MAXI VILLA PIAZZE & MINI VILLA PIAZZE are two family-owned air-conditioned villas in a wonderful location in the small bay and little port of Sant'Ambroggio near Calvi. Just two minutes walk from the safe sandy beach, both villas are fully equipped with all the comforts of home and have spacious terraces with stunning views overlooking the bay and the beach. All reservations are by the week, from Sunday to Sunday.

MAXI VILLA PIAZZE has two double bedrooms, both ensuite. MINI VILLA PIAZZE has one double bedroom and is perfect for a couple.

Both villas have shaded dining terraces with barbecues and grills and fabulous views. And both have extra fridges to keep your Corsican wine beautifully chilled for when you relax on the terrace after a swim and watch the sun go down.

The lower terraces have sun-loungers and parasols and although the the villas are next door to one another they are separated by a 6 foot high hedge to ensure privacy.

Both villas have their own systems of free WiFi and telephones are connected for free local calls and all incoming calls. There are books, TV, maps and our own 'Handy Hints' with local information. Most useful of all are the Visitors Books spanning the years and setting out ideas and opinions about where to go and what to do. Many of our guests have been coming back to our villas over many summers and their comments in the Visitors Books are there for all to see and we greatly appreciate them. We welcome suggestions and feedback and make improvements every year.

A car is recommended if you want to explore the mountains and villages of Corsica and if you decide to come to one of our much-loved villas you can be sure of a wonderful relaxing holiday on this beautiful island.

Fully refurbished for 2016, Mini Piazze (No. 4) is the smaller of the two villas with large sliding doors leading to the shaded dining terrace with barbecue and an extra fridge for your drinks.

The spacious lower terrace is equipped with sun-loungers and parasols for you to relax and enjoy the wonderful view.

No.4 is air conditioned and is ideal for two with double bed. All reservations are by the week, from Sunday to Sunday,

An arch leads to the modern kitchen with hob, micro, oven/grill, fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee maker etc. There is also a washing machine, dish washer, freezer, iron and hair dryer.

The modern bathroom has bath with shower over. All reservations are by the week, from Sunday to Sunday.

About the Owner

My husband and I fell in love with Corsica more than 20 years ago when we visited it for the first time. We bought No.3 Piazze straight away and later we bought No.4. We used to spend the whole summer there with family joining us for early morning swims, trips to the mountains and drinks on the terrace. Sadly, a few years ago, my husband died but I could not bear to sell my lovely villas and decided to try holiday lets. It took off straight away and I have had some wonderful visitors - even though I seldom meet them! Over the years and with the help of my son Peter, who owns the properties with me, improvements have been made every year with new bathrooms and kitchens and enlarged terraces. Each year we have a new project and my love for this beautiful island continues to grow and will always be with me. Daphne Vickers.

Great location with easy access to the beach.

The property is compact with everything provided, including beach mats, umbrellas and chairs. The terrace is large with sunloungers, chairs, and equipment for al fresco eating, and has a lovely view over the bay. Easy walk to the nearest shops and beach, but a car is essential for exploring further afield and the many places of interest and restaurants.

NB this property is a studio, not "one bedroom"

Full marks for the peaceful location, the wonderful terrace and the equipment provided, as well as good customer service. The interior however is a cluttered mish mash, crying out for a refurb - fortunately though, we had lovely weather and didn't need to spend too much time indoors. Car parking situation not ideal. Fairly pricey even by Corsican standards, due to the fact that this is inaccurately described as a one bedroom property. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons, and we would definitely return.

Fantastic Locaction

We stayed in this quant little villa for 2 weeks in July and loved every second. Initially we thought the villa a little small but soon realised it actually was perfect for just us two. There was nothing within or without the villa that wasn't catered for. The outside large private terrace looks out over the beach towards the port and was just a magnificent view which you could while away the hours. During our stay we met the owners son who stayed in 3 Piazze, and made us very welcome with a lovely social evening with his family.

We toured the local sites, beaches and restaurants and found plenty of each, in particular a great cove beach less than 3 km away. Plenty of eateries in AlgaJola 5km away although be prepared for nice food at equivalent prices to UK. Take a trip to and through the mountains to visit the villages and monasteries, they are well worth the effort.

This is a place we will return to, without doubt a fantastic location and villa.

My cousins bought a nearby property here in 1969 which they still own.When we visited them for a holiday in 1989 we immediately purchased Maxi Villa (No.3 Piazze) in this wonderful location which is very special. When Mini Villa (No.4 Piazze) was up for sale a few years later we also purchased that so that more family and friends could visit. Both villas remain family homes which we update year by year for our visitors to enjoy.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Calvi (or charter flights to Bastia, 50km) at 20 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Marine de Sant Ambroggio at 500 Metres Nearest Ferry : Calvi or Ile Rousse. Overnight to Bastia. at 20 Kilometres Nearest Train : Sant Ambroggio at 1 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Marine de Sant Ambroggio at 500 Metres Nearest Beach : In front of villas. Sandy beach, safe for children at 50 Metres Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Two minutes walk from the beautiful sandy beach which is safe for small children. Beach and other towels provided.

Travel:

Car hire highly recommended so best to book in advance. Nearest airport, Calvi. 10km. But Bastia (50km) is recommended with cheaper charter flights with Easyjet etc. Alternatives are Easyjet to Nice connecting to the daily Air France flights to Calvi. Or ferries to Calvi or Ile Rousse.

Distances:

A few minutes walk along the beach, through the trees or down the road takes you to the small port of Sant'Ambroggio. The tourist centre of Calvi, with its winding cobbled streets and boutiques, is about 10km away and the old colonial port of Ile Rousse is a similar distance. For trips to the mountains, forests and villages you will need a car though you can hop on the little train which trundles along the coast to both towns stopping off at beaches along the way.

Further Details:

There is a family-run supermarket at the port as well as several shops and restaurants, tennis, boat trips and a swimming pool with instructors for children. You will find lots of information in the Visitor's Books and 'Handy Hints' at the villas as well as maps and suggestions of what to do and where to go. There are beach chairs, snorkling equipment, and parasols and you are welcome to use the many items you will find in cupboards.
