Child friendly Stone Pigeonnier & Cottage in Auvillar with beautiful pool and stunning views in the heart of rural France.

We are proud to announce that we have recently awarded 4* by Clevacances French tourist authority for all accommodation at Le Farat and unparalleled in this area.

This 18th century stone property was originally a working farm and vineyard but was renovated and converted to a luxury private home with outbuildings and extensive lawned parkland 25 years ago. Our two gites and B&B suite are indepentant to each other and all guest accommodation is private and peaceful. Equally, we have recently refurbished and furnished each holiday property with a mix of modern and antique furniture, providing luxury, comfort and style but maintaining original features and character of the property. Le Farat sits in its own little valley and is approached from two different directions along graveled drives through the 5 acre grounds and orchard. There are no immediate neighbours and we are situated just a few minutes walk from a fantastic and reasonably priced restaurant. For those that do not want to cook on a daily basis or use the BBQ's provided it is a treat to wander to the little stone village, take in the views and eat superb locally produced and presented food!

This cute and pretty stone cottage was recently refurbished and boasts a large fully equipped kitchen/diner, separate lounge with wood burner, large flatscreen tv with freesat, free wifi. There are two modern bathrooms, one downstairs with a large italian style walk in shower and twin sinks, the other is a traditional bathroom with bath/shower. The 2 bedrooms are in the eaves of the property with plenty of exposed beams and stone walls. There is additional single bed on the large landing area, which is ideal for a child or teenager. The property is light and airy and an ideal place to spend a quiet and relaxing holiday with all facilities at your disposal with beautiful views over the garden, private lake and countryside beyond.

About the Owner

We are a middle aged couple that took the plunge and moved to France in 2010 with our children 3 dogs and 1 cat to live a more peaceful and relaxed lifestyle. Although not speaking fluent French, we are learning fast and have, with the help of our youngest daughter and school connections, integrated well. The locals are welcoming and friendly and the village activities/events calendar is extensive. We already feel part of French life after a relatively short time.

We live on-site in the main house and since our move have been working hard to create top class holiday accommodation at Le Farat. Look at our Trip Advisor reviews to see what our guests think so far! Our only regret is we did not do this earlier. If you have not visited this area before, I am sure you will be impressed.

Our tick list was extensive when looking to relocate the family and run a business in France. After a lot of hard work we think we have found exactly what we were looking for at Le Farat. For us as a family, Auvillar has a great sense of community but add to this that it is directly on the famous walk way "Saint Jacques de Compostelle" and a "Plus Beaux Village de France" really makes life just that bit special for us and an ideal place for a get away from it all holiday for our guests. The region is renowned for fruit, wine, Sunflowers, medieval villages etc.. The community encourages tourists and involve all at the first excuse for a festival! With many large towns and Toulouse within 1 hour we are ideally placed to take both rural life and city experiences when we want them, just perfect!

Le Farat is situated near Auvillar in the Tarn et Garonne, Midi-Pyrenees, South West France between Bordeaux and Toulouse. 10 minutes from the A62 Motorway J8. 50 minutes from Toulouse International Airport. Airports served from the UK by BA, Easyjet, BMI, BMI Baby, Air France, Flybe and RyanAir. 1.5 hours from Bergerac airport. 35 Minutes from Agen TGV station. 7 hours from St Malo. 9.5 hours from Calais. A Car recommended to get the best from the area.

Further Details:

Auvillar has a tourist office, village store, a newsagents, bakery, post office and cash point, tourist shops, chemist and weekly Sunday farmers market as well as numerous tea/coffee shops and restaurants.

Valence d'Agen, the nearest large town, has three supermarkets one with a cash point, banks, bakeries, hairdressers, bars and restaurants, cinema etc.. It also has a large bustling weekly market on a Tuesday providing all the amenities needed for your stay. The nearest petrol stations are to be found here with the cheapest being at the supermarkets. On the outskirts of the village there is a heated indoor swimming pool with water slides.

Stay tax €1 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the owner upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 12 years.

Changeover Day:
Saturday change overs preferred, but are flexible and we will try to work around specific requests where possible outside of summer holidays. For mid week arrivals you have the option of booking our B&B suite before moving into the gite.

Arrival after 4pm and departure before 11am please.

Notes on prices:
The B&B suite is charged at 110€ per night for 2 people. If it is to be used as a family room there is an additional charge of 25€ per night for a maximum occupancy of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). Local taxes are charged at 0.65 cents per adult (Over 12 yrs) per night on all accommodation.

Booking Notes:
€200 Refundable breakage deposit per gite with final booking payment.
25% Non-refundable deposit payable on booking, balance due 8 weeks before travel.
Payment by online bank transfer preferred for Gite bookings. Cheques accepted or Credit/Debit cards accepted via PayPal only with a small admin charge.

On the edge of Tarn et Garonne and within miles of Gers, Haute Garonne and Lot et Garonne, there is a wealth of different countryside, sights and experiences to be had, you can even stroll to a local top class and affordable restaurant raved about by locals and tourists alike. Le Farat has the benefit of being in a quiet valley flanked on one side by a small wood and on the other open fields with no immediate neighbours. The house is frequently surrounded by sunflowers and has its own private fishing lake. A country lane that passes the house rarely sees a car and the only thing to be heard is the village clock chiming at 7am, midday and 7pm, bliss! For those wanting to discover the region Auvillar, River Garonne, Valence d'Agen, Canal des Deux Mers, Agen, Moissac, Montauban, Auch and Toulouse are all within easy reach. Hot tourist spots of the SW are just a short car drive and all can easily be done in a day to name a few: Bordeaux, Basin d'Arcachon and Dune de Pilat, St Emilion, Dordorgne and Lot valley, Rocamadour, Cahors and St Cirq lapopie, St Antonin Nobel Val, Cordes sur ciel, Albi and the Toulouse lautrec art gallery, Carcassonne, Foix, Lourdes and Pyrenees mountains etc, etc....

  • Notes on accommodation: The properties are child friendly. We have a large games room containing a table tennis table, table football, dart board and large air hockey table, step machine, fridge and seating. We also have a trampoline and a selection of children's garden games available to use on request (supervision advised). Bikes and fishing rods and poles available to hire. Sorry, but we have a no pet policy. TGV/Airport collection and drop off possible (please ask for prices). Cot, high chair and potty available. Pool towels are not provided. Rates include linen & bath towels (refreshed weekly). Welcome pack incl. Gite electric heating charged on metered use for Winter lets but wood for wood burner s provided free of charge. Outside: The front garden is surrounded by a 500m hedge and has unbroken views of the surrounding farmland. The back garden is on two levels. The top raised garden is for the private use of the Bed & Breakfast guests and the lower back garden of some 3 acres is open parkland and contains the private fishing lake, again with unbroken views across the surrounding farmland that is frequently covered in sunflowers. Both gites have their own private terraces and BBQs. The shared unheated 6x12m saltwater swimming pool frequently reaches 28 degrees in summer and is walled and gated for security, it also has a changing area. A covered terrace for outside dining is next to a large brick and stone built BBQ and with subtle lighting is ideal for an evening of alfrseco dining
