About Alison

Hello! L'Ancienne Cure and Le Noyer are owned by Jon & Ali, originally from Derbyshire and Worcestershire in the UK, now permanently based in France.

We left our previous lives behind in 2004 with the aim of setting up a holiday business in France. We spent five months working as Chalet Hosts in the French ski resort of Morzine - to improve our French, our skiing and our cooking - then returned to the Loire!

We have 2 self catering cottages and also run catered cycling holidays from our home at Gue de Ray.

Alison purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Alison chose Breil

We used to holiday in France every year and fell in love with the Loire Valley. It's close enough to the UK for a long weekend break, but being further south it benefits from much better weather and is so spacious!

There's so much to see and do within a short drive - vineyards, stunning chateaux, fantastic weekly markets, well marked cycle routes etc. We're still finding new things to see/do after 10 years!

What makes this cottage unique

L'Ancienne Cure is in a quiet country village which has its own bakery/shop and chateau! Marked cycle routes run right past the door.

It has been tastefully renovated, retaining many period features and really is a place to get away from it all, relax and enjoy this beautiful area. We're only 10 mins away and are always available for help and advice on where to go and what to do.

Leisure and lounging in the Loire

  • 5 of 5

A fabulous holiday, from start to finish. The property was immaculately clean and finished to a high standard, exactly as advertised. The rooms were larger than I'd expected.

So peaceful and relaxing. Couldn't fault the hosts,Ali and Jon, who were so friendly and helpful.Particularly enjoyed being able to go for bike rides - the area is ideal for leisure cycling.I would thoroughly recommend this cottage and will be booking again myself for this year as there are still places I would like to explore.Thank you for a great holiday.

Owner's Response: We're really pleased you had a great time and the cottage lived up to your expectations! It certainly is a fantastic area for leisure cycling, flat open roads with very little traffic and there's so much to see. Would love to see you back here, thanks for being a great guest.

Very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We were spoilt with both the weather and the facilities. Everything you could want in a gite was supplied including a welcome bottle of wine. The welcome information pack was one of the most informative we have seen, and we have holidayed in the area for years.

The bed was very very comfortable and the garden quiet and peaceful.

Parking next to the barn can be a little tight, and a number of people walk past the gite in the evening. Nothing too bad but they like to say good evening if the kitchen door is open. definitely a return booking.
