This penthouse apartment is located in the quaint fishing village/beach resort of Cabanas, situated 4km from Tavira in the Eastern Algarve. The Costa de Cabanas complex is within 2 mins walking distance of the beach and 10 mins from Benamar golf club, whilst it is within easy reach of 3 more golf courses. The complex has a private pool with kids play pool & jacuzzi and pool cafe. It is air-conditioned/heated and consists of a spacious lounge/dining area, fully equipped kitchen, one twin and one double bedroom and one full bathroom. Cabanas has an eclectic mix of restaurants, cafes, bars, mini-markets etc. Nearby the Praia de Cabanas is surrounded by a nature resort, thus there are no unsightly developments spoiling the vista. There is a raised wooden promenade running the whole length of the village, which is perfect for an evening stroll. It is an ideal location for day trips with public buses and trains readily available, serving all areas of the Algarve and Spain.

We had a brilliant time in Cabanas. The apartment is great for families, plenty of room inside and out and very safe for an adventurous 1yr old! It is great that everything is within walking distance and the boat over to the beach grand as it runs continuously. I was very impressed at how child-friendly all the restaurants and cafés were, it made it all so much more enjoyable, overall we had a fab time! Emma, Armagh

We had a wonderful time in your lovely apartment. Cabanas and the people there are very charming and and the surrounding area is beautiful. I had some nice walks in the nature park, including a walk all the way through to Tavira. We are extremely happy and would definitely consider returning, despite the fact that we tend to try new places.

We had a great holiday thanks I'd recommend Cabanas to anyone. The apartment was great and the balconies on each side meant it was perfect for catching (or avoiding the sun) at any time of the day.

Notes on accommodation: Air-conditioning. Safe provided. Lots of kid's toys available, swimming inflatables, buckets, balls, books, buggy etc. Outside: 2 patios serve the apartment, with outdoor dining furniture, sun loungers and barbecue. There is a large shared (salt water) pool, kiddie pool and jacuzzi, outdoor changing areas, pool cafe, sun loungers and umbrellas provided. Wi fi access is available in the pool area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bedlinen are included. The property is thoroughly prepared prior to arrival. Extra cleaning can be organised locally at an approximate cost of €60 - €80. Other: 2 large balcony areas, with outdoor dining equipment, sun loungers and barbecue. A large roof terrace, with clothes line and also useful for quieter sunbathing. Kids beach/pool toys available, books & games and buggy also.

Excellent apartment

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days. We were delighted with this apartment. On our arrival, we were so pleased to see that the apartment was spotless. It had everything we needed and more. We loved the 2 balconies which meant we got the benefit of the sunshine almost all day. It was great also to have the use of a table and chairs on both balconies. The manager, Maria, was as ever extremely helpful. The apartment is very well situated, being only 5 minutes walk away to the boardwalk, near which you can find several shops and restaurants. The boat to the beach also departs from there. Thank you very much, Edel, for the use of your apartment. We certainly hope to be back in the near future.

we missed out this year booking edels apartment but have just booked for aug 2017 as it gets booked so quick we have stayed at a couple of apartments on the complex both brilliant owners and maria so helpful. apartment is plenty big enough, only thing I would say and its not anything bad it would be good if there was a couple of the flat sun loungers as the chair type aren't good for me as have had a new hip but my husband really likes them. hopefully maybe before next xxxx the beach is within five mins you just have top get a boat over 1 euro 50 the cafes restaurants really nice never had bad meal. the indoor market fresh fish/veg etc. great and the continente in tavira for groceries very reasonable. the train takes you a lot of places at a very cheap rate

