Fantastic apartment in a great location

We have just returned from a 9 night stay in this fantastic apartment. Before we even booked the apartment the owner Michele was incredibly helpful and answered all of my many questions!

We hired a car at the airport and found Burgau a good base for exploring further afield - we visited Lagos zoo and the Splash and Slide water park.

Burgau is a lovely, unspoilt visit with a very family friendly feel. The apartment is in a great location for the local shops, restaurants and for the beach. The terrace is really peaceful and has amazing views out to sea. We found the apartment had everything you need with regard to utensils, etc for food preparation and also had plenty of bits and bobs for the beach (sun parasol, beach mats, buckets and spades etc) as well as a bank of DVDs, books and board games.

If you get the chance to visit this property take it!!!!

Fantastic apartment

Property was in a great location close to shops, restaurants, bars and the beach. Very spacious & well equipped. The roof terrace was lovely & the view amazing. The best apartment we have stayed in. Can't wait to return.

Perfect holiday home

We had the most wonderful holiday in No 9 apartment was spotless just like home from home so convenient to beach, supermarket and restaurants. Burgau is a lovely little fishing village very unspoilt great restaurants, great walks and a beautiful beach.

Michele couldn't have been more helpful and informative and we would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment. We hope to return.

Superb holiday

Paradise in Portugal

This property is an absolute gem - more like a house than an apartment and centrally located for all amenities and the beach in Burgau. It is very spacious, clean and well maintained. The balcony overlooking the sea is an added bonus for leisurely breakfasts, etc, too. Burger was a revelation and we had fantastic food & wine whilst on our short break. The pizzas and house wine at Corso were excellent and economical; the sardines with spinach at Matias are highly recommended; the Stone Bass at the Burgau Beach Bar and the Golden Bream at Barraca were also delicious, as was the Monkfish cataplana at Esquine. The coastal walk to Luz and refreshment at Fabrica, and the coastal walk to Almadena and lunch at Cabana are also highly recommended. we loved where we stayed and Burgau, itself and hope to return.

Fabulous apartment in great location

A fabulous,well appointed,modern apartment for our 11 night stay in Burgau (it wasn't long enough). As well as the great location in Burgau all eventualities were catered for, including use of beach toys, chairs, surf boards kindly left by previous guests. The Roof terrace is a lovely place to have breakfast and drinks and watch the world go by. The town has fabulous restaurants and a great tennis club and is easy driving distance to the west coast surf beaches and lovely town of Lagos or you can leave the car and potter down to the fab Burgau beach. Definitely one to go back to.

Activity and Interests


The beautiful sandy beach at Burgau is only 2 minutes walk. Lovely coastal walks direct from the village. A short drive to stunning west coast beaches and plenty of great surfing spots. Nearby the resort of Luz offers water sports. High quality golf resorts a short drive.


Faro airport is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive away on the A22 motorway. A hire car is recommended although details can be provided for airport transfers.


5 minutes by car to Praia de Luz and 15 minutes drive to Lagos. Buses available direct from Burgau to both towns. 10 minutes drive to Salema village. Sagres and Cape St Vincent approximately 30 minutes drive. Monchique mountains and spa approximately 40 minutes drive away.

Further Details:

Burgau is a pretty seaside village with lovely beach. There are a number of restaurants in the village serving a good range of quality food from traditional Portuguese to pizza and pasta. There are also a few bars in the village. Local amenities include two mini markets, a wine shop (with a great range of port), a cash point machine and a fresh fish market in the centre (by the bus stop) open early in the morning. There is also a local sports centre on the edge of the village offering a range of leisure facilities (tennis, squash, yoga and aerobics) as well as sport activity mornings for the kids. Larger supermarkets, banks and post offices are available in Luz and Lagos. Medical facilities and a pharmacy are available in Luz. The nearest hospital is located in Lagos.

Booking Notes:
50% initial deposit to confirm booking with balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. A security deposit of £150 (180 euros) is required for all bookings at time of balance. This will be refunded within 14 days of your return in full or with appropriate deduction for any damage/breakages/lost keys during the stay. Payments can be made by bank transfer, cheque or Paypal in sterling although provision is made for Euro payment if necessary. Credit card payment is not available.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is flexible where possible. Check in from 2:00pm. On departure date property to be vacated by 10:00am. Late checks outs may be arranged subject to availability.

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds for up to 4 persons sharing. Shorter stays may be available at certain times with price available on request.
