About the Owner
My husband and I are nearing retirement age but still run a busy guest house in Scotland from Easter to October, when we then escape to our lovely home in Autignac for much of the winter. In our slightly younger days we went mad and also bought a small hotel to run alongside the guest house. The sale of this in 2007 was converted into our French home.

The house was spacious and comfortable. The village was not the most beautiful but had a good bakery, a small supermarket, a greengrocers and a pharmacy. There was also a simple cafe in the square. It was an ideal base for exploring this interesting and varied area. There is plenty to do and see from strolling around beautiful Pezenas or along the Canal due Midi to walking up the Gorges d'Heric to enjoying the beaches and fishing villages along the Med. It took a night or two to become accustomed to the ringing of the bell of the village clock but this was a minor irritation.

“We knew that we wanted to be in an area of France close to the Med. but being priced out of Provence and after much internet research we selected a small area of the Herault to view properties. We are absolutely delighted to have found the village of Autignac as it is a very quiet traditional village that also has all the ameneties needed for day to day life. Being both wine and food lovers, Autignac could not serve us better with all the local vineyards producing such lovely wine, the local food and markets all keep us in heaven. Although living in the Highlands of Scotland, flying is easy for us by Easyjet and Ryanair”

From the Owner
“Our house has been completely renovated by a local builder (who used to live in it himself and from whom we bought it). It was originally four small village houses and has now been so altered that it is completely unique among French houses. The front faces on to a 'Place' where most of the village passes by and the back onto a tiny, traditonal alleyway. Being situated in the centre of the village makes life so simple with everything a gentle stroll away. The local people are very friendly which makes life more enjoyable. Sitting on the terrace, taking life easy is what it is all about!”
