Barn Conversion near Historic Hawkshead, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Luxuriously Appointed in the Heart of the Lakes. Wonderful Walks and Traditional Pubs

Oak Apple Barn is a picturesque and cosy 2 bedroom holiday retreat. It is part of a former traditional Lakeland farm, and is situated along a very quiet country lane between the pretty village of Hawkshead and Tarn Hows. It is within easy walking distance of the village, only about half a mile away. The 17 century barn has been renovated to a very high standard, retaining traditional features particularly the mellow pine and oak beams. The comfortable lounge has an old stone fireplace with wood burning stove, comfortable furniture to relax in after a long walk, TV, DVD, CD, wifi internet (free). The lounge area and bedrooms have beautiful southerly views over open countryside towards Hawkshead village and Claife Heights. The adjacent fields are filled with ever so friendly sheep; and deer and rabbits are often spotted in the gardens. There is ample parking in the courtyard.

Hawkshead idyll

Oak Apple Barn is a superb property, spotless, comfortable, warm, very spacious. The kitchen was so well equipped I felt I should have made a greater effort to cook! We like authenticity and felt we were part of

the Cumbrian countryside living here.

Loved the short extremely scenic walk into Hawkshead, it was also ideally situated as a starting point for many walks. Christine Thornton, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property to friends or relatives.

Oakapple Barn

The weather was wonderful and we were the only people staying in the farmyard, which made things even more peaceful. This is a place for those who like peace and quiet and don't mind being woken by a curlew in the hay field nextdoor. Set in the rolling hills away from the traffic it is pleasantly remote yet accessible to shops and pubs (if you don't mind walking) if necessary. The converted barn was clean, functional and just as described on the website. We would stay there again as it provided an excellent base for other activities or relaxing in the cottage or garden.

Superb stay in the Lakes

Just returned from a week in the delightful Oak Apple Barn. The property is warm, spacious, well-furnished and clean with no signs of previous doggy presence! This17th century converted barn is spectacularly located just a short walk from Hawkshead centre. It is a joy to wake in comfortable beds to the sounds of birdsong and the sun rising over the stunning scenery. The Barn is such a pleasant place to spend time in simp!y socialising or just sitting in the window watching the fledglings making their first flight. A file containing lots of useful information and suggestions has been thoughtfully compiled and was used by us throughout our stay.At the end of the week we were sorry to leave this comfortable property and intend to return. I have no hesitation in unreservedly recommending Oak Apple Barn for families of all ages, friends, couples and dogs. The owners were very good to deal with and couldn't have been nicer!

Simply Stunning!

We arrived late after a long drive from Kent to this beautiful, tranquil 17th century converted barn with its old oak beams and comforting wood burning stove... instantly we all relaxed including our border collies! It's location couldn't have been better, set in the very heart of the Lake District with amazing views over the surrounding countryside and just a short walk from the village of Hawkshead. The barn was beautifully presented and equipped to a very high standard with all sorts of little welcoming extras. We could not recommend this more strongly for anyone wanting a relaxing break in the stunning lake district.

Wonderful stay in Oak Apple Barn

Oak Apple Barn was a really great place to spend quality time in The Lake District. We are a family of four (two teenagers) and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage had everything we needed and the log fire was a plus. We did a few walks from the cottage, so a nice break from the car. It was cosy and warm, and very clean. Thanks for a great stay.

We had a fantastic stay at Oak Apple Barn (myself, wife and our small dog) and would definitely recommend this property for anyone looking to explore the Lake District. It is ideally located for walks around the area and easy access to Hawkshead, Ambleside, Coniston and Windermere. The property is clean, comfortable and feels like a home away from home.   • Notes on accommodation: The accommodation at Oak Apple barn is perfect for a family of 4, or friends sharing a holiday. It is in an extremely beautiful part of the Lake District in total peace and quiet, yet very close to the village. We gladly accept pets are are a non-smoking establishment. Outside: The gardens at the farm are available for guests to use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The cottage is professionally cleaned once a week, which is included in the price. We provide high quality linen, duvets and blankets. We do not provide personal towels. Other: The dining area is part of the open plan living area, with traditional pine furniture and place settings for 6.
