Chic Moroccan Style Villa w/Infinity Pool, Great Views Of Gulf Of St Tropez

Overview

Property

Updated: 23-Nov-2016
Villa in Ste Maxime, Domain Saut du Loup, Cote D'Azur, France - Peaceful Hilltop Location 10 Minutes Walk to White Sandy Beach and Restaurants.Breathtaking Sea View

This is a truly splendid unique house with wonderful views. It is an ideal house for groups of friends, large families or 2 families sharing. It has been very cleverly designed and charmingly French with Moroccan influences .A charming small courtyard with fountain leads to a huge open sitting room with cream linen sofas and fireplace. This room has the wow factor- everyone is totally captivated by the huge window/dooors leading to the main terrace overlooking the sea. The kitchen is open plan onto the sitting room and dining room .It is a well equipped kitchen with every convenience- oven, induction hob with large selection of good pans, water filter, juicer, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and lots of crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, table mats etc . There is an indoor dining table with 8 chairs but summer months make dining on either the upper terrace with a large stone table for 10 people or a separate round table for 4 very convivial. This is under a shady pergola and has amazing views to the sea. Downstairs near the pool is another shady pergola with seating for 10 next to the built in barbecue.

There are four double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms in the main house. The master double bedroom upstairs is huge and luxurious. It has its own private sunbathing terrace with spectacular view of the sea and a rather wonderful bathroom with silver wash basins, a large bath tub and a separate walk in Italian shower with polished plaster walls. The 2 double bedrooms downstairs have french doors opening to the pool and terrace and each have there own stylish bathrooms with showers and loos. There is a twin bedded room on the ground floor with charming shower room loo and wash basin. A separate studio flat has double bed and shower room and is more suited to a nanny or older children. All rooms in the main house have air-conditioning. There is a separate steam hamman in the main house fully tiled in navy blue.

There is a garage and small guardians house outside the villa within its gated walls for the housekeeper providing additional security but completely unobtrusive.

The large heated infinity swimming pool is surrounded by a mature garden with shrubs flowers and trees . The pool has a lovely gently sloping shallow end for wallowing and is perfect for children. The pool has wooden sunbeams with cushions and a basket of separate pool towels.Very large terraces on three levels overlook the Gulf of St Tropez with dining and barbecue areas and a children's play area.

Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

I am originally a naval architect and marine engineer from Greece having studied in England and lived most of my life travelling but based in London. I now live in Monaco with my partner Alison .We have 5 kids between us who all adore the South of France as much as we do. We love the ambient way of life, the food, the sea and the balmy sun-filled days even in winter. Having travelled extensively globally this property was a love at first sight gut reaction and I have never regretted it. The only hard thing is when we have to leave.

We stayed in this beautiful villa for 3 weeks and had a great time. The house is perfect regarding exterior, interior and location. We will for sure rent this villa again - and can highly recommend it.

Amazing vacation

  • 5 of 5

This summer we spent a week in this beautiful villa in Saint Maxime. We were greeted by the owners who with elegance and simplicity they have introduced in this beautiful relaxing retreat. Upon arriving to the terrace of the hall we were struck by the breathtaking views of the sea. The rooms are cozy and bright, the bathrooms large and hammam worthy of a SPA. The house offers many pleasant corners to relax or to party so we spent a lot of time of our stay in the lovely pool lulled by the sun and sight of the sea, but without forgetting the magnificent surrounding coastline. Experience to be repeated

Owner's Response: This review was received from an Italian group of guests who rented the house at the end of June 2015. We are always delighted to receive such a response as constructive criticism is extremely important to us and this review shows we are getting things right ! We always strive to improve and maintain things and it gives us great pleasure to think that we have provided this group with the holiday they both wanted and enjoyed.

Spectacularly unique house, incredible vi

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a really great family holiday in this incredible place. All three generations thoroughly enjoyed the facilities offered by Villa Johara, the pool was used every day (the lovely thick pool-side towels were a great bonus), the Hammam a couple of times and the barbecue too. We really appreciated the space in this lovely home and were fascinated by its original features – a surprise around every corner. The guardian, Mamar, was a smiling helpful presence whenever we needed him. We enjoyed a fabulous couscous prepared by him and his assistant.

We went on one excursion to Saint-Tropez (too crowded and definitely too expensive) and a couple of visits to Saint-Maxime which were much more enjoyable. But were so happy to return to the villa that we hardly left it after that.

Amazing location and beautiful villa!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This villa was outstanding, from the location to the views across the whole bay. The infinity pool was just to die for and there were great terraces for breakfast and dinner - even areas to entertain. We were close to restaurants, beaches and local shops. Perfect for day trips to Monaco, St Tropez, Cannes, Antibes and even Hyeres. I'm booking for next year asap!

Perfect bliss !

