About Peter Pal
We are both in our 60s and have spent most of the last 20 summers in Castellabate - we just love the place! Our children are both in their 20s, so they've pretty much flown the nest, but they spend some of their summer with us. We own this house since 2007 and finished the downstairs apartment in 2009. We live upstairs, which is totally separate from the guest accommodation downstairs. We'll be there to help with advice, provide beach towels and recommendations for eating out or sightseeing. We make our own limoncello - hope you join us for a digestivo!

Why Peter Pal chose Salerno province
Having rented holiday accommodation in Castellabate for a number of years, we decided to make it our second home. We started with a lovely little villa, but sold this and bought the more secluded and spacious house we now call our Italian home. Opening the shutters in the morning feels like being born again: the tranquility, the sunshine, the air, the vegetation, the sea breeze...
What makes this apartment unique
We are in a quiet location, even in August - the main holiday month: it's busy, hot and sometimes noisy during the day (holidaymakers and their children), but once the sun's gone (earlier for us, since we're sheltered by a hill in the West) it's great! Having dinner outdoors, once it's really cooler (around 9 p.m. in July/August), is the treat of the day! Even occasionally barking dogs can't compete with the crickets! Paradise!
Our good friends down the road from us have Wi-Fi and our guests are always welcome to take advantage of it.

Thanks to Peter and Heather for being accommodating hosts. We were made to feel at home very quickly and provided with directions to useful and interesting places in the local area. Thanks for the produce from your garden and the conversation. We hope to be in Italy again sooner rather than later. We'd recommend this property for anyone wishing to explore the south and have somewhere calm as a base.
Great apartment in lovely location
We had a lovely holiday in this clean, comfortable and well equipped apartment. There are great beaches nearby and it is a good location for both coastal and rural exploration. Peter and Heather were very welcoming and gave us lots of useful tips for making the most of our short time in the area.
Very nice quiet apartment in a good location
We had an excellent week in this property at the end of July (2 adults and 2 children, aged 13 and 7). The owners, Peter and Heather, are very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area. They kindly gave us tomatoes, herbs and chillies from their garden. Access to the local beaches is pretty easy. There are good shops and cafes nearby, and the pizza restaurant 'Madonna della Scala' in Castellabate (recommended by Peter and Heather) was a particular hit with our children - we went there twice. The apartment is very clean and comfortable, with mosquito nets on the windows. We visited Pompeii (do-able at about 1.75 hrs away) and also Paestum. We enjoyed the atmosphere in this 'authentic' part of Italy, which is away from the more touristy parts of the Amalfi coast etc.
The property is set in a peaceful location but
The property is set in a peaceful location with easy access to the harbour, beaches and the hilltop town os Castellolabate.
The apartment itself is very clean spacious and comfortable.
with good privacy and a pleasant aspect.
We found the host to be charming, knowledgeable and helpful
when asked for suggested places to visit things to do etc....
We had a very relaxing time during our stay and left the vacation feeling relaxed and refreshed in-fact we liked it so much we have book again for next June.
Ask Peter or Heather for a taste of their homemade Lemonchello mmm.
We are not long back from a wonderful two weeks at this property in October. Perfect for the four of us - two adults and two pre-teenage boys. Thank-you to Peter and Heather for making us so welcome and always available to answer queries or assist if required, without getting in the way. The home-made limoncello and jams you gave us were wonderful.
We were blessed with very warm weather and the mosquitoes were active so the fitted mosquito nets over all the windows were very welcome. Property exactly as described with plenty of room in the lounge/kitchen, a good-sized bathroom and two bedrooms with cavernous storage space. Peter & Heather also did our washing in their machine, which was great.
We drove there from Naples airport which took us about 2.5 hours on the then unfamiliar roads, toll only €2. Return to the airport only took 2 hours. We spent most time swimming and snorkeling. Water very clear and numerous different beaches to choose from within a very short drive. Only a very few lidos operating at the time of year we were there. Castellabate, Agropoli and other places are great to explore on foot. Late on in the holiday we discovered the delights of the Cilento National Park which has many great walks. The 1:50000 map for the park is available at many tabacchi and would be essential for any serious walking. If driving on rural roads we would recommend allowing plenty of time as they can be quite tortuous and exciting.
Paestum is well worth a visit and the gelati at the Bar Museo next to the Museum is particularly recommended.
Pizza at the Madonna della Scala in Castellabate is a must and the house red is extremely drinkable!
Local supermarket had pretty much everything we required but the bread is better at the local baker.
Thanks again. Ciao.

What a brilliant holiday we have just had! 2 weeks of beautiful weather staying in this really lovely apartment which was just right for us. We are a family of four, children aged 5 and 8. We arrived on a late flight into Naples, picked up our hire car and followed the clear instructions we'd been sent. Heather, Peter and Harvey the dog were there to meet us and made us feel so welcome, we all settled in immediately. The apartment was accurate to the description and we found it clean, bright, well maintained with a good layout and spacious, with lovely furnishings. It always kept a lovely cool temperature so sleeping was really comfortable. Throughout our holiday we got to know Heather and Peter well, they were so friendly, generous, helpful and kind. They gave us advice on where the good, quieter beaches were, nice gelaterias and pizzerias and offered their basil, chillies, figs and lemons for our use, we also loved their homemade limoncello and jams. They had beach towels available which was great for flight weight restrictions and all sheets and towels were changed at the end of the first week. We enjoyed meeting their neighbours down the road who were also very welcoming.
We split our time between going to the local beaches and exploring the area in our fiat 500! The area was really beautiful from San Marco and Santa Maria and the town of Castellabate to further afield Paestum (only 25 mins away) and Pompei. The Cilento National Park was great to explore, green dense woodland, mountainous with pretty hillside villages. We visited an amazing natural beauty spot - Cascata Capelli di Venere, Casaletto Spartano - ice cold clear pools, dappled sun, waterfalls

Activity and Interests
Pozzillo beach in San Marco takes just 10 minutes to reach by car (or around 30 minutes if you walk). During July/August this is mainly lidos - from 15 Euros/day for an umbrella and two sunbeds - but sections of free beach can still be found.
Ogliastro Beach is 15 minutes by car. This is mainly free beach, with some lidos - slightly cheaper than Pozzillo.
Castellabate medieval village 5km (10 minutes by car).
Naples 120km (2 hours by car, 1.5 hours by train).
Salerno 60km (1 hour by car, 45 minutes by train).
Paestum - Greek temples 25 km (1/2 hour by car).
Pompeii and Vesuvius 80 km (1.5 hours by car or train).
Capri (by hydrofoil) from San Marco harbour a 2 hour journey across the sea.
Ravello, Sorrento and Positano and the exceptionally beautiful Amalfi coastline by hydrofoil (25 minutes) or by coastal road (1 hour).
For shopping there's San Marco (5 minutes by car), Santa Maria (10 minutes), Agropoli (20 minutes), Salerno (1 hour).
Lunch on the coast in Acciaroli 30 minutes by car.
Lunch in the Alburni Mountains 1 hour by car.
Full travel insurance and private transport (own or hired car) are strongly advised. Public transport is available and cheap, but restrictive and patchy.
