Apartment in Gale, Albufeira, Central Algarve, Portugal - Good Location, Only a Short Walk from the Nearby Supermarket and Stunning Blue Flag Beaches

This is an extremely spacious modern apartment set in a condominium consisting of 32 apartments, it is totally enclosed by walls and gates for your added peace of mind. There is a very large, swimming pool accessed by Roman steps, unusually the "deep end" is in the middle with the two children's pools at either end. This is surrounded by sunbathing areas and mature lawned gardens. Also on site is a tennis court for the sole use of the condominium. The apartment is perfectly located, only 2 minutes walk from a cafe serving snacks and home made cakes, with a good choice of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The beautiful beaches of Sao Lourenco and Gale are only a very short walk, with the Apolonia supermarket even closer. If you would like to go into the old town we are directly on the bus route into Albufeira.

Hi I have owned this property for over 10 years and I love it here. The sun is pretty much guaranteed and the beaches are on the doorstep. My kids love it. They can swim in the sea or the pool and play tennis. Because the complex is enclosed it is secure for them and they can play in the gardens/ on the tennis court and I don't need to worry about them.

It is quiet and the chance to enjoy a bbq while watching them in the pool is a great way to holiday!

I am sure you'll enjoy it too! :)

Great chilled out holiday apartment

i ve been to Gale 5 times , first time staying at O monte apartments.

great location, handy for beaches, Apolonia supermarket, Ali's supermarket and a great wee deli just ouside the complex.

handy bus stop a few yards away.

it's a quiet area but the beaches are stunning, as are the beach restaurants.

i loved this apartment,open your doors, straight on to your terrace, grass and a path over to the pool!!, what more could you ask for.

apartment well equipped, our toaster didn't work but that didn t matter.

lots of books, cd's , beach toys etc.

the outside , as you drive up to the apartment does not do it justice, SO, do not be put off.

all was clean, towels in abundance, hair dryer etc etc.

one bedroom with a double and single, 2nd bedroom with 2 singles and lots of room for a travel cot.

two good size bathrooms and good storage.

honestly i would recommend.

the only -ve!!........ No wi fi and noooooo BBC etc. ( but i do know about the ongoing dispute)

Book and enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

car not essential, BUT after been there several times I would recommend.

This is a lovely apartment-very well equipped and nicely furnished. The gardens are well maintained and the large swimming pool is kept spotlessly clean. Next door to the complex is a small supermarket and a café and cake shop. A larger supermarket is about 5minutes walk away. Also within walking distance there are many bars and restaurants. The beaches nearby are beautiful. Would definitely recommend this apartment.

We had a holiday in Gale last year and loved it, We wanted to go back this year.

I came across this apartment and liked it immediately, although was a bit concerned it may be a bit far away from , beach, restaurants, shops etc, as we did not hire a car this time.

The owner could not have been more helpful, he supported us from start to finish, he ensured everything was just right for us, (nothing was a problem).

We had a superb holiday and could just have stayed on !!

The apartment was very spacious, clean and well maintained, well equipped with everything you would need,

The pool area was very clean, I especially enjoyed the quiet and well respected surroundings of the apartment,

I think it is ideally located ,

The beach was just a 8 min walk away, there were plenty of restaurants to choose from at just a short walk away, and a local supermarket just steps away.

We had a very relaxing time and would definitely consider booking this place again next year,

It is a fantastic, lovely property there.

Also loved the wee cafe-- Real handy !!! A few steps away with friendly staff and very reasonable, We had our breakfast there every morning at a very reasonable cost.

I would love to recommend this property, but I would prefer to keep it as `Oor little fantastic find`.

Only recommendation from my 10yr old son is WiFi in the property.

Excellent base

I stayed with three friends for a long weekend. I'd never been to this part of Portugal and was a bit unsure what to expect. On arrival the entrance doesn't do the apartment justice, but don't let that put you off! Once you step inside, it is an apartment that is really well fitted out and is light, spacious and everything you hope for when booking a holiday. The pool is about 30m away and the shops are almost next door. But that is only part of it. The beach is fairly near (an easy 5 min walk) - I was advised to walk along the footpath just before the beach - along the headland (to the right) to find alcoves and beach bars, and believe me these did not disappoint. It's hard to describe everything in detail, so let me just share just one occasion - we walked down mid-morning to the beach. Had a play/swim in the sea, walked up to the beach car early afternoon, where they had mellow music, cool white leather sofas on a balcony overlooking the beach where we ordered scallops, grilled sardines, whitebait and lobster and some chilled white wine and sat, chatted and people watched for a few hours before rejoining the beach. Marvellous! Sounds almost too good I know - but absolutely par for the course here.

Back at the apartment, there is a little café/bar around the corner that does great pastries for breakfast and the staff are excellent - they really want to help you with anything and everything. We didn't book a car - we used a taxi from the airport (make sure you have your directions with you as finding the right apartment isn't obvious without these)! Not least because the letter 'x' is missing! Fairly crucial when staying in Appt x! That aside, you won't be disappointed if you stay here - it is hot, chilled and idyllic!

Activity and Interests


We are in a fantastic location for beach lovers, an 8 minute walk will take you to the safe sandy beach of Gale which goes on for miles, with many different watersports available during the summer months. There are several other beaches around Gale, including Sao Lourenco & Salgados, both within a short walk of the apartment. Get to see some of the stunning rugged rock formations, & private coves from coastal paths or just enjoy the views and a glass of wine from one of the beach restaurants.


The local airport is Faro. Approx 42kms away and served by most UK and continental airports. From Faro you can travel by taxi, hire car or mini bus. The roads are good and easy to use, particularly the new motorway which runs just a few miles from the apartment.

Car hire is not necessary, although we do recommend it wherever possible, as there are so many beautiful places to see.


Albufeira old town is approx 7kms, where there is an excellent choice of restaurants/bars and street entertainment.

For families with younger children who need entertaining, Zoomarine is approx 7/8kms. Various waterparks are only a short drive away, with enough pools and waterslides to keep them amused for hours!

There is a huge choice of boat and fishing trips from the local 400 berth marina - approx 5kms - see the dolphins, parasail or just book a leisurely cruise, the choice is yours.

Further Details:

The nearest supermarket is Apolonia which is roughly a 5 minute walk from the apartment and has excellent produce and also an ATM. For more varied shopping visit the Algarve shopping centre, 10 minutes by car, (a mini shopping mall, housing around a 100 shops, the Continente - a massive supermarket - restaurants, fast food outlets, multi cinemas and bowling).

There is a good choice of restaurants/bars within walking distance.

The terrace leads onto lawned gardens with views of the tennis court and fabulous swimming pool, where there is plenty of room for sunbathing. If you prefer not to go quite so public, there are sunbeds on the terrace along with a large wooden dining table and gas BBQ for you to enjoy some home cooking. For extra peace of mind the complex is enclosed by high walls and gates, so your little ones can play while you relax.
