Idilic Holiday Cottages in Berne, Southern Brittany, France - Idilic, Quiet Location With Plenty Of Space To Relax And Unwind

The quiet hamlet of Ty Neve is located on the edge of the national forest of Pont Callec; Ty Neve has a total area of 4 acres of well tended grounds and gardens to enjoy, along with a private woodland to explore. Both cottages have excellent views of the forest from different aspects. Each cottage has its own garden area which offers a patio area complete with furniture and a bbq. The 5mx11m fenced, heated swimming pool, with roman steps, is located to the right of both properties and has a generous sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols, this also overlooks the Scorff river valley offering spectacular views whilst you relax with your family in the lovely Breton sunshine.

If you tire of sunbathing then you can be more active by taking advantage of our badminton area, table tennis or boules. Maybe go for a cycle ride, bring your own or use one of ours, explore by foot the enchanting forests that surround us or see if you can find the remains of the medieval hamlet in Pont Callec. If all that sounds too much you can choose to chill out in the hot tub which is situated just behind La Coppice; it is available all seasons.

For those that can't switch off or need to keep connected internet access is available on site.

A charming restored Breton cottage with many of its original features displayed, which include large stone fireplace with a log burning stove, original oak beams and chestnut flooring.

The kitchen/Diner offers a fully equipped modern kitchen complete with everything you need to make your holiday effortless, dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridgefreezer, crockery, cutlery and glasses for 2 sittings or more.

The dining area enjoys stunning views over the forest and enjoys the sun all day long. The Sitting room offers a wood burning stove, TV and freeview satellite plus a DVD player.

One double bedroom plus the main bathroom are located on the ground floor, offering you easy access and making this ideal if you have mobility problems.

The master bedroom comprises of a king size double bed complete with luxurious bedding, plus an en suite with shower WC and hand basin.

The twin room overlooks the pool. Utility room offers washing machine and iron with board.

Fantastic Holiday

We stayed in La Coppice. It was very well equipped and we had a thoroughly relaxing stay here. The Owners, family & pets welcomed us warmly and made our holiday! Nothing was too much trouble and we had a great holiday. There are lots of walks within the area and the coast is not too far away. A hidden gem is the deer wildlife park within 15 km where you can walk or use a buggy deer spotting. We are already planning a longer return visit here as Ty Neve ticked every single box for us.

Lovely gite, relaxing holiday!

We had a great holiday at Ty Neve. We wanted somewhere with a pool and good outdoor space for our 2 boys and Ty Neve fitted the bill really well. The boys loved the pool (and hot tub!) and it was great having so much space for them to run around and play cricket and hide and seek. And after 2 weeks we came back home very relaxed indeed.

The gite itself had everything we needed in terms of facilities and kitchen equipment and Karey was on hand to help with anything we required or answer our questions. We enjoyed having the BBQ and outdoor seating space too. There’s a good supermarket in Plouay about 10 mins drive from Ty Neve and a great baker in the local village.

Ty Neve is beautifully situated in quiet countryside with tons of wildlife but within reach of many different place to visit and things to do. We discovered lovely beaches within ~30-40 mins drive and fabulous markets, had a great day biking the Blavet valley and loved Concarneau. The boys also loved the submarine museum and Ocean yachting museum at Lorient, which also has a fabulous celtic music festival in the summer. We were generally lucky with the weather so we spent a lot of time outside and in the pool but if its wet there is also enough to do within reasonable driving distance to entertain the kids e.g. the aquatic centre at Quimperle, Ocean yachting museum at Lorient.

We enjoyed our time at Ty Neve so much we’ve decided to go back again this year as the boys loved it and there’s still so much we want to see and do (Auray, Vannes, Belle isle, Carnac, Lac du Guerledan).

We bought our property whilst on holiday in the area in 2003. We instantly fell in love the view also the building and its unusual and quirky features, the most prominent being the ancient spiral stone staircase to the rear of the longere. It is so peaceful here as to be untrue compared to the hustle and fast pace of life we left behind in England. We hope to share some of the magic of Ty Neve with you.

