Samoens Grand Masiff Ski Resort has new runs. Modern app 2 bedroom sleeps 6 wifi In the centre of the village great for bars, restaurants & easy access to the slopes.

Large modern apartment 50sq m with free WIFI. Located just off the main square. Private balcony with views of village square and mountains. Easy access to the ski lifts.

Well equipped kitchen, warm & cosy with comfortable sofas, flat screen satellite tv.

A super base in the summer to explore the region, & to enjoy an authentic French Alpine resort. The ski bus stop is 200m and takes 2 minutes to the Express telecabine which then whisks you up to 1600m to enjoy the 265km of Grand Massif interesting varied slopes. Excellent ski schools and crèche facilities nearby, we can advise. Samoens has charming shops, restaurants from pizza to local specialties and bars to sit and observe French life. A large weekly market for everything French. Chamonix & Mont Blanc within 45min, Annecy with its shops canals and lake are only an hour. Summer activities abound, rafting, walking, VTT & road bikes available to hire, horse rideing, parapenting, swimming pool, well kept park with lakes, tennis, cafe & tree rope activites.

About Susan

Early 2005 Kevin and I sold our home near Tunbridge Wells, I left my role as a manager for John Lewis in London & commuting and Kevin his life in the plumbing trade.

We bought a dilapidated farmhouse La Tataz, did a lot of the renovation ourselves.

Started our catered ski chalet business Xmas 2005 and were able to indulge our passions for skiing, entertaining, cooking and homemaking.

A couple of years later another interesting property near by came on the market, Cristal.

We enjoyed renovating & furbishing it in a contemporary Alpine style. It was hard work again but rewarding & at least for Chalet Cristal we had a bit more experience!

Since then we added an apartment in Samoens centre, again gutting it and modernising.

Susan purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Susan chose Samoëns

Kevin spotted this apartment it had such a great central location, but needed gutting & redesigning & fitting out, his next project.

We are very proud of the way it worked out,& everyone has enjoyed the location and the comfort & convience of La Place.

La Place is in the historic centre of Samoens, in a square just off the busier main square. Just sit on the balcony and watch all of French life, shopping, sitting outside taking a coffee, & watching the Sat weddings & funerals in the week!

What makes this apartment unique

We enjoy the fact that everything is newly done and up to date.

After staying over the years in what appeared to be good looking French accommodation but realizing too late how they didn't suit how we liked to live.

As with our other properties we designed & equipped La Place, trying to think of all the practical things that make things easier, so it would be a home from home.

The layout of the apartment works well, enough space to relax with friends with a 4 & a 2 seater comfortable sofas - & a white laminate well equipped kitchen with enough work space. Bathroom with a shower/bath & heated towel rail for dry towels.

I wanted to drop you a line to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at La Place last weekend. You really have made a terrific apartment, beautifully equipped and decorated and such a brilliant location. I’m amazed how you managed to organise the weather too, but we were able to swim in the river near Morillon every day, went up in the cable car, and canyoning near Les Carroz. Lovely places to eat too, especially La Tornalta. A very relaxing break and we are sure we will be returning – thank you.

Aug 2012 -Once again can I thank you for offering such a perfect location and apartment . We have been to several in the alps and yours was by far the most perfect. Jan & Doug, North Lanarkshire.

La Place is a large 50m2 second floor apartment that accommodates up to 6, newly renovated and furbished to a high standard. Two bedrooms; a double and a double with adult size bunk beds The lounge dining area is open plan. leading into the fully fitted well equipped kitchen. [Dishwasher, Fridge/freezer, full size oven/ceramic hob/microwave] The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower there’s plenty of storage in the basin unit, heated towel rail, & there is a separate WC. The apartment is warm & cozy it has under floor heating and radiators. There is a Sony TV, DVDs, Books. The French Windows open out on the the balcony which has wonderful views. Outside: Balcony with table/chairs and great mountain views Utility Room: Ski locker provided. Lock up bike storage Coat and shoe racks in the entrance hallway. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The price is inclusive of the provision of quality linen and towels with beds made up prior to arrival. Final clean is included, however, the apartment must be left clean and tidy.

Ideal Location

The location of the apartment was excellent. Right in the middle of the quaint village; plenty of restaurants and shops to visit. Short walk (15 mins) to the ski rental / locker room and to the Grand Massif lift.

The apartment was clean and comfortable. We had 5 adults, slight squeeze as the bunk beds were ideal for children.

Would like to return in the future.

Excellent location and facilities

Superb location right in the middle of a beautiful village, with easy (free) parking and access. Easy reach to all the attractions that Samoens has to offer. We visited in Summer when there was lots of free entertainment going on for the visitors. Our children were never bored. If you want to spread your wings further there are activities for all interests and levels. I cannot recommend this apartment enough. Very clean and well presented, hosts are excellent. Supermarket and French shops are steps away.

A great apartment in the heart of beautiful Samoëns right on the village square by the town hall and stunning church. Even thought it is near bars/restaurants, it is very quiet. The apartment was clean on arrival and is a good size for a family of 4. The kitchen was well-stocked, the beds were very comfortable and the shower was strong (essential to help with sore muscles at the end of a day's skiing!). Parking was very easy either in the free carpark by the police station/town hall (1 min away) or in the overflow free car park behind it. The only time either the car park got a bit busy (but still with plenty of spaces) was on market day on Wednesday. The owner, Susan, was extremely helpful with all the booking and also gave us details of ski hire shops, airport transfers and ski schools (In the end we hired a car at Geneva with rentalcars.com, hired our skis with Xtreme Glisses as it's so close to the main lift and the children had ski lessons with ESF). This is our fourth visit to Samoëns and we loved every minute of our week here. We will definitely be back.

Lovely Apartment

We returned to Samoens this year as we'd promised ourselves we would do but fancied staying more in the centre of town this time. The apartment provided just what we needed as far as location was concerned and in addition it was an ideal lay-out for four, clean with everything you might need to hand. The balcony provided an ideal people watching spot (especially the Pokemon hunters!), with an awe inspiring mountain view to boot. We would happily book another stay.

Lac Blu with it's Swiming Lake and beach is a 5 min drive.

The Outdoor Swimming pool with slides is a short walk.

The river with swimming is a 5 min drive.

Park and lakes & river a short walk.


Geneva airport is only 1 hour's drive.

Airport Transfers - we can quote.

Lyon, Chambrey, Grenoble and Turin all within approx 2-3 hours drive.

Calais-Samoens is 525 miles and can be driven in 7-8 hours.

The town has many shops, restaurants and bars. Local supermarket is the first shop you come across - for more choice there is a large supermarket on the edge of the village. Plenty of banks with ATMs, gift shops, market on Wednesdays. Ski-school and lots of hire shops. In the summer, the hire shops rent out mountain bikes and arrange rafting etc too. Winter includes skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ice-rink for ice-skating, dog sled trips, parapenting, show-shoe walks. Summer includes rafting on the river Giffre, outdoor swimming lakes, walking, climbing, botanical gardens, free fireworks weekly in July/August and many other free events. Wednesday is market day all year round.
