About the property

Apartment in Nice, Alpes Maritimes, Provence Alpes Cote D'Azur, France - 2 Mins Walk from Beach and the Famous Promenade Des Anglais, Tucked Away in a Quiet Cul-de-sac

Charming and very rare holiday apartment on ground floor of ancient converted chapel. Unusually this property has a back garden where guests may BBQ or sunbathe in relative privacy as it is not directly overlooked. It has a rural feel hidden away behind typical French buildings but is just a few minutes’ walk to the sea. Garden overlooks treescape and gardens. The garden is especially nice to come back to after a days sightseeing to relax and have a glass or two of wine. The beach and promenade is just 2 minutes walk away as are restaurants, public transport supermarkets and shops.

About The Owner

I came to Nice from Belfast.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2009

Why The Owner chose Les Baumettes

I bought this apartment in five minutes due to the quiet location and the garden.

What makes this apartment unique

The location. It's so peaceful and quiet although it's in the centre of Nice. Plus the garden which is vary rare to get in Nice.

Guestbook comments from the owner

3/2/2011. We enjoyed our stay here in Nice for 3 weeks. The apartment is clean and fully furnished and the location is ideal. It's close to the beach and bus stops to the city centre and it's a great neighbourhood. Thanks Geraldine.

Geraldine, thanks for a great stay the past month! The apartment is in such a great location- close enough to walk to all the sights but not so close that it's crazy and noisy. I loved being 1 block from the beach too! The apartment is so nicely decorated with all your artwork and very comfortable. Thanks, Geraldine. 26/4/2011 Nicole Gustin, Providence,Rhode Island, U.S.A

July 2-9th 2011 We very much enjoyed our stay in Nice. The apartment is more than adequate-it has everything a family of 4 would need for a short vacation. However, the highlight for us was the garden. It is so pleasant to be in. This garden is what puts Geraldine's apartment above similar in Nice, by far! Sandra, Hafashor & family, Vancouver.

This property is just a few minutes walk to the beach and Promenade des Anglais. There are water sports available and many beach restaurants. Perfect for topping up your tan and enjoying the local fare. Alternatively just take your book and sit on one of the many benches in the sun and 'people watch' the glamour of the Côte d'Azur.

The apartment and garden are charming

We were very surprised to be evicted after 3 nights there. The Owner said she didn't like me and told us to get out the next morning, this was by email which I woke up to. We were 2 senior women with nowhere to go at that point, very unnerving until we found something at a much better location with a wonderful host.

Owner's Response: I am replying to the review which I received from Sharron Firstly, the check-in with Sharron was shocking. I eventually had to phone Owners Direct to see if they could help me in contacting her. They very kindly phoned the American number which they had for her. However, a man answered and just put the phone down. After a few hours eventually Sharron contacted me and we were able to meet. She told me that she had got confused when I told her that I was worried. Upon the check-in and showing Sharron how things worked. She just didn't seem interested and seem to be on another planet. I was very uneasy about her behavior then. I never met her cousin who was arriving later and apparently the two where going to pet sit somewhere. I received an unnerving e-mail into the second day late in the evening just saying come to the apartment ASP. Not telling me what was wrong. I was in bed and I quickly got up and started to make my way to the apartment. On my way over I met my neighbor who was pulling out of a Garage in front,of me. She asked me what was wrong and I told her. She kindly told me to get in the car and drove me over to the apartment. When we got to the apartment Sharron was not to be seen. Her cousin opened door and when I asked her what was wrong, she told me that they couldn't get the oven turned off but had finally managed. This lady also acted very strange. My neigbor thought that she was on drugs. Next day I cancelled my booking with Sharron as I wasn't happy with her staying in my apartment for nearly three weeks. I let her stay until she found alternative accommodation. I cancelled in a polite manner, by informing Sharron for personal reason I would prefer her to leave. I have refunded her payment. I have been letting out my apartment for six years with Owners Direct and also through AIrbnb. I am booked all through the year. I have had many many guests over the years and I have never had to tell a guest leave. Geraldine

Tranquil holiday in city center

  • 5 of 5

I stayed 2 weeks in this property and didn't want to leave. The location is excellent. Only a block from the Promenade and several bus lines. Everything within central Nice is very close by--10-15 minutes walking at the most. There's a small grocery store about a block away and several bakeries and restaurants nearby.

The apartment was very clean, very quiet, and very comfortable. This property has a lovely back garden that is very peaceful; unique to find in the center of the city. I had everything I needed in the apartment and the heating system is excellent. It heated up within minutes.

I plan to stay again at this property when returning to Nice and I definitely recommend it to others.

Oasis of calm

  • 5 of 5

stayed for 8 nights during June/July and would have liked to stay longer. The apartment is a charming oasis of calm just outside the hustle and bustle of Nice. Geraldine the owner was a lovely lady, very helpful and obliging. Couldn't have found anywhere nicer to stay, such a bonus to get your own private garden with BBQ. Thank you Geraldine, we will most certainly recommend your lovely apartment to all our friends.

wee cracker

  • 4 of 5

such a lovely wee apartment, with easy bus trip from the airport and surrounded by the necessary shops. Is very handy for strolls into Nice, we never bothered with buses. The only downside is the school- not having kids we didn't realise just how noisy they can be.

Peaceful and private

  • 4 of 5

We spent 3 nights here in May, my husband and I with our adult son and his girlfriend. The apartment is quite small and it was a little cosy with the sofabed extended, but during the day there was adequate space, and we ate most of our meals in the beautiful garden. The washing machine and laundry line were a nice inclusion, and the BBQ is bonus. We loved the ability to visit the markets and to cook and experience local recipes.

Walking distance to the beach and groceries. Easy access from the airport by public bus, and Geraldine met us at the bus stop. It's approx. 2 km into the centre of Nice, (and there are frequent, very reasonably priced buses) and we walked it every day. We even walked along the waterfront to the port on our final day to join our cruise ship.

The buses are also easy to use for visiting Monaco and other beautiful spots along the coast - it's even worth the ride just for the views!Thank you Geraldine, and we hope to visit again!

Little riviera gem

  • 5 of 5

This is a gem tucked away in a quiet cul d sac with its own little garden to escape to when the hassle and bustle of the Promenade des Anglais gets too much. Geraldine was an amazing landlady and made me extremely welcome with lots of tips on getting the most from my extended stay in her charming apartment, can't wait to return
