"Home from Home in the Alps"; The Shieling Morzine is a fantastic, recently renovated and very spacious apartment in the centre of Morzine, which is just an hour and 15 minutes from Geneva Airport.
The Shieling Morzine is just a few minutes walk to the lifts, restaurants, bars, large supermarket and the centre of town. Benefiting from its own ground floor entrance, the apartment is well laid out with a huge living room, full equipped kitchen, two large double bedrooms (both en-suite) and a further family bathroom.The living room comes complete large flatscreen TV, Sky TV, DVD player and WIFI. There's lots of storage in the apartment plus one lockable storage room for bikes / boards, which is exclusive to the apartment. Very easy access to the mountain lifts and access to a private pool in the grounds during summer months. The apartment comfortably sleeps six - you and your group won't be packed in like sardines.

Why Stuart chose Portes du Soleil area
I'm a a massive fan of mountain sports and wanted somewhere that would serve as a home from home for me and for people like me. I searched for a long time to find an apartment that met my needs; somewhere in the heart of a vibrant mountain town, within a good driving distance of a major airport, snow assured in the winter and plenty to do in the summer and, finally, the right size and proportions for a group of six to be comfortable.

Tastefully furnished well positioned chalet apartment
We have just enjoyed an excellent week in this apartment. Its very spacious and the layout is such that it could easily accommodate three couples or a family. Its also very tastefully decorated with nice finishing touches giving a mountain "ambiance". We also enjoyed the Sky TV and high speed wifi. The apartment was clean with a plentiful supply of linen and a well equipped kitchen. Its within walking distance of both Super Morzine and the Pleney lifts, or you have the choice of free buses which run regularly. Its also easy to walk into the central area for the many atmospheric bars and restaurants. For shopping Petit Casino is only 2 minutes away, or Carrefour Market a couple of minutes in the car or a 10 minute walk. The skiing is great as you have the choice of skiing Morzine/les Gets on one side or Avoriaz/Portes du Soleil on the other. If you don't ski there are plenty of beautiful walks in the area. This property would probably also be a good choice for the summer, with the pool and many choices for walkers or cyclists. We hope to return again.
Spacious Clean Good Position In Town
All positive, great spot in town, lovely apartment. Clean, spacious and well equipped.
Everything worked as should.
Over the years we have done many trips to Morzine, winter/summer and this has to be one of the top places we have stayed in.

Bigger than the photos, very spacious and modern.
The photos show 2 X twin beds, but there is actually a double bed in the main front bedroom, and the sofa bed in the living room is a huge big double one so ample for 6 people. The landlord Stu is very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The apartment ground level and is close to the centre of town for evening outs and far enough away from the noises of partying. There is a supermarket 2 minutes walk away. Had only a couple of groans, the shower curtain in the main bedroom ensuite shower is one that sticks to your bum and doesn't hold the water well and there is light comes through the internal door glass to the front bedroom, so if you need total darkness to sleep like I do take a pair of night eye covers. All the beds are comfortable and The place is very warm, masses of hot water each time and a well equipped kitchen. Great views from the front windows to mountains of Avoriaz. We had masses of snow while we were there and it was picture perfect, the snow ploughs were up and down the road from 6.30am, so if you're driving you won't get stuck. We would also recommend Skiddy Gonzales for transfers from Geneva to the door. If you're hiring skis, hire from Intersport at the bottom of Avoriaz ski lift, you can store them overnight, we hired from Alpine Sports, although you can store them there overnight it's a bit of a trek from there to the ski lifts, and they shut up shop from noon to 3pm. Use the little train that goes from Avoriaz ski lift to Super Morzine ski lift, it saves your legs and it's free. The best hot wine is from The Tibetan and don't forget to visit The Dixie Bar, if the Dixie Micks are playing you're in for a fun night.
Stuart was extremely helpful from start to finish. We were five adults sharing the apartment and we all fitted very comfortably. The apartment is exactly as described, very comfortable and well located.
Everything you need is very close by and a short roll from the slopes if you take advantage of some apres ski!
Great apartment in a convenient location
We had a great week at the apartment. It's well situated and very comfortable, great for our family. Any minor issues we had were resolved immediately & Stu was great to communicate with.

Biking and relaxing
We are a family of four and have just returned from a fabulous fortnight's stay at The Shieling in the beautiful town of Morzine. The apartment was fab, comfy, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. TV and wifi were a bonus. It easily housed 4 of us and for the bikers, having a covered terrace on the ground floor was so easy for changing out of gear and pottering about with bikes. The storage room was great, no biking gear in the house! For the non biker the pool was ace and the few minutes walk to all amenities and lifts made it easy to access the town and mountains on foot. Great parking also. Communication with the owner, Stu, was excellent and I would highly recommend this apartment. Will definitely return..

Within 8-10 minutes drive of Lake Montriond, a stunning fresh water lake in the heart of the Portes du Soleil mountains.
45 minutes drive to the famous town of Evian Les Bains and the shores of Lac Leman.
By Road: just over 1 hour drive from Geneva Airport. There are loads of transfer companies that work during the Winter and summer seasons - prices at around €25 - €30 per person each way. Just head to Google for the best deals.
By Air: The resort is a drive of around 1hr 15m from Geneva airport - one of Europe’s most connected airports. Also within driving distance are Grenoble and Lyon airports.
The apartment is an easy drive from Geneva Airport which takes just over 1 hour.

£200 initial payment to secure the booking needs to be paid upon reservation. The balance of payment needs to be paid six weeks before the first day booked. A returnable security deposit of £250 also needs to be paid when paying the balance to cover any breakages or damages. We’ll always be fair in judging this and would be much happier returning the full amount.
Changeover day is Saturday. Guests are politely asked to leave the apartment in a clean condition before 10am. New guests are asked to arrive after 4pm.

- Notes on accommodation: The Shieling Morzine is a non smoking residence. Outside: The chalet has it's own grounds with a shared pool. The pool is approximately 10m by 5m and is heated during the summer months. The grounds are tended to by the management company both in winter and summer. Utility Room: Large, lockable and heated exclusive storage room with seating, boot storage and racking. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean towels and linen are provided within the rental cost. The apartment is cleaned before each occupancy and the building is cleaned weekly. Other: The apartment shares a heated pool and gardens in the summer months which is exclusive to the building.
