Coast/Beach:

The closest beaches are at Armacao De Pera about 15 minutes drive. This is a recently renovated resort with many restaurants cafes and gift shops. The beaches are extremely clean and large. For the energetic walkers you can walk from Armaca through the bird sanctuary plain of Salgados beach and onto Gale. Carvoeiro originally a small fishing village has several beaches set amongst coves. The town itself is great for gift shops, restaurants bars and just enjoying nightlife. Carvoeiro is 20 mins.

Travel:

Cerro Vista is 45 minutes from the main International airport at Faro. Car hire is essential.

Distances:

Silves is 5 minutes drive. Monchique is 30 minutes drive. The west coast and its rugged beaches are 40 minutes drive. Albufeira is 30 minutes drive. The Algarve shopping mall is 20 minutes drive.

Further Details:

Although set in a rural area, Cerro Vista is in the heart of the Algarve with all main shopping centres, beaches, historical towns and great walking areas. the historical town of Silves has many interesting features such as a large imposing castle overlooking the town, a Cathedral, an archaeological museum and many small pedestrian streets full of cafes and small shops. There are many banks and larger supermarkets all within the town of Silves.

The Algarve is a very different place in the winter but with temperatures averaging 10 degrees higher than the UK why not try a winter let for up to 6 months. Yes it is colder than the summer, and it even rains sometimes but it is much better than the snow and the bitter winds in the UK!

Don't forget this is a large property and the two log fires will help to keep you warm, but if you want a carpetted centrally heated house this isn't it!

On the plus side, many traditional and local restaurents are open all year round and if you like winter breaks, exploring the contryside and beaches when they are desserted and living amongst the local Portuguese can be an experience you will love.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: This is a large flexible property with the living areas in the centre and with two bedrooms at each end of the property. It is ideal for a large family, two families or groups. The lounge areas have high caned ceilings providing a cool atmosphere. The house was originally an architects own conversion many years ago and with its thick walls and large rooms is cool all year round. Outside: The main rear garden has a large lawn with established borders and leads to the private pool area with paved surround. At the front of the property there is a large terrace leading to a front sunken garden within a walled area and a small pond. There are sun beds, patio furniture and BBQ supplied. There are several acres of terraced orange groves leading from the garden on all sides. Utility Room: The utility room includes a separate sink, a second fridge for drinks perhaps and a washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedlinen and house towels are provided. Beach towels are also available. There is a weekly change of bedding and towels. Other: The entrance hall opens into the lounge with a spiral staircase leading up to a minstrels gallery overlooking the lounge and the 4th bedroom.
