About Thomas McIntosh

I live in Sussex with my wife and our Springer Spaniel. We are both professional people. We always took our family holidays in Provence in rented accommodation. We rented a house in Bargemon for six years before deciding to buy a house in the village. Bargemon is full of charm and character with a square where one can sit and watch the world go by. Well served with restaurants, grocer, greengrocer, chemist and vineyard. We have made many friends over the years. We bought our house in 2007 and visit 4-5 times a year. We fell in love with the house as soon as we saw it. Built in the 1940s it is a three minute walk from the village. All the rooms some with balconies face South looking down the valley towards Clavier and the Mediterranean in the distance.

What makes this house unique

The townhouse was built in the 1940s. A two minute walk brings you into the centre of the village. We fell in love with the house with the ease of whether it is collecting the fresh croissants and bread in the morning, collecting that much need additional bottle of rose at lunchtime, or whether an afternoon stroll to proxy or tabac is needed. It provides great charm and period features. The appeal of Bargemon is you can do as much or as little as you like and provides the base for a perfect holiday.Split over multi-levels provides a practical and expansive living space. A rare feature of this property is its close vicinity to the Village Centre but also has an outdoor space and more importantly a swimming pool. This has a number of restaurants ranging from bistro to fine diners.

Notes on accommodation: The sitting room has a glass fronted stone fireplace. All rooms have electric radiator heating. All windows including the French windows in the dining and sitting rooms have locks and wooden shutters. Electrically operated sun blind over the sitting room balcony. Beautiful floor tiles everywhere except bedrooms 3,4 and 5 - carpets. Key cupboard by original front door with antique locks. Both kitchens have crockery, cutlery and glassware for 12. Dogs welcome. Outside: Garden has a lawned area and is well stocked with oleanders, 40ft mauve bougainvillea, fig, campsis, olive and apricot trees. The large patio with teak table and umbrella seats 12 comfortably. The BBQ built into the brickwork is perfect for alfresco dining. The pool is surrounded by sun terraces on three sides and natural stone wall on fourth side. The pool complies with French laws regarding child safety with iron fence and lockable gate for entry. The private pool and garden are maintained weekly. There are sun loungers, tables, chairs and umbrellas. Both the pool and the garden face south with views into the valley and towards Claviers. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron and ironing board, hair dryer located in the second bathroom Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: L' Amondine is cleaned after each rent. Fresh bed linen, sun and bathroom towels are provided on arrival. A cleaning and laundry charge is included in the rent. Other: Dining room with high ceiling, antique furniture and large oak table seats 12 comfortably and south facing balcony. Family room with high vaulted ceiling, pool table, playstation and games, TV and sofa bed. Well stocked Log store.

Gorge de Verdon is 40 minutes away with kayaking and white water rafting

Degustations (wine tasting) is available at many vineyards in the area including Bargemon's own vineyard.

Coast/Beach:

The coastal beaches and resorts of Ste. Maxime, St. Tropez and Frejus are easily accessible - 50 minute drive. The beaches at Cannes and Nice are 45 and 60 minutes away. Take the ferry from St Maxime to St Tropez.

Bargemon is a Provencal village parts of which pre date Medieval times. although its most famous inhabitants are Posh and David Beckham Bargemon is more likely to attract artists and writers with its winsome charm, old stone houses, ramparts, narrow streets and shady squares with geraniums and sparkling crystal fountains. It is not for nothing that for many, Bargemon is the prettiest village in Provence -an accolade not easily earned, as there is some stiff competition in the region! There is a real sense of history in Bargemon, and it is worth paying a little time with some of the ancient buildings that grace this lovely village. There are remains of the old ramparts that once fortified Bargemon against attackers, and it is still possible to see the sites of the old prison, the Sarrasin tower and various ancient gateways to the village. There's a museum and an interesting old church to visit, and the village also has olive mills where the olive oil is squeezed from the ripe, locally grown olives. Bargemon is really just a good sized village, but it is extremely well equipped with shops and services to make life as comfortable and easy as possible for its residents and visitors. You will find a supermarket as well as local shops such as boulangeries, a bank, a pharmacy, art galleries and a good selection of excellent little restaurants. Bargemon is in a great location for sports fans and the wonderful Provencal countryside is superb for anyone who loves an active, outdoor way of life. The village has tennis courts, a swimming pool, and more swimming can be had locally in lakes and, a short distance away - the Med! Nearby there is fishing, golf, horse-riding, paragliding, cycling and wonderful walking. Don't forget Bargemon's own vineyard where grapes are cultivated for delicious local Rose, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wines.

A deposit of 30% of the total letting price is payable at the time of booking plus a fully refundable(housekeeper will check the house as you leave) damages deposit of 100 pounds is also paid at the time of booking. Balance due 8 weeks before commencement of rental period. Arrival at the house no earlier than 16:00 hours and departure no later than 10:00.

Changeover Day:
L' Amandine preferred changeover days are Saturday. We ask all residents to vacate the property by 10.00am. This will give time for the cleaner to prepare L'Amandine for the next visitors.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
