Cottage in Central Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, UK - Literally Minutes From Ashmolean Museum, Bus Station And Mainline Train Station

This Victorian terraced house is perfectly located for visiting the numerous attractions of Oxford and is extremely convenient for shops and restaurants as well. It is in the vibrant city centre, though you can walk up the canal to the Anchor Inn, and Port Meadow which is a beautiful open space. The house is wifi, and can sleep 10 but is comfortable with 6/7. The table seats this number best! There is no parking at the property and you have no need for a car as it is straightforward to get buses or the train in less than 3 minutes from the house, to anywhere from Edinburgh to Bournemouth and London Paddington. Book trains in advance from GWR. The Playhouse has interesting shows always, and is worth checking out in advance, and the newly refurbished and effectively rebuilt Ashmolean Museum is something not to miss. All in all, you will find no other house so centrally located and where you can be entirely independent and self catering.

About the Owner

Hi, I have owned this house for some years, since my children were at University here in Oxford and I still live here with my younger children. I enjoy offering the short lets as it means people can stay in the city centre for a fraction of the price of several hotel rooms and I am always keen to help guests find interesting things to do.

In general, people love the central location and being able to walk everywhere. Teens love it as they can walk to movies, or clubs. So unusual to be so central and not need a car!

I had children at University in the city and it seemed like a good idea as rentals are always in demand.

Nearest Airport : London Heathrow at 80 Kilometres Nearest Train : Oxford Station at 0.5 Kilometres Car: not necessary

Further Details:

Easy walking distance of all facilities in Oxford city centre, supermarkets, restaurants, Covered market etc plus farmers market fortnightly on Gloucester Green (see a map to locate, v near) and general market every Wednesday on Gloucester Green. It is really nice to be this central, and people who have stayed love it, from hen nights, to academics and families coming to visit their children at uni, or even to marry them off! Longer lets possible if the house is available at a lower rate if the rent is more than 8 weeks.

Booking Notes:
I ask for a deposit of 40% to secure booking with the balance due 6 weeks before the let starts. All Paypal or bank transfer charges to be paid by Guest or will be deducted from Security/damage deposit. The Security Deposit is £100. If i receive more than 6 weeks notice of a cancellation your first payment less security deposit will refunded in full. Price is for occupancy by 7 people. Each guest in excess of this attracts £15 per night charge. Arrival time 4.00pm, departure by 10.30am.

Changeover Day:
None, as any day is fine. Arrival after 4.00pm please, and departure by 10.30.
This can be flexible if I don't have guests arriving/leaving on the same day, so do ask.

Notes on prices:
WEEKEND RATE NOTES: 2 night weekends possible if there is availability. Weekend rate is £350 per night September - March, and £380 per night April - mid Sept. Normal daily rate varies from £280-350. Surcharges for more than 7 guests still apply. Single nights possible if between other firm lets.
I cannot prebook 2/nt weekends in my peak (June to September) period and tho I prefer whole weeks at this time, I am negotiable; any start day. Any 2 day stay is at owners discretion.

payment by BACS or paypal to owner. 40% to secure, balance 6 weeks prior or any alternative arrangment agreed with owner.

  • Notes on accommodation: The little single room has a trundle bed. THis could be removed andn a cotbed put in there. The blind is blackout. Outside: West facing garden with table/bench etc. Utility Room: In the kitchen, washer and dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linens included. cleaning available on request and at a charge. Other: The garden has a table and 2 benches as well as a washing line and pegs!
