Seaholm is a great house for family and friends to share a memorable holiday, with fantastic views across the channel, the Capstone and across the valley. Our large lounge occupies most of the upstairs floor and offers the best views and plenty of space for everyone. Our lovely caretaker takes pride in an immaculately clean home, and she'll leave you with a cream tea so you can relax as soon as you arrive. Many of our guests also take advantage of our additional grocery acceptance service or party catering to ensure their holiday really is just that. Tired parents of young children can relax as we've got stair gates and equipment a plenty, and toddlers will love our toy box full of new things to play with. Others may prefer to relax in the games room where you can play pool or watch a DVD. We have a large patio area for barbecues, and some guests have used it for pre-wedding parties. Our patio and garden have lovely views across the town and surrounding fields.

New for this year is our completely renovated sitting room and toy snug, which together occupy most of the first floor. New recessed lighting and a partial wall to create a play area for younger children make Seaholm even more comfortable for families and multi-generation groups. If you've no children in tow, the toys pack away into a bench out of sight. We've better organised the room around the lovely sea views and installed a wooden floor. We've also bought a 43" Smart TV for the room so you should never miss your favourite programmes, and our new bluetooth soundbar will allow you to stream music from your phone/tablet.

We offer a selection of additional services tailored to give you the best of both hotel and self-catering. You can chose from catering, pampering and housekeeping services to make your holiday extra special.

Seaholm sleeps 12 in comfort - 10 in fixed beds and the addition 2 in a sofa bed by prior arrangement. We have numerous, large shared areas that allow the whole party to come together for meals or relaxation but then break off into groups with ease. Whether you’re avoiding the kids or your mother-in-law you'll find your own space.

About the Owner

I first starting holidaying in Devon in my teens, so when a chance to start my adventures in property development came up in 2007 in Ilfracombe, I didn't hesitate. Months of dusty living on a building site followed, and our first property, Seaholm (e2535), was the result. Unable to forget my adventures in property, the Retreat (e3718) followed in 2011, and Dove Chapel (e20292) in 2015. I live in London with my family but whenever we're away from Devon, we're always plotting our next trip back. Seaholm gives us the amazing seascapes and acres of space we crave after London life. The Retreat surrounds us with hills and trees and a cosy, peaceful stay in front of the fire. Dove Chapel gives us a quirky, character house with amazing river and estuary views.

Clean, spacious, comfortable.

Very nice house, well kept, clean and spacious with all the utilities we needed and a lovely sea vue from the living room. We were a group of 12 and there was plenty of room for all of us, with very spacious living and dinning rooms, a large, well kept garden and a good sized kitchen diner. It is ideally situated near the centre of Ilfracombe. Landlord was friendly when we met her and has been very pleasant to deal with.

We couldn't have been happier with our stay and all the guests were very happy with the house.

Week in Ilfracombe

Really nice stay in a house that we felt fully matched the description on the site. Loved the lounge room and the skylights let lots of air and light in. Nice bedrooms and layout and although some patches of the house were perhaps a little tired (odd hole in the wall and carpet stain) it was lovely overall and in a great location on the coastal path. A week stay was perfect for getting out and about in the area. Good having the children's toys and books; these were well received by our 18 month old and the gates for the stairs were great. We thought the house was excellent value for a big family or group of friends and would recommend a visit.

Location

We absolutely love North Devon, and now that we've got a dog and a toddler the area has even more of the things we need to make downtime relaxing. The North Devon coastline is breathtaking and the wide open spaces of Woolacombe beach are only a 10-minute drive away. Ilfracombe itself also has a lot to offer – for young children there’s the aquarium, soft play and award-winning rockpooling. For the rest of us there’s plenty of opportunity to eat the catch of the day in some top-class restaurants or enjoy fishing or boat trips. And then there's the pubs. We’ve always loved artisan beer and those from the local area are second to none. We have a well-established circuit of favorite pubs and pub walks that give us the blend of scenery and fine food we've come to enjoy locally.

Special interest holidays:

Seaholm is right on the coastal path, and so perfect for walking holidays.

Coast/Beach:

Ilfracombe has 2 shale beaches, both within a few minutes walk from the house. The public beach is small and rocky and allows dogs all year around. The Tunnels beach is one of the best rockpooling beaches in the country and a wedding venue. There's also a fantastic soft play centre and cafe onsite.

Woolacombe holds the 'England for Excellence Gold Award' for best family resort and it's a 15-minute drive from the house. The 3-mile walk along its length is stunning at any time of year.

Travel:

Exeter airport is 68 miles from Ilfracombe. Barnstaple is the nearest train station and it is 14 miles from the house. It's certainly possible to get to the house using public transport as the bus service to local towns (including Barnstaple) is pretty good. We do recommend a car, though, to get the most out of the local area.

Distances:

Woolacombe (beach and surfing town) 6 miles. Heddon Valley (coastal walks and pub) 11 miles. Braunton (burrows and town) 8 miles. Barnstaple (largest local town) 14 miles. Broomhill Sculpture park (Park and lovely cafe/ restaurant) 10 miles. Lynton and Lynmouth (beautiful towns and home of the cream tea) 18 miles.

Further Details:

Ilfracombe has many amenities - harbour, theatre, cinema (including luxury screen), supermarkets, banks, gardens and a museum. There are also fabulous butchers, fishmongers and restaurants that we recommend in our guest information pack.

Changeover Day:
Changeovers are usually Saturday, but we'll try and accommodate an alternative where possible. Short breaks start and finish days are flexible, please ring. Check-in is 4pm, check-out is 10am. Late check-out may be possible by prior arrangement.

Notes on prices:
short breaks are priced at 75% of the weekly rental price.

We welcome one, well-behaved dog are accepted at a charge of £30.

  • We offer these additional services: Grocery delivery – we can accept delivery of your supermarket delivery and put it away ready for your arrival so you’ll have everything you need from the moment you arrive. Party Catering – A local professional firm can cater for you, taking away all the hard work of preparation. Perfect for that big family birthday or well-deserved night off. They offer either dishes ready for you to heat or the full in-house chef experience. Housemaid service – Your house will be fully serviced prior to arrival but we can arrange for additional cleaning during your stay, whether it be clearing up the kitchen and straightening the beds each morning whilst you enjoy a trip out, or a mid-stay freshen-up. Babysitting – We can share details of experienced sitters who can look after your children in the evening whilst you enjoy the local restaurants and bars. Outside: The garden at Seaholm has beautiful views across the town, cliffs and hills and it's also a real sun trap. The patio is large and walled (except for the steps) down one side. We provide table and matching chairs for 6 with additional chairs available. There's also a barbecue. The lawned section of the garden is pretty large and lined with roses. We also have deep flower beds with a lovely apple tree producing sweet eating apples. Our driveway and garage can accommodate 3 cars and there's also plenty of parking on the road in front of the house. Utility Room: We have a separate washer and dryer. We also provide an iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedding is provided - it's 100% cotton. We also provide a bath sheet per person and hand towel and bath mat per bathroom. The property is fully serviced weekly, or after each set of guests. We change the linen mid-stay for two-week bookings. Other: Games room with pool table, Wii, PS 2, assorted jigsaws and board games. Dining room to seat 10 people.
