Villa near Arona, above Los Cristianos, Tenerife - Quiet, Rural Location, 15 Minutes Drive From Los Cristianos & Other Beaches, Good Walking Area

Casa del Limonero is a rural villa, sleeping 6 plus 2 children with cots in with parents, situated in the south of Tenerife in the hills above Los Cristianos, 20 kms (25 mins) from the south airport. It is 15 minutes from the nearest beaches and tourist centres while there are 5 excellent golf courses between 10 and 25 minutes away. The house itself is on a ridge in a very peaceful location with wonderful views across the valley and down to the coast. French windows open onto the large terrace with a dining area under the pergola and horizon blind, seating up to 8. The jacuzzi, which seats 6, is heated or cooled according to the season, while the solar heated pool is also available in a seperate "child proof" garden. 8 sun beds and a built in barbecue with all the relevant equipment are available to guests. Towelling bath robes are provided for guests' comfort with the Jacuzzi and pool.

About Bill Bailey

An active retired couple, Bill and Sarah-Jane came to Tenerife initially in 1994 when Bill was flying helicopters in the Canaries until 1999. We bought a ruined finca in 1995 and have spent 17 years renovating and improving it. When Bill retired from flying at the end of summer 2010, we sold our home in Somerset and moved permanently to Tenerife, where we live in our converted barn adjacent to the main house. Don't worry, we're completely separate and share only the parking area on the top terrace!

Why Bill Bailey chose South Tenerife

We bought the house because, with the prospect of living permanently in the south of the island (Bill was operating from the South Airport), we wanted to be away from the rapidly developing coastal area with its associated noise, bustle and traffic. We were spectacularly fortunate to find this property almost by accident at about 11 o'clock at night! The quiet rural location, the unspoiled views, yet the proximity to both the airport, main tourist areas and local (non tourist prices) shopping, restaurants and bars overcame our trepidation at the work that would be involved in turning it into a comfortable home. It has been well worth the considerable effort.

What makes this villa unique

For guests arriving at night we can "meet and greet" at the airport if requested at no extra charge, lead them up to the house and introduce them to the facilities. We can organise walking, golfing, wind / kite surfing, cycling and motor cycling, paragliding, horse riding etc. An advance shopping list emailed to us by our guests will be supplied at cost. By previous arrangement with the owners, an evening meal can be provided for scheduled late flights if required. Cost on request.

The solar heated pool and sun lounging area, including 2 parasols and up to 6 sunbeds are in a secure area with lockable gates at both ends.

Notes on accommodation: We cater for couples and families with or without young children. You will need to rent a car to get to the house and travel around the island. A comprehensive Guest Book is provided with information on operation of the house and its equipment, dining out, sightseeing and activities. Outside: The main terrace has a horizon blind covered dining area with table and chairs for 8 and a hot tub which can seat up to 6 people. A solar heated 5 x 3m kidney shaped pool, adjacent to the main terrace is located securely and seperately in its own sun lounging and garden area. Between the two areas there are up to 8 sun loungers which can be moved easily on their wheels as required. The total outside area available is 280 sq metres. Utility Room: Utility closet with washing machine, mobile drying rack and storage space for cleaning equipment and gas bottles, which supply to hob and water heater for the kitchen & main bathroom. There is a seperate gas bottle and heater closet for the shower rooms. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath and beach towels and all linen are provided. The house is cleaned before guests arrival and on departure. For stays of 2 weeks and longer a change of linen and towels is provided at the end of each week. Special cleaning arrangements can be made. Other: External gas boiler and gas bottle closet for the two shower rooms (note above).

Amazing place and hosts!

We stayed in La Casa Del Limonero with our two girls (8 and 10) for about a week. Even though we told him he didn't have to, Bill met us at the airport in the middle of the night just to make sure we would find the way as smoothly as possible. When we arrived, also Sarah-Jane was there to welcome us even though it was around 00:30 in the night. She told us that she had adjusted her starting pack for norwegians which was superb especially for our girls.

The villa is beautiful, and we used the jacuzzi almost every day. The girls also used the swimmingpool which held around 20 °C. The place is very quiet. Occationally you will hear dogs barking or cocks crowing, but it's never annoying - actually somehow it made us feel we were part of a Cohen brothers movie!

Final tip: Be sure to ask Bill and Sarah-Jane in for a drink and then ask them about their lives! Sit down and enjoy a roller-coaster of a story!

Wow. Absolutley Stunning Villa.

