Updated: 06-Nov-2016
Cottage in Bouille-Loretz, Nr. Saumur / Loire Valley, Poitou Charentes - Peaceful Location Set Amongst The Vines Of The Anjou Wine Region Close To The Loire

This delightful cottage, set amongst the vines of the Anjou wine region, is at the edge of a village with boulangerie, charcuterie and a small general store. There are 2 large, attractively furnished, bedrooms, one with a kingsize (UK) bed and the other with two singles. There is a double sofa-bed to accommodate additional guests. The living room retains much character with original exposed beams and tomette floors. The fully equipped kitchen/diner leads out to the sunny south facing terrace complete with BBQ and dining setting where you can relax whilst enjoying the views across the countryside. The fully enclosed pool area features a 10 metre by 5 metre pool, plus loungers and umbrellas. There is utility room and a 'games' room with games, books and a fussball table. Also, balls, badminton and boules are available. In the local area, there are wineries and our region is ideal for walking, cycling or sightseeing with chateaux and old towns to explore.

About the Owner

After 30 years of living in Australia, we decided to have a complete change and, as we had always loved visiting France, this was the perfect place to come to.

We have travelled all over the world and love to meet new people, so we are really enjoying the mix of locals and visitors.

We have all had a fabulous time, it has gone so quickly. The gite is perfect, lacking in nothing, with lovely special touches that make the difference, Phil and Janet, you have done a wonderful job and are lovely welcoming hosts. We hope to be back so George can enjoy France as he gets older - and will certainly recommend to friends and family. See you again. Connolly family (UK)

Fabulous cottage, fabulous location and fabulous hosts. Had a wonderful time here - thanks so much Janet and Phil. Visited tons of places in the area and still had time to relax by the pool and enjoy the brilliantly set up cottage. Thanks for everything - we have thoroughly enjoyed it. Morgan family (UK)

We have had a lovely relaxing week, sunbathing, swimming and reading with a little sight-seeing - just as we planned. The gite is very comfortable and peaceful and Janet and Phil were extremely welcoming and attentive hosts. We will go home with our batteries recharged. Philpott family (UK)

A lovely Relaxing stay in the Loire Valley

  • 5 of 5

Farmer's cottage is a hidden gem in the rural countryside close to Saumur. We wanted to explore the wine regions of the area, & get on the bikes to explore the local villages.

Phil & Janet were most helpful prior to our return & throughout the whole week. The gite is well equipped to a high standard with everything you need. We had many peaceful evenings on the terrace. Restaurants are a short drive away.

Lots of local amenities close by & a general market most days within a 30 minute drive. We also visited the tank museum, cadre noir, & chateau saumur, there are plenty of activities in the area for families / couples.

We will certainly return if we plan to visit the area again.

Thanks Phil & Janet x

Our 2014 holiday

  • 5 of 5

Farmers Cottage is everything that is stated in the advert and more. What the advert will not state is the lovely warm welcome that you will receive from Phil and Janet on your arrival, and how kind and helpful they are during your stay, whilst maintaining a discreet distance to allow you privacy.

On a practical front the cottage was clean and tidy when we arrived. Is is spacious and very well equipped, catering for all of our needs and the perfect size to give the four of us all the space that we needed to completely unwind. The children love the swimming pool and made full use of this and the games room. We all loved the very restful lounge, and father and son re-lived the big moments from the 2014 World Cup in the lovely garden.

The cottage boasts fantastic outdoor furniture and we were able to eat our supper at the table overlooking the back garden every evening. Lovely.

The kitchen area was perfect to enable the wannabe chef in the family to prepare the daily cuisine for all of us, which was all washed down with plenty of the local wine.

The cottage is well situated for plenty of day trips in some very beautiful countryside, some very pretty local towns, as well as the many stunning chateaux in the region.

We loved our stay and happily recommend it - save for the risk that other people will then book it before we can get around to re-booking it ourselves!

From the Owner

We searched from the Loire to the Mediterranean before deciding that this area was perfect for us. It has stunning historic architecture combined with beautiful countryside. There are lovely summers and it is still very easy to visit from the UK. Although the whole area is uncrowded, there are still plenty of things to do.