Gorgeous apartment

We are a family of 4 adults and stayed here in June 2016. The apt is gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Its on the 3rd floor in a lovely quiet complex. Everything was as described by the owner, Edel. We were met by the lovely manager, Maria, who explained everything to us. The kitchen had absolutely everything you'd need, including microwave, washing machine, fridge and separate freezer and more than enough cooking utensils and crockery. There is a safe in the main bedroom and one bathroom. The lounge isn't very big but the balcony just outside more than makes up for it. It is huge and faces west and is a gorgeous place to sit and just watch the sun go down. The complex / area was lovely and quiet at night. Air conditioning is in the lounge area only, this was the only issue we had as the bedrooms were very very warm and uncomfortable for sleeping. However, because the area was quiet it was possible to leave the windows open at night. The apartment is only 5 mins walk from the main street/boats to the beach. There's a supermarket just on the left when you reach the main st. The train station is a very easy 12 min walk and the bus stop is about the same distance. The Ecovia walk to Tavira / Gran Plaza shopping centre is just up from the bus stop and takes about an hour, easy walk, through the Saltpans, its really worth doing this walk or cycle. Edel has lots of great information in the apt and has some lovely walks mapped out for guests, we made full use of it. We used the train to go to Faro, Tavira, Vila Real de Santo Antonio and onto Ayamonte in Spain via the ferry. We also did a day trip to Seville. We only got time to get to the beach once, its a brill place for a long long walk and swim afterwards, the boats to take you to the beach can be found just 5 mins from the complex. We didn't visit the pool area as we just didn't have the time. Restaurants are very good value, we loved Vitaminas for toasties and cocktails, Restaurante O Monteiro for great steaks and the lovely owner/manager and the cafe next to Spar on the main street for coffee and local food. We know Portugal really well, having lived and holidayed there for years but we all agreed that Cabanas is unlike any place else in the Algarve - its really pretty and small, with low rise buildings and still authentic. Hopefully it will stay like this for a long long time. I would highly recommend Edel's apartment and highly recommended Cabanas for a great holiday.

Relaxing Holiday

We were really glad that we chose Edel's apartment for our holiday as we had looked at many in the Cabanas area and the reviews were important in our selection as all too often we have arrived somewhere only to be disappointed.

We were not disappointed with anything about our stay at Cabanas and the location of the apartment was ideal for our needs. Cabanas is a perfect place to holiday as a young family or as a couple, there is plenty to do and see in the area or a little further if you wish.

The beach is a great place to unwind and is very clean and child friendly, it even has a couple of places to buy a snack, but the boat trip to get to it makes it seem a little special.

Cabanas itself is very nice with lots of places to eat and drink with a few gift shops, and along the boardwalk are on a Saturday evening there was a nice little market selling hand made crafts.

Our favourite places to eat were The Jolly Sailor(lovely meat dishes and Prawn Curry)D.Ines(great kebabs and big pizzas)and Dunas(fresh orange and toasters) although there were lots of others.

Had a day trip to Tavira by train costing about 3€ each way, but decided to get a boat taxi back 30€. Tavira is a place you have to visit and wish we had visited it twice although the wife wasn't keen on the Tuc Tuc ride we got to see some of the hidden gems it has.

I would recommend Edel's apartment as it is only a short walk to the beach and seafront area for the bars/restaurants, and had everything you need to make your holiday more enjoyable.

We would love to return to Cabanas and miss it already.

Cannot wait

Went to edels apt aug bank hol 2014 and just booked for same time 2015 cannot wait as was bit poorly 2014 so really looking forward to enjoying every bit off apt this time. Whole area is so good,apt is so central, everyone would benifit from apartment being right in middle of cabanas not far from restaurants,beach,train,etc,so good. There is everything you need in apt bbq rooftop terrace brill for sunbathing two balcony a back and front below, just cannot fault location.

we stopped at edels apt for two weeks from august bank holiday and we loved it. as i was suffering with bad hip and could not walk far it was lovely to be near the front. amenities at complex were really good, pool bar and pool area very clean and really nice, so nice we have booked to go back next year,we love cabanas so much so its nice to find a really lovely apartment.

The apartment is a 2 minute walk from the waterfront where a short boat trip (5 mins) will bring you to the spectacular island beach. It has an EU Blue Flag and stretches for 3km. There are changing and showering facilities on the beach as well as a cafe bar.


Faro airport is approx 35 km from Cabanas. Transfer from/to the airport can be arranged with a reliable local taxi company if required (this is payable locally). Buses run frequently from Cabanas to Tavira (well worth visiting). Conceicao train station is a 10 mins walk from the apartment. Car hire is not essential if you just want a relaxing holiday but recommended if you wish to explore the Algarve more fully or venture into Spain. Some friends have seen a lot of the Algarve by train.


Faro 35km. Tavira 4km. Spain 20km. Spanish city of Seville approx 140km drive.
