Penthouse Apartment in St James, Praia da Luz, Western Algarve, Portugal - Quiet Location, Short Walk To Beach, Restaurants, Shops And Bars

This impressive top floor apartment is bright and spacious (110 sq.m/1200 sq.ft) with great views over the entire Luz bay area. The entrance hall leads to a large living area which in turn opens out onto the main balcony. From there you can see the clear blue sea and the cliffs surrounding Praia da Luz. Both bedrooms have the same amazing sea views. The apartment is equipped to a very high standard with everything you will need for a relaxing stress free holiday. There is remote controlled air conditioning throughout.

When available, a high chair can be provided free of charge, with prior notice. Additional chairs and cots can be provided for a fee. The St James complex is family friendly and secure with large adult and children’s pools, a children’s play area and beautifully landscaped gardens. There is an Italian restaurant in the complex and it is only a short walk to the centre of Praia da Luz where you will find a great selection of restaurants and bars as well as the fantastic flat beach. Free Internet Wi-Fi and Internet TV. UK and Ireland TV channels (and lots more) available free.

We stayed in this apartment for nearly 2 weeks in May/June and had a wonderful time.

The apartment really was fabulous and exceeded our expectation. It had everything you could want. It was clean, bright and airy. It had had all the beach equipment you can imagine, but also boxes of toys and books (Adult and Kids) which was a lovely surprise. The Wifi was superb and the Film On channels were good to have too. We enjoyed the views on the balcony of both pool area and the sea. The apartment was very secure and it was only a 10 min walk down to the beach.

It was a pleasure to deal with the owner. They were very prompt replying to any queries we had, and supplied very useful documentation on the apartments and its features before we left.

The complex was fabulous and the pools were really nice. Our favourite meal on our entire holiday was actually in the Italian 'Amici' in the complex. It was fantastic. There was loads of parking.

I would certainly return to this apartment in the future as it contributed to a wonderful holiday for us in Praia da Luz.

Could not have been better

Excellently equipped large apartment with great sea views.

Ideally situated for Luz beach and restaurants, literally a 5-10 minute walk to most of the town.

Good sized safe childrens pool and it was never an issue finding recliners even in mid August.

Apartment was spotless and cleaned twice a week,which in our experience is not always the case.

The WI-FI and internet TV was a bonus.

Parking was never a problem as there is plenty of space and the lift was appreciated when bringing everything back from the beach.

The owner was very helpful throughout the process and was always available to answer questions.

We would recommend this apartment without hesitation and we will definitely be returning there ourselves.

We would recommend Chicca's (especially for veggies) and A Fabrica (great service) and of course you cannot go to Luz without making a "daily"visit to the Ice Cream Factory

Fantastic apartment with amazing sea views

Just back from a fantastic holiday having stayed in this apartment for 8 nights. The apartment is beautiful and has stunning sea views. There is plenty of space in the apartment and it is well equipt and cleaned to a very high standard. We were all impressed by how comfortable the beds were! The pool area is well maintained and the little pool was the perfect size for my kids (age 4 & 5). As a family we regularly holiday in Portugal and this apartment has been, by far, the best we have stayed in and we hope to return again. Furthermore, the agency we booked through offer a fab customer service!

My friends and I stayed at this lovely very spacious apartment recently for a week and were very impressed with it, a great deal of thought has gone into making sure that you have everything you need for a wonderful break, the complex itself was extremely well maintained and very clean and in an ideal location being within a stones throw of Luz....all in all well worth a visit and an apartment I would most definitely book again...

Great Apartment In A Great Location

We have been going to Luz for over 14 years and have stayed in various places, but this apartment was one of the best. Very spacious, with all the mod cons plus free WiFi, it had everything we needed. The balcony is south facing so you have the sun all day. The actual complex was very clean and well maintained, it has a nice touch that you need to enter a code on a keypad to get to the pool area so only guests at the complex can use the pools. All in all, I would highly recommend this apartment. In fact, we like it so much, we are going back in March next year.

The apartment is less than 10 minutes from the Praia da Luz beach. This is a beautiful flat sandy beach with a lovely promenade running along its length. There are plenty of water sports, snorkelling and scuba-diving facilities available.

It is 15 minutes drive to the renowned Meia Praia beach in Lagos, one of the longest in Europe.


Faro airport is a 45 minute drive from Luz by motorway.

Car hire is available in Luz and at Faro airport.

You can also use the train service from Faro to Lagos and then bus or taxi to Luz.


We are only 500 metres from the beautiful Praia da Luz beach. It is 3km to the Boavista golf course, which also has a health spa.

The historic town of Lagos with its superb Marina and beaches is 8km away. The nearest train station is also in Lagos. It is 90km from Faro airport (about an hour if you take the motorway).

There is a water park in Lagoa, about 60km away and a zoo 9km away, just outside Lagos.

Luz is a friendly village in the Western Algarve. It is the ideal holiday destination - peaceful, relaxing and beautiful and aimed at families and couples of all ages. The town boasts a large selection of quality restaurants.

It is a 10 minute drive to the charming town of Lagos which has cobbled streets and a walled old town. It also has a marina, beaches and a variety of restaurants and shops. Lagos also has great bars and clubs.

There is an Information Pack in the apartment which gives lots of details about the area to help you make the most of your holiday.

The large main balcony is accessed directly from the living area and has a patio table and seating for four people. The second balcony is accessed directly from both bedrooms. Both balconies overlook the pool and garden area of the complex and also have great sea views. There is remote controlled air-conditioning in the living area and in both bedrooms. This is dual purpose, so it will cool you down in the summer and keep you nice and cosy in the winter. Outside: The St James complex is a low rise development in a quiet residential area in the village of Praia da Luz. There are five small apartment blocks surrounding the swimming pools which are at the centre of the complex. Both pools are large - one is for adults and one for children. Sun loungers are provided free of charge and there are toilets beside the pools. For security purposes, access to the pool area is restricted to St James residents and is secured by access code entry. There is a delightful children's play area adjacent to the pool area with swing, climbing frame etc. and safety flooring throughout. A large area around the pools is timber-decked and surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. There is an Italian restaurant in the complex. A supermarket is just two minutes walk away. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linens and towels are provided. Please note you must provide your own beach towels. Other: The dining area has a table and seating for 6 people. The balcony has seating for 5 people.
