoyment of our stay, showing us round the house and garden and patiently answering our many questions. The house was a great base for walking, and for exploring Hereford, Hay-on-Wye and Leominster. We also visited local attractions the Cider Museum, Oakenchurch Farm Shop and Cafe, Arthur's Stone, and the Monkfield Dairy. We were all delighted with the house and would have no hesitation in returning, or in recommending it to family and friends. Many thanks to Celia who was so helpful prior to our visit, and Richard who could not have made us more welcome.

Beautiful house

The house is just so lovely and has character, in a good way. It is really clean and spacious. There is everything you need and the waiting tea/coffee/milk and ginger thins were just what we needed after a long journey. We stayed as we were at a wedding at Lemore Manor but on arriving we decided we will go back and enjoy more - managed to fit in picturesque Pembridge and the Water Gardens. Our kids are 18(just) and 13 - they loved the area and the house.... Says something nowadays. And as for the host .... Richard was very nice and is a very good singer and Celia was prompt and helpful with booking and travel queries. Definitely would recommend :)

Great Weekend Away

Lovely old cottage, which was more roomy than we had expected. Richard who lived next door looked after us well. The cottage was very clean and warm, kitchen very well equipped. Would certainly stay here again there are lots of things to do within driving distance.

Brilliant place, great location

We loved the farmhouse. Stayed for 2 nights while walking Offa's Dyke which is close by. Every aspect of the farmhouse exceeded our expectations. Roaring fire already made for our arrivals, fab bathrooms, heaps of space in all the bedrooms. Kitchen very well equipped, and lounge was lovely and cosy on an autumnal evening.

We were very well looked after by Richard who was only next door, and we came home with some windfalls from the garden as well.

The house was also spotlessly clean, the beds very comfortable, and we all got a great nights sleep.

We would stay here again without hesitation. Absolutely perfect.

The area is also very very beautiful. The weather wasn't great when we were there, but there is heaps to do in the local area.
