House in Maurillac, Lauzun, Aquitaine, Dordogne, France - In Totally Private Quiet Location

Set in a third of an acre, the house and fenced pool are totally private and a perfect venue for a family holiday, or just a group of friends getting together. Bonnet is a charming farmhouse which we have lovingly restored, keeping its character with a mass of beams and stonework. The rooms are all a good size so there is plenty of room for 12 people, everything is in good working order, and if there is ever a little hiccup, we are only 10 minutes away to deal with it immediately. The swimming pool is tiled with a dolphin mosaic, and is fenced to ensure the safety of the children. The house has a large shady garden and the property has no close neighbours. There is a large shady terrace for dining out of doors, or simply wiling away the hours with a book or a bottle of wine.

About Tom Gawthrop

Tom and Maggie sold their pigs and smallholding and moved to France in 1990 with 3 year old Ben and 10 month old Matt. Where have the years gone? Restoring property in the summer and skiing in the winter, that's where. But we wouldn't change a thing. Beautiful Bonnet is now regarded by many friends and holidaymakers as their very own special corner of France. Why not make it yours too?

Why Tom Gawthrop chose Lot-et-Garonne

If you want to get away from it all.....honking horns.... barking dogs....traffic jams...the rat race.... and just chill on a sunbed by a tranquil pool or round a huge table under a shady terrace with a glass of local wine, then Bonnet is for you. The only problem you will have is remembering what day it is. If it is Sunday it is market day in the beautiful medieval town of Issigeac. Mondays it's Miramont de Guyenne. On Tuesday and Thursday nights Eymet has a night market where you can bag a table and eat and drink the evening away........

What makes this farmhouse unique

What does everyone love about Bonnet? Plenty of space for everyone, peace perfect peace, all the stone walls and oak beams inside and out..... or is it the shady ash tree that beckons when it gets too hot by the pool. Barbecueing and eating the local duck breast round the table under the covered terrace while having a blind winetasting of numerous wines is our personal favourite. Buy a selection and throw in a few from other countries. Can you tell which cost €1.99 and which cost €19.99? By the end maybe you'll just be happy to have got the colour right........

Outside: Bonnet has a large shady garden, with a private swimming pool measuring 11x5m with a Roman end, and the pool is fenced off from the house for your children's security. There is a barbecue on the terrace, and a table tennis table under the shade of a walnut tree in the garden. Utility Room: Iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bathroom towels and bed linen are included, beds are made up for our guests arrival. If you wish to have someone to come in to clean for you while you are in residence, this can be arranged. Other: There is a dining room that opens out on to the terrace at one end, and which steps down at the other end in to the kitchen with oak cupboards.

Perfect Space for a large Family Holiday

We spent two very happy weeks here in August 2015. With three generations meeting up, individual space is a must, as is a washing machine and wifi (well we did take two teenagers!) Bonnet met those needs and exceeded everything else. Enough bathrooms and bedrooms for all, enough indoor space for rainy days and enough outside space on sunny ones too! The best feature is by far the beautiful covered terrace - perfect for dining, breakfasting, reading, or just taking a mid day break from the sun.

Bonnet

Our thanks to Tom and Maggie. Bonnet proved to be the perfect setting for our family holiday: lovely, quiet location, spacious accommodation (well equipped and spotlessly clean throughout) and a great swimming pool. We loved the shaded terrace, too, for those long, lazy, late breakfasts and for wine and barbecues in the evenings. Local markets and a range of restaurants were easily accessible by car, the open roads making a mockery of any distances involved. All in all, it was just as we had hoped. We won't hesitate to recommend it to our friends and we look forward to returning ourselves.

Refundable Damage Deposit £252.66
Stay tax £0.34 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the owner upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 13 years.

Booking Notes:
Our prices are in euros, but to avoid 2 sets of international bank charges, we are happy to accept the deposit in pounds sterling, but the balance must be paid in euros. 20% Deposit (Either Euros, or Pounds at the days rate of exchange). 80% balance in euros, due 8 weeks before arrival date, a breakage deposit of £250 will also be due with the balance. An extra bed can be arranged (maximum 13) but there will be a surcharge of 20 Euros per person per night.

Changeover Day:
The changeover day is Saturday, the time our guests are expected to arrive is 4pm, and to vacate the house by 10am the day of their departure.

Notes on prices:
We do ask for a breakage deposit of £250 due with the balance. An extra bed (maximum 13) can be added, but there is a surcharge of 20 euros per person per night, (babies under the age of one are free).

A Tourist Tax has been introduced in France which will be due along with the balance, this is 40 centimes per person over 13 years of age, per day.
