20th August 2011 Mrs L' by text shortly after arrival:- "We are fed, watered and absolutely flabbergasted by your beautiful house."

31st October 2011 Mrs B, just to say thank you so much for such a wonderful holiday setting. It is unrivalled. It was very kind of you to allow us to stay an extra night, and we made the most of the good weather with a walk to lantic beach.

I/We will definitely rebook and will recommend your beautiful house to anyone looking for an out of the ordinary holiday house that combines the perfect setting with easy access to coast, walks, Fowey and comfort!

"What can I say? Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home. It is stunning - attention to detail second to none and an absolutely unbelievable setting. The bedrooms are a joy in the way you've themed them and the picture gallery - wow! We'll treasure memories of Cornwall when back in Menorca. A wonderful week! MPM Property Management Menorca.

Wonderful house in quiet wooded area with great walks and creek nearby

  • 5 of 5

Amazing kitchen with more crockery than John Lewis! Just wished there was more of us so we could have taken advantage of all the beautiful bowls, plates etc! The beds were so comfortable they felt like they were brand new. The conservatory was a lovely space to spend the evenings playing cards with great views of trees and wildlife. The drive was a little scary to negotiate but we got the hang of it. The underfloor heating warmed the house very quickly. The den was filled with DVDs - it took longer to decide on one than to watch it! I would have loved to have stayed longer and read all the books that were everywhere- truly a wonderfully relaxing holiday home if you just buy all your food in and shut the doors for a week. We would heartily recommend a stay here!

Fabulous week at Treetops

  • 5 of 5

Dear Sarah and Hugh

Gorgeous location peaceful and tranquil. The grandchildren went crabbing and canoeing with their mum to Fowey and back. We all went on hikes to Polruan and in Bodinnick we had a delicious lunch at The Ferry Inn. We went to dog friendly beaches, Par Sands and part of Looe beach. Everyone was happy with their bedrooms and bathrooms, there was plenty of room for everyone in the kitchen/diner and lovely sun room plus TV room, large and small decking areas.

Our dog had the best week of her life and the dog wash room was brilliant!

Thank you for a wonderful week in your special home

We are all going on a Tree Tops holiday

  • 5 of 5

Treetops is an outstanding place to stay, four adults and two dogs had an amazing time. The surroundings are stunning and lots of excellent walks to be had. The creek is a great place to relax and enjoy the views.

Treetops house is to a very high standard with plenty of room indoors and outside. The owners and head cleaner make you stay perfect in every way. Would definitely highly recommend to anyone.

Comments from the girls (dogs) The canine cabin was the best ever with lots of bubbles in the bath.

Fabulous house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Treetops for a week at the start if the Easter holidays, with two teenagers studying for exams and an excitable dog. The pre-holiday information we received from Sarah was first class as was the communication during our stay from the local house-keeper. The house is superbly equipped, the numerous bathrooms and bedrooms are very clean and well presented and the dog cleaning area a real bonus for us, our dog and the owners. This house comes very highly recommended and is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Lovely break

  • 5 of 5

Loved it. We booked this property for my 50th birthday treat (Feb '14). & our party covered 3 generations, various step children, and included Reg (family Labrador). I was slightly nervous because this was the first time we had used Owners Direct ... we were not disappointed: the house, location, facilities and owner service were fantastic.

The house is as beautiful as the pictures show - and was immaculate. The open-plan kitchen and dining space was warm and bright and made communal meals social events. The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely & comfortable and there was plenty of space for quiet escape and privacy (vital on a family holiday!).

The canine cabin/wash room was useful - for Reg but also a great place to leave walking boots, wellies, running shoes etc. Being able to keep the dog relatively clean meant we could relax about him being with us in such a lovely house...

The house is located in a peaceful wooded valley which was filled with snowdrops during our stay. Ideal for walking (a short stroll to the coast) - and not far from Polruan. We highly recommend the fish and chips in The Lugger. Fowey is easy to get to - the ferry trip became a daily mini adventure.

The service we received from the friendly owners exceeded our expectations too. All queries were answered promptly. When we first arrived there were fresh flowers in the kitchen & clotted cream tea bits waiting in the fridge. During our stay, we had a minor issue with one of the bathrooms (fused lights) - this was fixed quickly and cheerfully the same afternoon after one call. Impressive. Our deposit was returned, unprompted, by return of post at the end of our week too.

It was a special week. We WILL be re-booking in the future :)

Owner's Response: Dear Debbie, I have just got back from 2 gruelling hours in the Dentist's chair utterly worn out! I read your comments and had a good cry. it made the Dentist's chair more tolerable (but not any more comfortable!). With love to you all and of course, to Ruby, Minxie, Teddy and Holly. I'm glad they had such four legged fun - that is what it is all about!!!!

