Updated: 09-Oct-2016
Farmhouse St Puy, Condom, Gers, Midi Pyrenees, SW France - Tranquil Location, Less Than 1km To The Village With All Amenities

La Salle offers flexible accommodation, equally suitable for small family gatherings, friends or for larger groups. Accessed by a private tree lined drive and with ample parking La Salle has been lovingly restored to its former splendour. The house retains all its charm with many features such as characterful oak beams, thick stone walls, original fireplaces, walnut staircase and magnificent oak front door. Furnishings are carefully chosen in the French country style and are of excellent quality. All bedrooms in the en suite accommodation are individually and stylishly decorated with a touch of 'chateau chic'. There is a well equipped kitchen and lots of recipe books with inspiring titles such as 'Goose fat and garlic' and 'Memories of Gascony' and the many daily markets offer a variety of fresh local produce. The kitchen leads to the comfortable family room and onto the large south facing terrace, where the large dining table and comfortable seating area is perfect for those long lunches or evenings with family or friends where you can chat and relax with the lingering scent of lavender and lemon blossom, and watch the wonderful sunsets. St Puy is centrally situated to visit the surrounding area in which 'there is something for everyone'. About the Owner

My husband, son and myself live here on the outskirts of the village of St Puy. My son goes to school locally, so this is a real family home.

The area is a great place to bring up a family The outdoor lifestyle is perfect for children with lots of space and freedom to run around, waterparks, pools and many other activities abound and children are welcome at events and restaurants.

We both have a real interest in food having previously managed catered chalets in the French Alps so the Gers, and Gascony suits us perfectly with its magnificent landscapes and hearty rustic cuisine.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We've had a fabulous holiday. We've thoroughly enjoyed the house and peaceful evenings by the pool drinking our aperitifs. We would strongly recommend 'Chez Vous' the restaurant in the village and Chateau Monluc kept our glasses filled. A la prochaine! - The Shannons

The house and countryside are beautiful. Enjoyed canoeing at Beaucaire and the girls had a great time at Walibi Park. plenty of local markets to visit. The garden was great for our dog, Charlie who also enjoyed his holiday chasing lizards and toads. - Richeaux family

What a great place for 6 friends and 1 mutt to spend 2 weeks, relaxing by pool, ping ponging, water fighting, Monluc fizzy wine drinking,Terre blanche foie gras eating, Connect 4ing, card playing, petanquing, barbequing, under walnut tree swinging, Chez Vous enjoying, stargazing, sunflower admiring, lake swimming, pool monster ducking, holiday romancing, Pousse rapiering, seriously thinking about returning.

The owners have good taste

  • 5 of 5

A very comfortable family property, a real feeling of luxury, the owners have good taste. Sitting in the outdoor dining area with a glass of local wine with that wonderful summer breeze, delightful. Can highly recommend the kayaks along the river, sorry can’t remember the providers, a short car drive away, very memorable. Great social living/dining/kitchen space and paradise outdoor space for the kids.

Fantastic French Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Seven of us (4 adults & 3 kids) spent two fabulous weeks at La Salle. We received a warm welcome from Jill and Terry on arrival who showed us around their beautiful farmhouse in the small village of St Puy, surrounded by the tranquil French countryside.

The farmhouse is bright and spacious and beautifully decorated in traditional style, with all the modern amenities you would need.

It provided the perfect location as a base for touring local towns and villages and at the same time provided the perfect home for relaxing with our family.

When not touring the local areas, we spent daytime hours by the pool which both kids and adult loved and evenings spent relaxing over numerous glasses of wine on the terrace - recommend a trip to Nick Patrick's Vinyard, Domaine de Sedouprat.

When we felt like exerting ourselves, many hours spent on competitive table tennis matches, but that is about as energetic as we got.

Would recommend La Salle for families and friends to get away, relax and enjoy a bit of rural France, but at the same time not being too far away from local amenities.

Really enjoyed the local restaurant Chez Vous (but recommend you book). Areas we suggest you take time to enjoy are Larressingle Medieval Village, the daytime market in Eauze, and if the time of year is right, the night market with live entertainment at Vic Fezensac. Also worth a visit is the quaint town of Lectoure and canoeing at Beaucaire.

Beautiful spacious country home with all amenities

  • 5 of 5

The house is a perfect location for exploring the rolling countryside of the Gers area en famille, with its vineyards and sunflowers..with local markets and boulangerie, ancient villages, Roman ruins. The children (8-12yrs old)were delighted to find a trampoline, ping pong ,wii system, many DVDs and of course a pool.

