About the property

Apartment in Alpe D'Huez, French Alps - Quiet location, 5 minutes walk to the ski lift, local shops and restaurants.

Sleeps up to 6. 1 bedroom holiday apartment located in the Eclose sector of Alpe D'Huez, less than 5 mins to the local shops, restaurants and ski hire. A 10 minute walk to the main town, our ski apartment is on the 1st floor in a modern block with a lift. This is a clean, tidy, bright south facing warm apartment. The map makes the Eclose area looks to be a fair way from the main town but in reality it is not. It is like a small village on its own, yet still very close to the main town. In fact its closer to the main high street than the big main hotels at the top of the resort.You can access both sides of the ski resort from this area and you will not have to wait to get on the lift, which you are very likely to if staying in the main town. 'PLEASE NOTE....The Tourist tax of £1 Per person per night over 12 yrs old will be added to your initial enquiry/submission as it is payable before arrival and NOT in the resort as stated. As yet this website does not have the ability to add this prior to initial enquiry.

About Ian Murch

We are a family of four and the apartment is our holiday home. We are now renting it out to help pay the bills and enable us to continue having the best holiday ever.

Dad has skied for 30 + years so he is responsible for introducing everyone else. More than 10 years ago we went to Alpe D'Huez and stayed in the same block we now own the apartment in. We loved the resort so much that we came back at the end of the season and were lucky enough to find an apartment in the same place. Mum is a little nervous but can still ski all the way across the resort. The Two boys just love it, are natural skiers and there is so much else to do from swimming to table tennis to skating. The rest is history.

Why Ian Murch chose Huez

We bought in the same block that we first stayed in so knew it was close enough to the lifts and everything else as far as location goes. The boys were 3 and 8 then so not having to go too far was important.

The area is quiet, kind of a small village on the side of the main resort, yet close enough to walk to town at any time if we want more.

There is lots to do if you have the energy after skiing, If not sitting in one of the bars chilling out in the sun with a beer or coffee is priceless.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is always warm, even with out or with very little heating, so it does not get that stuffy feel you get in winter/high resorts from too much dry heat/air. The heating is there to turn up if you wish of course.

There are two lifts so arrival and departure is easy. Nothing worse than logging large suitcases up flights of narrow stairs.

The view when you get up is stunning, it looks right across the valley at the mountain opposite.

There are some great local restaurants, so you don't have to go far if you don't want to.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment will sleep 6, however this involves 2 sleeping in the main living area and as such is a little cosy at night times as the 5/6th bed/s have to be pulled out. Due to a new laundry company there is now an additional charge of £10 per person for the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th persons. Utility Room: Dedicated Bike room in the apartment block for the summer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen provided, but not towels. We request you leave the apartment clean and tidy as our cleaners are only able to 'Polish'. This is generally the same for most ski apartments. Other: separate WC. Ski locker located on the ground floor.

Nice apartment in Alpe D'huez

Nice compact 1st floor apartment in a very central location. Very suitable for our needs as we were participating in La Marmotte cycle which finishes on top of Alpe D'huez. We had to literally freewheel from the finish line to our accommodation.

There was just two of us...which was great for the size of the apartment.

Great base for exploring the area by bike

Second time we've stayed at this apartment. It's a great apartment that is well described by the owner and accurately shown on the photographs. We had three adults with cycling kit and the apartment had sufficient space for all our needs.

The owner Ian is a great communicator and replies quickly to queries. There's some great bars and restaurants within walking distance and if you go, check out the O'Bar which is a very friendly place with great burgers.

Great property

Comfortable, clean, and well maintained ski apartment. It's about 3 minute walk to the ski lifts, and you can ski right back to the door. It's slightly outside the main town (maybe 10 minutes brisk walk), however there is a supermarket and several other shops/restaurants nearby.

The apartment itself comfortably holds 4 people (6 may be a bit cosy though!). Appliances (hob, microwave, mini oven) were in good working order, and there was plenty of hot water, at a good pressure.

Ian responded quickly to questions, and was very helpful in offering advice and information on getting to/from the apartment, and making the most of Alpe D'Huez.

Ideal apartment for a weeks skiing, well located 5/10 minutes from the centre and pretty much ski in ski out. The apartment is tidy and well equipped, and the owner was great to deal with and very helpful- would recommend. Thanks!

Great little apartment

Apartment was neat and tidy and with everything needed. The apartment was a short walk to the main road and restaurants/bars. We were on a cycling holiday and the location was excellent for daily trips around the Alps. Stunning scenery from balcony. Owner was friendly and easy to deal with at all times.

Coast/Beach:

If you are thinking of a Two centre holiday, then have a week here, road or mountain biking and a week in the south of France, approx half a days drive from Grenoble.

Travel:

Fly to Grenoble(1 hour 15 mins drive/transfer) or Lyon(2 hours transfer but more flights in and out) Both have Budget airlines.

Coach transfers direct to Alpe D'Huez (we recommend Bens Bus from Grenoble). Car hire (car not needed in resort).

Drive from Calais about 9 to 11 hours depending on how often you stop (550 miles), We do this at least once a year, can be done in a day. There is parking close nearby.

Distances:

Note: on the map the apartment looks to be a fair way from the main town, however in reality it is only 10 minutes walk to main town. There is a walk way/cut through from the apartment area, We walk this many times a week with our kids since they were very young. You will not need a car to get around the resort.

15 to 20 mins drive down the hill to Bourg D'Oisans. 1hr 15 mins drive to/from Grenoble airport. 2 hours to Lyon/ airport.

Further Details:

Alpe D'huez, apart from fantastic skiing has something for everyone, including: Indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sports centre ( with squash, table tennis, climbing, Gym, badminton and others) skating rink, snow bikes, husky rides,Tennis, mountain biking, horse riding to name a few. Some of which are included in the Visalpe ski pass.

The Ski area is vast with good selections of runs for all abilities and the Sarenne, 16km, which is the longest black in Europe.

MOUNTAIN BIKING is very popular in the summer with dedicated runs and the main lifts working. The scenery is fantastic with many mountain lakes and restaurants, what better place to bike than in the Alps! Our apartment block has a dedicated Bike storage room through 2 locked doors. Of course Alpe d'Huez is also the famous hill in the Tour de France race.