Location

From the Owner

We drove down the tiny winding lane and as it banked steeply upwards – there was the house. My eyes filled with tears and there really was a lump in my throat. It got better. We walked to the front of the house and the silence of the magnificent forest around us was so powerful, the springtime hues of green sessile oaks bowing down to the creek below so vibrant, the silent waters of the creek and the towering skies above were truly awesome. We had found a dream. We have spent the last 20 years in the holiday business – making holidays come true for other people. Until now in Menorca – but now we have found somewhere truly special in Cornwall. We are opening the doors of this special house and it’s unique location to you all.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Ferry : at 2 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : at 2 Kilometres Nearest Beach : at 2 Kilometres Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

Fowey Royal Regatta in August is a week long festival with sailing races, gig racing, an unbelievable display by the Red Arrows most of it happening over the house, fireworks, processions, bands, disco and many more local events. Daphne Du Marier festival in May hosts many literary speakers, music and other events and the Lostwithiel Dickensian Christmas festival. If however you are self sufficient on the special interests front, do we begin with the abundance of wildlife on the creek, last time out with the dogs we were dive bombed by a Kingfisher. There are herons, moorhens and other waders, swans, a family of ducks, the boss having the dirtiest laugh you will ever hear. At night the hooting of the owls from one side of the forest to the other is truly magnificent. We have bats scooting around the house feeding on the wing.

If you have brought the dog/s, kick out on the Hall walk, the mid point is just below at the weir bridge. Like all good walks at either end there is a pub.

Coast/Beach:

Some of the best secluded beaches in Cornwall are along the stretch of the coast from Lantic Bay to Lansallos. Safe for swimming at, great for BBQs and surrounded by rock pools for children to go crabbing.

Readymoney Cove is an easy 15 minute walk from Fowey town centre and good for families with young children.

Surfers and big wave enthusiasts can easily drive to Fistral beach at Newquay or Polzeath beach.

Travel:

Driving: London five hours (260 miles), Bristol two and half hours (150 miles), Exeter one and half hours (80 miles), Plymouth 45 minutes (35 miles), Liskeard 30 minutes (15 miles). Train: Par, Lostwithiel and Liskeard stations with excellent services to London, Bristol and Birmingham. Airports: Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth and Newquay. If you look at Treetops on Google Street Map, please note this was taken in 2009, we bought and totally renovated a year later.

Distances:

Fowey is 10 mins by car/passenger ferry. Liskeard is 15 miles away (30 minute drive) and Plymouth 35 miles (45 minute drive). There is an excellent Spar shop at Pelynt which is open late, stocks everything you may need and won an award for the best Spar shop in the country. We are hoping to introduce a shopping service, if we can get it organised we will arrange for your get you started shopping to be at Treetops when you arrive. Tom Tom, do not set to the shortest distance, set to fastest.

Further Details:

Fowey is one of the few unspoilt coastal villages in Cornwall. Spend a morning browsing the antique and gift shops, looking at local art, then enjoy either a posh lunch at the Old Quay House, or great pub grub at the Galleon, both have good views of the river.

Fowey is the toast of yachtsmen and ramblers, but also of historians and archaeologists.

Iron Age Man lived here. The Romans found it already a port. In 1380 the Spanish, and in 1457 the French, tried to raise it to the ground. Drake, Raleigh and Frobisher all sailed from Fowey, whose harbour was surveyed by Cook before he became Captain. Here, Charles I was shot at and Queen Victoria welcomed; here, Kenneth Grahame and Daphne du Maurier found literary inspiration and the Treffry family planned their pioneering role in the Industrial Revolution.

A natural place, then, for a museum. It has a sympathetic setting in the oldest part of the Town - in a room which served as a council chamber when Fowey was a borough in its own right.

With the civic regalia on display is the mayoral chain made for the former Lord Mayor of London, Sir Charles Hanson, in his role as Lord High Sheriff of the City of London. It stands proud among artefacts and memorabilia of the many who have enriched Fowey with art, craft or government, industrial skill or naval reputation.

Complementing them is the hardware of Fowey's seafaring celebrity: the timber, sails and cordage from ships that chased the Spanish, beat the French and carried Cornish tin and China Clay all over the world.

Lostwithiel, once the capital of Cornwall, has many thriving antique shops and an excellent deli. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project are worth a visit, while Lanhydrock is a spectacular National Trust property nearby. The whole Fowey estuary is criss-crossed with paths and ancient ways so there are numerous walks to enjoy.

RYA dingy and sailing courses at Polkerris and Fowey. Canoeing, Kayaking and river expeditions in the Fowey estuary.

Facilities

From the Owner

At Treetops we have tried to bridge the gap between those houses that are sumptuously furnished but seem so daunting as a have fun family house with the kids and dogs and the bring your own linen and towels, make your own beds. Too many owners seem to think that the provision of the absolute basic minimum is acceptable. We have, we hope covered the bases to ensure that everyone from the family dog upwards to Mum and Dad have everything they need for a luxury break, but without imposing fixtures ,fittings, and carpeting that means you are permanently on your toes. We do have Egyptian cotton bedding and quality towelling, under floor heating with every room having its own heat control. We have invested in a Canine washroom rather than ban dogs. All in all we want our clients to have fun.