We are idealy located to visit many beaches along the coast, our closest ones are Guidel and Fort Bloque, approx 25-30 minutes drive, these offer a whole range of sea front activities, including surfing, wind surfing, body boarding, traditional beach for making sandcastles or rockpooling. Bars and restaurants are available and parking is free and plentiful. Other beaches include Carnac and benodet.


Dinard 2hr drive (Airport).

Brest 1h30min drive (Airport).

St Malo 2hr drive (Ferry port).

Roscoff 1h30 min drive (Ferry port).

Cean 3h30min drive (Ferry port).

Calais 6h drive (Euro tunnel).

Car Hire or use of car is highly recommended. We have spare buggies and travel cots to reduce luggage.


Berne is our nearest town it is 5km away and can be easily reached either by car or bicycle. Berne is well equipped, fresh bread is baked every morning in the local boulangerie which also produced delicious pastries and cakes. It also accommodates a post office, small supermarket, tabac and a hairdresser.

Plouay is 7km away, a much larger town than Berne, it has three supermarkets, good restaurants, banks and several bars along with all the other usual amenities.

Provisional bookings can be made for 7 days after this a 25% booking deposit is required to secure your booking (non refundable).
Full payment is due 8 weeks before your arrival.
We can accept cheques and bank transfers in sterling or Euro, please state your preference at time of booking.
Additional costs such as cleaning and towel hire is paid on departure in Euros.

Cleaning charges may be deducted from the damage deposit if the cottage is left in an unfit state.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday in high season May - September. Arrival time after 4pm or after. Departure time 10am or before. These times can be negotiated please contact owner for more details. Low season changeover days are negotiable contact owner.

Condition of property on departure. For our small family run business to operate effectively it is necessary that our guests treat our property and items within it with respect. On the rare occasion that any amount of unreasonable damage occurs we will make appropriate charges to cover the cost of damages incurred or work needed to restore the cottage to its original condition.

25% booking deposit to secure holiday (non refundable)
balance is due 8 weeks before arrival
damage deposit of £100 will be added to balance and refunded in full if no damage occurs
Cleaning charges, including waste disposal, repainting etc, will be deducted from the damage deposit if the cottage is left in an unfit state.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.

We beleive our property is idealy located to offer you the ideal base for your holiday in Brittany, be it that you want to explore the surrounding area or simply relax and watch the wildlife go by. We have many interesting visitors these include, roe deer, bats, owls, humming bird moths, salamanders, crested newts, Eagles, Buzzards, larks and many more fabulous creatures. Being in the countryside at night time is especially spectacular as with no light pollution you can clearly see the milky way and the glow from the light house on the Ilse de Groix.

  • Notes on accommodation: We do not allow smoking inside our cottages but you are welcome to smoke outdoors and to be responsible for your own waste. We do not allow pets inside our cottages (not even our own). Both items listed above are to ensure our cottages are kept as clean as possible for the benefit and the comfort of our guests. Cleaning: We pride ourselves on presenting our cottages to a very high standard of cleanliness. Like most rental cottages cleaning is not included in the price therefore it is essential that it should be handed over in a similar condition to which it was initially presented. If you do not wish to clean at the end of your holiday you can arrange for it to be done for you at a very reasonable rate. Bath towels are available for hire pleases indicate this in the space provided on our booking form. Outside: Within our 4 acres we have a lot to offer, including a Fenced heated swimming pool with roman steps, it is 5mx11m and has a depth of 2.5m. It is heated throughout the summer and is open from 10am - 8pm or later if requested, late night swimming is allowed, the pool has internal lights and looks very pretty when lit up. Each cottage has its own substantial bbq patio dining area complete with furniture and parasol. The gardens are tended daily and kept very neat and are available for you to walk around. There is a children's play area comprising of swing sets and slides. We have a badminton and table tennis area and also a boules court. Depending on the time of year fresh produce can be picked freely from our grounds, items such as plums, strawberries, cherries, peaches, figs and rhubarb. You can also help yourself to a wide selection of herbs we have bay, thyme, rosemary plus a few more.
