About the Owner

Our family live in East Anglia and have been visiting Foca for the last 19 years. Our children were 8 and 10 years old when we first visited, now it is as much of an extended family for them as it is us. We have had so many amazing adventures that we would like others to discover. We are always happy to share our experiences and our enthusiasm for our home and the town of Foca and invite you to contact us.

From the Owner

We had our first family package holiday in Foca in 1998 and fell in love with its unique unspoilt charm. We felt that it was almost stuck in a time warp and all of the modern day effects from mass tourism had not touched Foca and we had discovered an unknown treasure. We have always been made to feel so welcome by the local people and when we return it is like going back to see our extended family. Over the last 14 years Foca has developed but it is still predominately unknown and remains unspoilt, and we wanted a home here to return to each year. The combination of fantastic seafood clear blue waters wonderful local people convinced us that we wanted Foca to be a regular part of our lives.

Further Details:

Foca retains the feel of village life with its heart centering around two harbours, the smaller being where most people congregate. There are good selection of restaurants many on the water front with a selection of cafe bars. Sit a while and whilst you enjoy a refreshing drink watch the fishermen sorting their catch and mending their nets. There is very little foreign tourism in Foca but you will always find the town alive and with everything open no matter what time of year. It is small resort and the majority of holiday makers are Turkish. Many of the houses in and around the town are owned by wealthy families who live in Izmir and come out to Foca at the weekend, making the town naturally feel busier. There are many shops in the centre of town to explore and on Tuesday there is a large market that sets up wandering its way through the streets, with everything you would expect from a Turkish bazaar. You can buy freshly ground spices, local honey, arrays of seasonal fresh vegetables, clothes, linen, Turkish delight, olives, local cheeses, and household goods. Visiting the market will certainly give you a slice of local life and should not be missed.

From the Owner

The things we love about our house: We are just 2 minutes walk from the beach, with a welcoming cafe serving excellent traditional food and drinks. The predictable Aegean climate throughout the year, with wall to wall sunshine throughout the summer. Fully equipped house and kitchen, a real home from home. The town is within comfortable walking distance or by the local bus (dolmus) that runs a regular shuttle service past the end of the road. Local shop selling fresh breads and essentials only a short walk away. Fresh Figs, Apricots and Lemons can be picked from the garden depending on the season. Close enough to town but far enough away that you can enjoy the tranquillity of your own evenings entertainment. The relaxed atmosphere of alfresco dining under the covered veranda.
