David and Monique extend a warm welcome to our Quinta. There are 2 apartments in the main Quinta, two semi-detached cottages and a studio, all arranged around a central BBQ and alfresco dining area. Set amongst orange groves in beautiful countryside, with distant views of the hills and mountains of the Algarve. Quinta Palmeira, or ‘House of the Palms‘ is a delightful location for your next large family or group holiday. You can all simply relax by the pool and top up your tans, with the odd trip to the bar for a cold drink, or perhaps you would prefer a day on one of the stunningly beautiful beaches in the area, ranging from miles of golden sand with full amenities, to tiny secluded coves with local bars offering delicious freshly caught fish. Nature lovers will delight in the exotic plants and wildlife that flourish in the area, whilst golfers have a choice of 23 world-class courses all within easy reach. In short the Portuguese Algarve has something for everyone.

Why David chose Alcantarilha

I used to holiday with family on the Algarve for many years and fell in love with it's unique charm. With over 300 days of sunshine and friendly locals it is a fabulous location for any holiday. Quinta Palmeiras, peaceful and private yet ideally situated for the beaches, supermarkets, dining out, and all the things our guests like to do. We love it, and our guests love it too - well they keep coming back!!

What makes this villa unique

Our little bit of paradise is centrally located only 10 minutes drive to the historic town and castle of Silves. Here there are first class restaurants, pavement cafes and bars, and excellent shopping facilities with a wonderful market selling organic fresh fruit, vegetables, meat & fish, which all goes to make the town a joy to explore. The beach of Armacao de Pera is only 15 minutes away, offering a good choice of bars and fish restaurants set on miles of golden sand, water sports, and sun beds. Close-by there are many stunning secluded 'secret' coves, ideal for chilling out with a good book, or just simply soaking up the sun for that perfect tan. The young at heart are less than 10 min drive from a fabulous water park, the fearless can tackle scary rides, gentler ones for the toddlers.

Notes on accommodation: Rustic, clean and well maintained. Outside: The property with its lovely gardens, orange groves and seasonal fruits extends to 2 acres and is securely fenced all round, with ample parking on site. Entry is by electric gates. At night there is good lighting. The accommodation is situated around a central large gas BBQ and cooking area with sinks, and a outside covered group dining area. For private moments each unit has its own terrace (with table, chairs and sun umbrella) ideal if you want to read, have a snack, or just grab a quiet moment. The 10m x 5m private pool is exclusively for your family or groups use - no other guests will be staying. The bar is adjacent, with 2 fridges for you to keep your cold drinks in. wired for sound - so bring your iPods. It is a popular area during the day where mums and dads can keep an eye on the kids in the pool, or a great place to meet up in the evening and generally 'put the world to rights' Utility Room: Washing machine facilities are available, There is an iron and board, hairdryers, and cool boxes with ice packs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, bedding and tea towels are provided, but we ask guests to bring their own beach and pool towels. We normally change the above weekly, but if you have a special request please ask. Other: Some bedrooms can accommodate an extra small child on a camp bed/put-u-up. Also there are two sofa beds in the lounge of the upstairs apartment - being in the lounge privacy is restricted.

Lovely getaway

David and Mo were so helpful and friendly from the day I first contacted them to the day we left the villa.

The villas were all lovely and despite there not being a large kitchen to use as the main cooking kitchen we managed to feed all 22 of us. The BBQ area was fab.

The pool area was lovely and made even better by the amazing bar area, many evenings spent there having fun.

The black lab Holly was a hit with all of us, she is lovely and so friendly, we wanted to bring her home with us!

Thank you for a great 2 weeks.

Perfect for any large group!

We have just returned as a group of 17 (8 adults, 9 children) from this fantastic villa after a great week! The accommodation is perfect as you have your own space with independent bathrooms and kitchens but can come together to use the shared facilities such as outdoor dining, bbq, games room and of course the pool.

Each of the individual apartments suited well with a range of 1 bedroom to 3 bedroom for larger families with the usual kitchen facilities provided. Towels and linen were also provided which saved on luggage.

The games room is great as our children (and adults) made the most if the pool table, board games and wifi. But without doubt what makes this villa great is the outside area - the pool is a good size with a good shallow area for smaller children, sufficient beds and umbrellas and its own bar area which we stocked with our own drinks and had a ball! We were able to connect our iPads/phones to the hifi and play our music and chilled by day and had some great nights too! The bbq was also fab with a huge table nearby which seats 22 people for outdoor dining every night.

David was really helpful throughout our stay - around if we needed him but not intrusive at all and it was great to tap into his local knowledge which helped with booming restaurants etc. I have no doubt that we'll be back to this villa as it will take some beating - thanks David for a fab stay and looking after us so well!

Special interest holidays:

We organise site seeing tours / visits throughout the Algarve, led by an experienced English speaking guide / driver. Normally in a 7 seat mini-bus, but smaller and larger groups can easily be catered for.


The nearest beach at Armacao de Pera is 15 minutes drive. It is a very large beach, at one end working fishing boats are pulled up on the sand by tractor, and further along there are beach bars, restaurants, and all the facilities you would expect of a popular beach resort. Minutes either side and dotted along the coast are dozens of smaller beaches and coves with golden sand and small tavernas offering the catch of the day, washed down by a cold beer or a glass or two of Vinho Verde.


Faro Airport is a 40 minute drive. We use a self drive car hire company based at the airport who we have been dealing with for the past 7 years. They speak English, are reliable and very helpful. We can quote you for cars, estates, 7 seater people carriers, or 9 seater mini-buses. Their prices are better than those generally available on the Internet. We can book your car and have it waiting for you to pick up at the airport. Ask us for our self-drive hire prices.

Airport transport can also be arranged.


Being centrally located one of the comments we hear time and again from our guests is 'you are about 10 minutes drive from nearly everywhere'! That includes Silves Town and Castle, Algoz with its selection of restaurants, Aqualand Water Park, Zoomarine, Algarve Shopping Centre at Guia. For a great day out drive to lands end at Sagres, the most westerly point of Europe, or drive to the small town of Monchique in the mountains. You could go to Almancil for Go-Karts, or Dolphin spotting on a boat

Further Details:

There are a number of large supermarkets within 10 minutes drive, (Contenente, Aldi, Macro, Iceland, Modelo and Lidl) selling almost everything you would find in the UK and of course local Portuguese produce. There are also many roadside stalls. markets and street vendors too. Gypsy markets occur in most towns weekly, selling a wide range of food, local produce, fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes, household goods, gifts, jewellery and leather goods.

Local bars are plentiful, interesting, often offering entertainment, music and the true spirit of Portugal, they are good value, especially worth trying a local sandwich (bifanas)!

There are banks, ATMs, post offices, pharmacies and petrol stations, the nearest being at Algoz or Alcantarilha, 5 minutes away from Quinta Palmeiras. These small towns are also the nearest for simple day to day supplies if required.

Changeover Day:
Totally flexible. Arrive any day, stay for as long as you like, and leave any time. That way you can take advantage of cheaper flights.

Notes on prices:
Prices are based on up to 18 people, extra people €50 per.wk each. We require a £250 holding deposit to cover breakages, damage and deep cleaning if the property is left in an unreasonable state. We rely on our guests honesty to replace any broken or damaged items, in which case your deposit will be returned in full within 7 days of vacating. NOTE: Transport is essential, we have a good contact at Faro Airport who can supply Self Drive Hire Cars at rates not generally available on the internet.
