Character farmhouse with solar heated pool, free WIFI and UK freesat 40inch TV

Updated: 19-Aug-2016
Farmhouse - Perfect For relaxing and surrounded by fields and forests to explore and wildlife to discover.

La Maison Verte has been extensively renovated from original farm buildings and retain many original features such as stone walls and wooden beams. Within a few steps of the property guests will find the 10x4 metre solar heated pool. The pool is covered by a transparent abri which keeps the pool warm and inviting even in the rain and wind of autumn and also ensures children can only enter supervised. This extends our pool season dramatically as guests can often use the pool from March to November depending on weather conditions at no extra cost . The sides of the pool can be raised if required. For 2015 we have installed a large patio area with gas and traditional chiminea style bbq with lighting for the evening. The gardens are surrounded by beautiful farmlands and forests accessed by the quiet country lanes perfect for rambling or cycling. The area is full of wildlife and perfect for guests with an interest in bird watching.

About the Owner

We are a family run business and pride ourselves on exceeding your expectations. We want you to have the holiday that you have dreamed of so La Maison Verte is appointed to the level we would like if we were going on holiday ourselves!

We moved out to France permanently in June 2014 to devote ourselves to our business. We are available at all times to answer any questions you may have and to make sure that you have everything you need for a fabulous holiday. Perhaps we can recommend a day out, book a restaurant or arrange a hassle free picnic.

The solar heated pool is invaluable for couples and families looking for an early or late break or just a windy day as the abri keeps the water warm and inviting. Our guests love it!

Amanda and Ian look forward to meeting you soon.

Great gite for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a lovely family holiday with a 5 year old and a 10 million month old. The gite exceeded our expectations, it was spotlessly clean and a real home from home. The pool was fantastic , on a hot day the sides could be opened up and on a rainy day it was still lovely and warm.

The location of the gite is perfect if you want peace and quiet.

Ian and Amanda were great hosts with lots of tips and recommendations .

I would recommend this gite to anyone looking for a restful family holiday in lovely surroundings. We can't wait to go back.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for another 5* review! We love having families to stay and it was a pleasure to see a young family really enjoying the facilities. We do pride ourselves on a spotless gite, excellent facilities and the added extras such as home grown produce when in season. It is great to hear that we exceeded expectations. It is a pleasure for us to do what we do and even more when we here how much you have enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you again soon.

Brilliant place for a relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

Sarah and I (with Tammie the dog) had a brilliant two weeks at La Maison Verte. Ian and Amanda were perfect hosts, along with Will, Janis, Dexter and Grayson) making us very welcome from the moment we arrived and sorting out any problems very quickly. La Maison Verte has everything you could need, and more, for a very comfortable stay, both inside and outside. The swimming pool was great and, with the solar heating and abri, meant we could still laze by the pool on the few chilly/wet days we had when we arrived. We were joined by two teenagers for the second week and they loved it, too. Lots of space and lovely walks around La Blatiere, L'Absie very convenient for groceries and local restaurants - though you need to check when they're open. One of the local garages fixed our car for nothing. Would heartily recommend La Maison Verte.

Owner's Response: Thank you Sarah and Peter for your lovely comments and adding another 5 Star review for La Maison Verte! It was great to greet another family to the property who found lots of places to visit locally. The courtyard is certainly a sun-trap on the hot days, and the covered pool area keeps the water clean and warm when the weather is undecided. We would love to see you again!

Quiet, relaxing, what more could you want?

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a quiet, perfect getaway then this is the place to be. Set just 5 minutes drive from the local village it's rural enough to get absolute silence but also near enough to amenities. We spent a lovely week there for a relaxing half term away from work. The owners are brilliant and helpful if there is anything you should need. They have 2 beautiful dogs which are docile and loving and love playing about on the grass.

There is a beautiful pool area which is covered so you can go in rain or shine. It also makes it lovely a warm in the sunshine. There is also a cute patio area out the back that looks out onto a lovely grassy area that is perfect for children to play on. There is also lots of pool toys that are used to entertain the children.

There are shops nearby if you need anything and a bar and cafe in the village nearby. We also visited Pescalis which is only 20 minutes down the road where we visited the aquarium. It was short but interesting and you can also play mini golf and go fishing.

Perfect Hosts

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay here with Ian and Amanda, who were perfect attentive hosts. The kids loved the dogs and the covered pool meant that, despite unseasonally cooler weather, the children could still spend hours in the pool without getting cold. The house was spacious and very well equipped and the gifts of wine, home made jam and cakes on arrival were a lovely touch!

Top tips - make sure that your sat nav/route plan has the right La Blatiere or you end up 20km away at the wrong one like our friends did! and book your restaurant (especially on a bank holiday) to save having to raid Amanda's larder on your last night!!!

Holiday Gite

  • 5 of 5

The five of us (my wife, my two teenage daughters, my 12 year old son and I) had a great time in La Maison Verte. We found the accommodation to be not only well equipped but roomy and clean. Ian and Amanda make you feel very welcome and comfortable and are there for any questions you may have. The pool was a good size and temperature spot on.

The countryside is very peaceful and gently rolling and I found many great routes for my morning cycle rides.

All in all a relaxing holiday in the French countryside.

A great time

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit to the gite, this time with grand-parents as well. A great family holiday. The gite and the area are exactly what we are looking for in a relaxing holiday. In fact its starting to feel like coming home! There is always a fantastic welcome from Amanda, Ian and Janice, Alex, Will and Dexter the dog - so much so that we now count them as family friends rather than just someone we rent a gite from.

There are plenty of places to visit approx 1 hour away, or a relaxing time can be spent 'chillaxing' at the gite.

The gites are exactly as described and very clean. To call it customer service wouldn't adequately describe the way you are looked after - nothing seems to be too much trouble and there is always the opportunity to set the world to rights over a glass (bottle!) of wine in the evening.

There are some great restaurants in the area which Ian and Amanda can give recommendations for having forced themselves to try them first - their only recommendations come through personal experience!

We have already booked for next year!

From the Owner

We spend time listening to our guests so we are constantly trying to improve your holiday experience as we know how precious holidays can be. It feels like a world away in the tranquility of the secluded courtyard; indeed the only disturbance may be the very occasional tractor or a cuckoo! Relaxation is the aim at Le Reve Francais but you are still close to beaches, picturesque villages, theme parks and beautiful walks along peaceful lanes and through the forest. On holiday with us you can have days out for free foraging in the woods and spotting wildlife, perfect to keep children occupied! After a busy day it is easy to relax looking at the sky and perhaps spotting a shooting star.
