About the Owner

Hello! L'Ancienne Cure and Le Noyer are owned by Jon & Ali, originally from Derbyshire and Worcestershire in the UK, now permanently based in France.

We left our previous lives behind in 2004 with the aim of setting up a holiday business in France. We spent five months working as Chalet Hosts in the French ski resort of Morzine - to improve our French, our skiing and our cooking - then returned to the Loire!

We have 2 self catering cottages and also run catered cycling holidays from our home at Gue de Ray.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Locality of gite was excellent for helping strike a balance between 'see and do' days and 'relaxing lazy' days. Three urban dwellers thoroughly relaxed in this lovely peaceful setting." - Maureen, Emma & Balint, Northern Ireland

"The building was fabulous and so typically French....from the open plan living space with wood burning fire to the garden and its fruit trees. This gite, with it's two huge bedrooms was an absolute dream. The gite is fully equipped with everything required, including all the associated gear that you need with a one year old. L'Ancienne Cure is without exception the best gite we have ever stayed in. The space, the garden, the village (complete with a terrific Boulangerie and its very own marvelous chateaux) was all we could have asked for!" - Rob, Sarah and Alfie (10 months), Sheffield

"Many thanks Alison & Jon for a very relaxing week which was just what we wanted. The garden for breakfast and dinner was just fab!" - Kevin & Gill, Edinburgh

From the Owner

We used to holiday in France every year and fell in love with the Loire Valley. It's close enough to the UK for a long weekend break, but being further south it benefits from much better weather and is so spacious! There's so much to see and do within a short drive - vineyards, stunning chateaux, fantastic weekly markets, well marked cycle routes etc. We're still finding new things to see/do after 10 years!