  • 5 of 5

We are a family with 3 teenage children and have rented many houses over the years. The difficulty is always to find somewhere that ticks all the boxes for adventurous youngsters and stressed and tired parents ! This house was so perfect that we are actually renting it again this year. There is a lot of space to get away from each other but lots of sun beds, shady terraces, sunny terraces and a very large beautiful pool with infinity views to the sea. Bedrooms are all large and well appointed. The kitchen even has a juicer. Our kids could walk ( climb back ) to the beach and local shops at Les Issambres for the bread etc. which gave them a lot of freedom. We drove to St Tropez ,which is much prettier than I thought it would be a couple of times, but found that we had everything we needed locally though obviously St Tropez has the glamour and more sophistication. The garden is very pretty with lots of colour and scented plants . Mamar the housekeeper cooked for us one night and we had an amazing tagine and marinated meat on the large built in barbecue . We came back completely relaxed and happy and cant wait to go back :))

Location

From the Owner

Amazing location and quite frankly there is no other house on the cote d'azure quite like it. It is unique in being a riad in France. Very stylish and interiorly designed with taste and discernment I bought the house and contents and have never regretted it. The hillside setting gives it a peace and tranquillity and yet it is so easy to dip down into the glamour and excitement of Ste Maxime and St Tropez. There are family unorganised beaches within walking distance at Les Issambres or more organised(beach beds, music, umbrellas) all very easy to get to at Ste Maxime and St Tropez. Theres plenty to do and see or just enjoy the stupendous views from the house and laze the day away around the heated pool and spacious terraces. Heaven !

Coast/Beach:

This Mediterranean seaside town is located 5km north of St Tropez, across the Gulf of St Tropez. The town is well situated, with white sandy beaches and clear turquoise sea 10 minutes walk from the villa. St Tropez can be accessed with a ferry service to avoid August traffic. Sailing jet skiing and water skiing facilities are all available at the nearest local beach very close to the villa. There are good reasonably priced restaurants and shops in Issambres and Ste Maxime.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Nice- 62km, the nearest ferry port is Ste Maxime -2km and the nearest railway station is Saint Raphael -14km. The hiring of a car is advised as its a shame to come here and not explore the many places around. Visiting St Tropez is possible without a car due to the little ferry which takes you across the bay and is actually preferable to sitting in traffic in high season. You have to go there to star gaze and wander around the little cobbled streets with delectable shops.

Distances:

St Maxime- 5km-10mins drive

St Tropez- 15km- can be 30 mins drive !

Frejus- 30 km

so many pretty villages but to be quite honest you wont want to leave the house and surrounds

Further Details:

This villa is great if you are looking for relaxation on beautiful beaches with the exciting proximity of extremely good nightlife. There are good provencal restaurants for every budget and glamorous bars and people watching if thats what you want too.The olive oil mills and the botanical gardens prove to be very popular and driving inland will take you to charming old fashioned quintessentially French villages away from the razzamataz. There are tennis courts, water sports, water parks, horse riding and fishing that are all nearby.

There are very few places that have it all but this house is one of the rare opportunities to sample the good life. A perfect holiday!

Facilities

From the Owner

All the above- ease of access to everything and yet everything provided at the villa should you wish to retreat. The pool being heated is blissfully warm and so inviting ! Its a lovely place to come to out of season as well as the excitement of the summer months . From early April the sun shines warmly and the sea starts to beckon. Autumn equally is bathed in golden sunshine and doesn't suffer from the wind that can prevail in other areas of Provence. July and August are always busy but thats the fun too ! the beach becomes lively and superb for people watching !Everything is gentle here and blissfully warm. The house has a lovely open fireplace for colder nights in November onwards and protected enough to still be able to eat on the terrace outside. This is a very special house all year round. Its near enough to travel to Cannes and Monaco and inland to beautiful Provencal villages. Truly a magical place.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: This is a very special and stylish house which delights all who stay here. It was designed by Sean Connerys architect for himself before he moved to Marrakesh. It has a wonderful setting and has been much loved as a house for families and groups of friends who find the peaceful tranquility and proximity to the sea a perfect combination with the heady night life and glamour of nearby St Tropez. The accomodation is luxurious and chic but not so precious as to alienate children. The Hamman has been a fabulous addition especially in the cooler months as is the heating to the pool. The pool has a shallow end ideal for young children but is big enough to swim laps and play ball games. Outside: The master bedroom has french doors opening to its own small private terrace with 2 sunbeds and a small breakfast table(or a private glass of wine a deux) overlooking the sea and Gulf of St Tropez. The property has south facing terraces and gardens with well stocked flowers ,shrubs and trees down the hillside. There is a garage and guardians keeper house outside the house compound but within the gated walls of the villa. It has a heated infinity swimming pool with great sea views and a Moroccan style hamam. Very large terraces on three levels provide lots of seating and sunbathing areas. wooden sunbeds are provided with mattresses and large canvas sunshade umbrellas on stands. There is a very large teak dining table with 12 chairsoutside but also additional tables and chairs strategically making this a great house for parties or just hiding away with a book. The barbecue area is purpose built with washing facilities and food preparation area. Absolutely magical when lit with candles. Utility Room: Washing machine /dryer in the studio flat.Iron and ironing board and a separate sunny terrace round the back of the house with drying area for swimwear towels etc. inflatable toys and lilos for pool are stored here. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: the house will be immaculately clean when you arrive. Additional linen changes and daily cleaning can be arranged at extra cost. A welcome starter pack of groceries and loo paper etc can be supplied at extra cost and on agreement with the owner.