Gourmet-style kitchen, meals outside on the shady terrace, room for everyone.....we loved it all! Thank you to Jill and Terry for their suggestions.

A perfect holiday for artists, non-artists & dogs

  • 5 of 5

The descriptions of the area were accurate - the area is stunningly beautiful, good for walking, photography and wildlife (we saw deer, hares, foxes, salamanders and lots of birds), as well as for drawing and painting. This is a perfect holiday if you are a painter with a non-painting partner and a dog.

La Salle is a wonderful old house, beautifully renovated and looked after, with spacious rooms. We had a big, clean, comfortable bedroom and lovely ensuite bathroom, and made ourselves at home in the well-appointed kitchen and living room. The art studio was light and airy and very nice and cool to work in in the heat of the day, and had work surfaces, easels, some art materials, and a range of art books. We sat out in the large shady verandah, and ate all our meals out there, overlooking the beautiful garden, which is also very well looked after, and the swimming pool.

Our hosts, Jill and Terry, were extremely friendly, hard-working and professional. They really made us feel at home, looked after us and entertained us well, nothing was too much trouble. They took us round to villages, art exhibitions, the local Chateau for wine-tasting, and to the market at Lecture, a medieval fortified hill-town,all extremely enjoyable. We ate out at Chez Vouz in St Puy one evening, very good food and wine and great atmosphere sitting outside in the old market area and listening to some laid-back live jazz.

Jill's cooking was absolutely delicious, fresh and varied, and she managed to cater for individual requirements as well as producing great meals twice a day, including wines and gorgeous desserts. Mealtimes at the long table on the verandah with Jill, Terry and Thierry and the other guests had a relaxed family feeling, and were a real highlight of the holiday.

Overall, this was an excellent holiday, and we would recommend it as a painting holiday and also as a comfortable, relaxed centre to hang out in or explore the area from.

Ideal for our purposes

  • 4 of 5

We spent two weeks at La Salle in June, with a shifting community of guests from three generations, peaking at nine adults. All greatly enjoyed their stay, whether it was mostly spent in the pool, visiting local bastides, or cooking, eating and drinking in the extensive outside patio. The accommodation, and its owners, are flexible and the latter (Terry and Jill), who live locally, are very friendly and responsive to any problem. We would recommend it without hesitation.

Amazing home for a Vacation in Gascony

  • 5 of 5

Our week stay at La Salle, St Puy was flawless. The house and gardens are perfectly relaxing and the house is spotless and exactly as shown in the pictures. The home is very well equipped (read don't bring your hair dryer) and perfect for families with or without children. The home is three stories with two bedrooms, bath on the third level with a play area additional. On the second floor are the main two bedrooms with attached bathrooms. Both have windows on every wall for morning light and sunsets. Downstairs offers not one but two complete, large family rooms, laundry room and huge kitchen. The two owners Terry and Jill are very friendly and helpful. They both went out of their way to make sure all our questions were answered. They have compiled a wonderful book of information about the area and were great with recommendations for things to see and restaurants to visit. The yard is huge and now has a trampoline and table tennis for use. The pool was perfect for afternoon swims. Our small dog loved the yard and surrounding area which is perfect for afternoon walks. Everything is as advertised and shown in the photos. The owners were there to greet us upon arrival and also to wish us off upon departure. A wonderful touch. The owners recently added more outdoor furniture which makes for a wonderful third outdoor living room. Super fun house to use as a base for Gascony. Walking distance to St Puy: Croissants and Chez Vous (A must visit restaurant to enjoy. Order the Foie Gras)

I can highly recommend this property.

From the Owner

Apart from the lifestyle, we chose the Gers and St Puy for its breathtakingly beautiful scenery which changes continuously with the seasons. Known as the Tuscany of France, with its picture postcard villages, brilliant sunshine and winding roads, it's easy to see why. There is a wow around every corner. This is Gascony birthplace of D'Artagnon. Its ancient walled towns and villages are steeped in history, mystery and romance. Also known for its gastronomy and hospitality. There are markets both day and night where you will find regional favourites such as confit de canard, foie gras, Toulouse sausage, cheeses and pates and lots of fresh fruit, veg and garlic! There are many restaurant to suit all budgets and occasions and locals are friendly in this still unspoiled region.

You don't have to worry about driving as its just a short walk home. Throughout the year, there are 'vide greniers', stalls selling antiques and bric a brac in St Puy and many nearby villages. Local fetes and cultural activities a plenty. There is also a boulangerie, shop pharmacy, doctor and everything you need to sample French country life at its best.
