About Kiran

Owned by a friendly couple; Kiran & Angelo.

We have 2 dogs; Cookie (Brown Cocker Spaniel), Niko (Berger Blanc) and 3 Cats; Jasper, Ziggi & Marlo.

We fell in love with the property, the village, the people and the lifestyle.

Kiran purchased this house in 2009

Why Kiran chose Balledent

The property offers peace, tranquility and seclusion, yet 5 minutes away is the market town of Chateuponsac. The village has got great character where you can stroll the streets, admire the buildings and architecture, browse in the shops and boutiques or stop for a drink and a bite to eat and watch the world go by.

All the facilities and amenities are close by offering you a range of activities and options to choose from for your holiday.

What makes this house unique

Chateauponsac is 5 mins drive, a small town situated in the valley of the Gartempe river. It houses a famous museum, a campsite, shops and restaurants. There is also a free open aired swimming pool.

Lac de Saint Pardoux is 15 mins drive where you will find an "inland sea"with coves, a marina, water sports facilities and beaches of fine sand. A perfect venue for a family day out.

Bellac - 20 mins drive, its parks and squares are most attractive and pleasant to sit in watching the hustle and bustle of the streets.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed at the Gite at Le Planchon for 4 nights. The owners are very friendly, likeable people. Kiran, in particular is a walking Tourist information centre - she advised us on places to go around the area and recommended a couple of superb restaurants for us to have lunch at. She even made the reservations for us! It was clean and well maintained. We would love to return if ever we get back to France. Lyn & Gary

The Gite was lovely, had everything you could need for a short or long stay. Set in the idyllic French countryside, overlooking the lake. It was perfect for a relaxing holiday and we couldn’t have asked for more. This really felt like a home from home, a combination of a beautiful setting, lovely Gite, fantastic host and all the amenities you could need. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking to get away from it all! We’ve already booked in to go again….thanks Kiran! Kate May (Leicester)

une belle étape de vacances!

  • 5 of 5

A nice time spent there during our holidays! A warm and kindly welcome from the owners and their lovely son. The property is clean, well-run and fitted out tastefully, rooms are spacious and pleasant. You can find there everything you need.

If you dream about calm and green, the outside is the perfect place with a big garden and a lake for fishing.

There is a children's play area better than in a campsite!

Well situated, between Bellac and Châteauponsac, the property is near the lake of St Pardoux, nice place for swimming. Let us stop here and not tell more about this place, as we want to find vacant places when we book next time we will come back!!

Thank you again for the welcome! Lyon's family.

Perfect location, Superb gite and lovely couple

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of June. The weather was fantastic just like the Gite and location.

The gite is very authentic with stone walls and a stone floor in the living room. It is large, clean and very comfortable and was equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay.

There was even sky television with uk channels but who needs a tv when you've got views like these over the large fishing lake and surround area.

We spent most evenings just sitting there, sampling the french wine and enjoying the views and peace and quiet.

Kiran and Angelo were the perfect hosts, there if you needed them but left you to your own devices. If you needed any information about the surrounding area, where to eat and france in general then Kiran was the font of knowledge and was extremely helpful.

Overall we could not have asked for more apart from we wished we had stayed for longer.

We hope to return in the future.

Lovely spot to rest and recuperate with the family

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week away at the property in May.

The Gite is certainly authentic with its thick stone walls, exposed beams and stone floors, but at the same time it is large, comfortable, well equipped and clean.

The immediate surroundings are beautiful, overlooking the fishing lake in a small hamlet a short drive from Chateauponsac.

Kiran and Angelo are the perfect hosts, friendly, laidback and always on hand for advice and recommendations – not even minding when our 4 year old kept inviting herself round to play with their son of the same age.

Overall the Gite provided us with an ideal base for some much needed R&R, whilst perfectly located to explore the lovely surrounding countryside and beautiful towns of the region.

Superb location, exceeded expectations, 1st class!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here just for two nights on our way home from the med coast. The only thing that we got wrong is that we should have booked a fortnight! The immediate location of the Gite is superb and the surrounding area is as beautiful as you would expect in this part of France. The Gite is very well equipped and the description on the listing if anything undersells the accommodation, communications with the owner throughout the booking process were really good. The owner, Kiran gave us the warmest welcome that anyone could expect, and has a detailed knowledge of the area, restaurants etc, and first class customer service! As we were only staying two nights, we only had opportunity to eat out at one restaurant, this had been recommended by Kiran, and the food was excellent and great value for money. We will definitely be back for another visit and would recommend the Gite to anyone. A lovely rural location, but close enough to lots of amenities, ample parking space and set in a lovely environment.