The best villa we have ever stayed in - and we have stayed in many villas over the years. It is set in a rural location which is very tranquil and relaxing and has stunning facilities thoughtfully provided by the owners Sarah-Jane & Bill. The villa was scrupulously clean and the welcome pack on arrival was exceptionally thoughtful and generous. There was a lovely vase of flowers and bowl of fresh fruit which was a lovely touch. The villa is fully loaded with appliances and is suitable for couples or families. The patio is large with BBQ and a large steaming hot tub Jacuzzi. The garden area is a real sun trap where the swimming pool is situated. These are all meticulously cleaned and serviced daily by Bill. These facilities were well used by us after soaking up the February sunshine or upon returning from a trip out exploring the island of Tenerife.

Sarah-Jane & Bill were exceptional hosts as they were genuine lovely people who respected your privacy but very knowledgeable if you need any recommendations of places to visit or restaurants in which to eat out.

We are hoping to make a return booking in the near future for another wonderful holiday at Casa del Lemonero.

Thank you Sarah-Jane & Bill for such generous hospitality and for sharing your beautiful home with us for our 10 day winter break.

What a wonderful place to rereat mind, body an soul! We never had such a warm and friendly welcome in a holiday-house. Bill and Sara Jane were so nice, humourous and helpful hosts! The villa is extremly well prepared for 6 persons and everything is on a high and clean status. The self-made lemonjam, the wine and sitting in the hot tub under the nightskies, were real highlights of our holiday. Also the nice little smalltalks with Sara Jane and Bill. Because of that we really felt at home and we loved coming back into the quietnes of casa del limonero after our journeys and trips all above the island. Hope it was not our last stay there!

Fantastic Holiday, Villa and Hosts!!

Well what can we say… a fantastic holiday.

Villa is very clean and the best stocked villa we have ever stayed in and the best welcome pack we have ever received, and we’ve stay in a lot of Villa’s all over the world. Hot tub and BBQ area was great.

Bill and Sarah Jane like the villa were the best hosts we have had. Nothing is too much trouble we loved the home grown tomatoes and vegetables and not least the homemade lemon marmalade. A big thank you for the wine tour you organised it was the highlight of our stay. Will definitely be back again and would not stay anywhere else!

Further Details:

Arona is the administrative centre for Los Cristianos and its environs. It has a good little supermarket, 2 banks, a pharmacy, a medical centre, a post office and a local restaurant on the road down the hill towards La Camella. There are also a couple of cafes and an excellent bakery / coffee shop ("Aroma"). Valle San Lorenzo is much bigger and rather more lively. There are several banks, 2 main supermarkets, a farmers' cooperative selling fruit and local produce, at least 2 bakeries, 4 ironmongers, a CEPSA fuel station (an important directional landmark and turning point for the house), a pharmacy, medical centre, post office, 2 good wine shops/off licences and a plethora of bars, cafes and restaurants.

We can organise golfing, walking, para-gliding, cycling, motor cycling, a visit to a bodega for the tasting of various wines, cheeses and delicatessan and/or a wine museum, botanical gardens. Plus island and marine sightseeing tours.

Booking Notes:
25% non refundable deposit on booking, should be paid by bank transfer (costs are clients' responsibility). Balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival, also by bank transfer. Alternatively, by arrangement with owners, balance on arrival in cash (€uros). Map & directions will be sent on receipt of deposit.
Security deposit: €200 is required to be paid upon arrival. Incidental damage (crockery & reasonable wear & tear) is acceptable. But clients will be liable for serious damage either through negligence or misuse. Guidance notes provided on arrival should prevent such occurrences. Copies of guidance notes can be sent to prospective clients prior to booking on request. The deposit is kept for 7 days after the clients departure and will be returned in full or in part depending upon the circumstances. In the event of serious damage, clients will be provided with photographic evidence and relevant invoices. Return of damage deposits can be made by cheque or bank transfer.
If guests have a problem finding the house, the owners are prepared to meet them at an agreed rendez-vous and guide them up to the house, particularly at night.. Please call 00 34 628 015 207 to confirm availability. NB: a minimum 2 week booking period is required between 18 Dec '15 & 6 Jan '16.
Changeover Day:
Normally we do not have same day changeovers, so that guests may leave at a time convenient to their flights. Otherwise it is 1100 departure and 1600 arrival. Guests will be advised accordingly.
Notes on prices:
Prices quoted for the villa with up to 4 people sharing. €15 is charged per night for each additional adult & €10 per night for each additional child (up to age 12. 13 is full price). Prices remain as advertised until mid January 2018. Christmas rate between 16/12/17 & 07/01/18, 2 week minimum stay and villa price €1190 per week. Easter rate from 23/03 to 15/04/18, villa price €1190 per week, additional individual rates apply as above.
