Casa Grande and Casa Pequeña

Casa Grande and Casa Pequeña together offer a wonderful location for larger groups of family and friends. The large house sleeps 14 people and the guest house, Casa Pequeña, sleeps four people. The guest house is some 80 metres from the main house so both are secluded and private and have their own pools, but can easily be reached along a driveway or through a small garden gate. Special rates are available for guests who wish to rent both properties together.

About the property

Our two lovely villas are set in beautiful gardens high in the hills above the pretty Spanish village of Mijas. On a clear day you can see the Atlas mountains of Morocco from the gardens and terraces. Malaga airport is a 30-minute drive as is Marbella to the south. Picturesque Mijas pueblo is just a five-minute drive. The two houses on a 10,000m² (2.5-acre) site on the south-facing slopes of the Mijas mountain. The main house, Casa Grande, has 6-bedrooms and 5-bathrooms and sleeps 14 people. It has a wealth of classical Spanish features, beautiful mature gardens and a 12-metre heated (optional) swimming pool located in a private walled area. The guest house, Casa Pequeña, sleeps 4 people and has its own swimming pool and private gardens. Both properties are totally private and secluded being some 80 metres from each other. They were built in a classic Spanish style to reflect the rustic location.

About Jonathan Coleman

We live near Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire but are now enjoying our houses near Mijas more than ever having both taken early retirement after selling our respective businesses. With five grown-up children, three beautiful grand-daughters and a lovely crowd of friends it is not hard to put together a house party in Spain and this is the perfect place to do it.

Jonathan Coleman purchased this villa in 1998

Why Jonathan Coleman chose Mijas

Everyone falls in love with the property. Just as we did, literally buying it the day after setting eyes on it for the very first time. Its stunning views and lovely gardens combine to create a relaxing haven in an almost rural, mountain location with the advantage of fantastically easy access to the airport and the lively towns and beaches of the Costa del Sol. We love the fact that six hours (sometimes even less) after leaving our home in Oxfordshire we can be sitting on the terrace sipping a cool beer and planning where to have lunch. Although we really love cooking and entertaining we also enjoy eating out at the many and very varied local restaurants.

What makes this villa unique

We have a large family and lots of friends and this is perfect for parties of all ages. Guests never seem to want to venture far from the house and pool but those who do, like the golfers, love the huge selection of courses nearby. Children love to visit the water park in Fuengirola or one of the many beaches along the coast and a group of us always sample a bit of “real Spain” on horseback from a nearby Andalucian riding centre. However at the end of the day, particularly at the hottest times of year, it is wonderful to drive back up the mountain to the slightly cooler and certainly more peaceful location of our villas for some true “away from it all” R & R.

Beautiful spacious Spanish villa in quiet setting

  • 4 of 5

This villa is perfect for large family gatherings with its huge terrace and good kitchen and lovely pool which is set away from the house so fairly safe for children. There are no near neighbours so hilarity over table tennis matches and enjoyment of the pool is not an issue. We had Casa Grande and Pequena and enjoyed the gardens too. It is very well equipped too including large paella pans!

Owner's Response: We are so pleased your family had a lovely holiday. You were perfect guests. We ourselves have grown-up children and grand-children and it is lovely that all the generations can get together for a fun, family holiday. Table tennis tournaments are always brilliant fun and Casa Grande and Casa Pequena are very special, get-away-from-it-all places for everyone, no matter what age. Please do come back for another holiday with us - Gay and Jonathan.

Perfect for a family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We rented both Las Granadas and Casa Pequena for a week's family gathering earlier in August 2014. It was the perfect location for our party of 10 adults and 7 kids with the beautiful terrace with a stunning vista the focal point of the property - it is ideal for family meals. There are also plenty of other secluded spaces to soak up the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside or relax by the lovely pools. All the rooms are well appointed and the houses are equipped with everything we could need. Mijas is a short drive away and a lovely spot. We couldn't recommend this property enough.
