We loved our stay at Casa Margarita. Situated off the beaten track it provides a brilliant setting for a relaxing stay, with good facilities and a great pool. A lovely touch was the unexpected welcome pack giving us a few essentials. Although a car is essential we were only about 30 minutes from Albufeira for lively nights out and close to the motorway for easy trips to Lagos and Portimao. Lots of lovely restaurants closer to home a must is a visit to nearby Mato a Vista in Foral great food and a lot cheaper than the more expensive Albufeira offerings.

Water parks nearby were fantastic and the kids loved them, also visit the local Fiesa in pera for the sand sculpture festival. A fantastic evening was also taken on a boat hunting for dolphins and actually finding some and taking in the beautiful coastal scenery. All in all a fantastic holiday and would visit the Algarve again in a heartbeat, if we do we would undoubtably stay in Casa Margarita again.

Lovely relaxing holiday.

Villa is situated in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas of the Algarve but within easy reach of all of these. A car is a necessity and a satnav unless you are very good at reading maps. The roads around the villa are narrow country lanes but they are very quiet so car travel is not stressful.

The villa is spacious and well maintained and a maid visits a couple of times during the week to do general tidying and change the bed linen. There was a welcome pack waiting for us when we arrived, which was a nice touch. The garden and pool were great and also well maintained. The pool was much used as the weather was very hot during our stay. There were ample sun loungers and patio furniture enabling us to have all meals comfortably outside, sometimes prepared on the bbq.

The owner had also provided inflatables for use in the pool and there were children's buckets and spades etc for anyone with young children.

There was also a good selection of guide books for the area, which we made good use of and a bookcase full of books that we also made use of when we had exhausted the limited amount of books we had brought with us. The TV in the main lounge had British tv channels and there was a good supply of DVDs if needed.

The owner provided us with a good amount of information concerning the route to the villa and the local amenities and shops before we left the UK and the information book at the villa was also very helpful, especially the restaurant recommendations for nearby restaurants from previous visitors. We found the food to be very good at very reasonable prices.

As the villa is located more or less in the centre of the Algarve we were able to use it as a base for visiting places such as Sagres in the west to Faro in the east and the journey times on the quiet motorways were not excessive. Silves (for castle and walk along the river) and Alte ( lovely views across the valley and springs) are also worth a visit and within easy reach as are Abufeira and Vilamoura if you prefer busier resorts and nightlife.

A great place for a relaxing holiday in a very rural area but with easy access to resorts and amenities - car essential.

Three week break

  • 4 of 5

Due to the popularity of this villa we started booking 10 months ago.

The villa fitted our needs the wife and I went for three weeks with my daughter/partner and three children (under 7 years) coming for the last two, plenty of room to find a quite spot if needed. The pool was over worked with the children, the area is very quite. Would highly recommend this villa. Two good restaurants about 40 minutes walking would also recommend a car to get around. Clean villa and friendly staff and well equipped

A beautiful haven

  • 5 of 5

I have visited Casa Margarita on numerous occasions over the past few years; with the girls, for a romantic break with my husband and most recently with our new baby and parents on a family holiday. I have always enjoyed every minute of our stay.

The villa itself is homely and cosy whilst being very well kept and equipped for anything you might need. It is very spacious and clean. The pool and bbq area is fantastic and so private.

The location of the villa is also great, whilst a car I would say is essential, you get the benefit of complete privacy and peace at the villa whilst having delicious local restaurants five minutes drive away and the busy resort of Albufeira an easy 20 minutes drive away.

Margy makes the booking process easy and is always on hand to help with any querys you may have. Although we've never needed to contact the management team in the algarve we have the reassurance there is someone there should we need it.

Can not recommend this place enough and can't wait to be back there!!

Nice quiet area with plenty of walks and cycling areas. do need a car to get to messines for provisions. one local shop on main road where english is spoken. Accommodation is well cared for and Margie, the owner, is always available on the end of the 'phone. Any problems are soon sorted by Anna, the manager. Local people are very friendly and helpful.

From the Owner

casa margarita has the best of both worlds. we wanted to be off the beaten track a bit but close enough to resorts when we got the urge for a bit more action :-). Messines ticks all the boxes. lovely and peaceful and quiet when you need it. but just jump in the car and you can be in the mountains or on a beach in no time at all.

Activity and Interests

There are many beautiful beaches within 20 mins drive, some quite secluded, others such as Albufeira, a very bustling resort offering everything for the holiday maker - lots of English bars and restaurants, alongside Portuguese and other cuisines. The famous 'Strip' comes alive at night with a huge variety of nightlife.

Faro airport is approx 35 mins drive from Casa Margarita. CAR HIRE IS ESSENTIAL and it is recommended to book early in the peak months.

SB Messines is 9.3km from casa margarita.

Snack Bar Bouganvilla is 3km.

Restaurants Mato Vista and Parasio do Algarve are 4.7km.

The historic town of Silves is approx 15mins drive.
