Farmhouse With Fresh Water Swimming Pool, Overlooking The Beautiful Lucca Hills

Updated: 13-Oct-2016
Farmhouse, Monsagrati, Lucca, Tuscany, Italy - Idyllic Location set in the Lucca Hills, 15 mins North West of Lucca, off The Strada Del Vino

A stunning and very impressive farmhouse is available for a third season to rent. The house interior has a contemporary feel and is finished to a very high standard with all the Tuscan charm and facilities that you could possibly require. All the rooms are large, light and spacious and are all newly finished and furnished. The house mixes many of the original features with the sometimes much needed modern necessities. There are three patios to choose between to either relax and/or dine on. The fresh water pool we are told is one of the best in the area (by the guys that built it!). If you are familiar with the area then we do not need to explain further the ideal setting but for those that don't know the area we attempt to provide as much information in our welcome pack to make sure you fully utilise everything that Tuscany and this area has to offer. For more information/pictures visit our owners website, link is below.

About the Owner

We bought the house in 2006 as a renovation project and spent 2 years of time and hard work with a great local team, bringing it up to the standard it is today (everything had to be perfect!). 2016 will be our 7th season renting the house.

As a family we have been visiting this part of Tuscany for many years and love everything that the area has to offer (especially the food and wine!). We now have 2 young children and the house is a great spot for a family holiday. The house is located in the Lucca hills, giving the house tranquility, yet still close to all the amenities and some of the better places to visit in the area. The photos really don't do the house justice. Anyone staying at the house will have a truly wonderful and memorable holiday

Perfect holiday in Lucca area

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful July week at this beautifully restored old farm house with all modern amenities you need. We spent lacy days around the pool and enjoyed Lucca and other towns during the evenings with stores and nice restaurants. We can highly recommend a evening dinner in Montecarlo some 40 minutes away.

The house manager Gina was very friendly and helpful and arranged for some extra sun umbrellas requested. Very appreciated. A good size super market and a pizza store is located just minutes away.

We will highly recommend this property and the Lucca area for a nice Italy vacation.

We arrived with our 4 children on 11th July 2015 to stay for 1 week. The property was very clean and tidy. Spacious for the six of us with a beautiful swimming pool and views. Well worth the money, we had an amazing family holiday and looking to book again this summer for two weeks.

I booked this villa for a family holiday over the Easter holidays with our two girls and we had a fantastic time. You really feel like you are in the heart of Tuscany. The restaurants, places of interest in Lucca and other nearby areas recommended by the owners were really appreciated and much enjoyed. We would love to come back in the summer when the children will really enjoy the grounds and the pool which looked amazing (too chilly).

The villa was well equipped and the girls loved their bedroom. We were quite happy to stay in and relax around the house as well as venturing out. If needed, there were books and games supplied in the villa.

I would thoroughly recommend the villa and the location and we will be looking to plan a return trip soon.

Thanks for a making our stay that more enjoyable.

The prestigious beach resorts of Forte dei Marmi & Lido di Camaiore are a 30 minute drive away, the drive alone is spectacular winding through the Tuscan countryside. You are spoilt for choice between the hundreds of private beach clubs but we use & recommend the beach club and restaurant in Lido di Camaiore called Il Cavallone http://www.bagnocavallone.it/en/default.aspx. (great lunches on the beach). In the welcome information pack we provide details of other beach clubs and contacts details depending on your needs. Forti has several designer shops and boutiques and is a great place to grab a late afternoon cocktail and just watch the world pass by.

Pisa airport is approx. 40 minutes by car. Florence is approx. 1 hour by car.

A car or car hire is recommended to travel to and from the house and to explore the surrounding area. However, if needed, local taxi information is available.

The medieval walled town of Lucca is about a 15 drive. It has all the amenities you'd require, including shops, bars, banks, restaurants, local markets, festivals and concerts. The Lucca Summer Music Festival in July attracts many of the world's top performers. It is worth looking into what is showing in the amphitheaters and the main squares. Performance include Puccini recitals by a local group, to a James Brown or Bon Jovi concert. Monsagrati village is only a few minutes down the 'hill'

Further Details:

Our agent Gina will meet you on arrival, and will give you very comprehensive information pack regarding what there is to do and see in the area. If required we can arrange for a basket of local produce to be available upon arrival (additional cost). However, if you have a few ideas of your own we can book these for you in advance, or you can organise with Gina upon arrival.

A few ideas are below:

1. We can highly recommend an English speaking babysitter, who has excellent references and who we've used for years.

2. There are many local restaurants with the amazing views and spectacular local food and wines (all within 5 to 20 mins). These are not touristy restaurants and will offer a first class experience. We have been going to most of these restaurants for years and we can highly recommend them

3. A pizza night at the house with a pizza chef

4. Private Italian Chef for the week or just one night (or even cooking classes)

5. Horse Riding

6. Local olive Oil and wine Tasting

7. Kayaking, cycling and walking in the surrounding area

8. The stunning walled medieval city of Lucca is only 15 mins away. During the summer months it has several varied music festivals. The cobbled streets are full of Italian designer shops, bars and restaurants

9. We recommend renting bikes to cycle around the City's famous walls giving breathtaking views of the surrounding area (available for all ages)

10. Experience at least one Puccini opera recital in Lucca

11. Children fun parks - 'Wet n Wild' at the Aqua Village Water Park or family entertainment at the 'Cavallino Matto'

11.The famous historic Tuscan cities of Florence, Pisa and Sienna are close by

12. The beautiful towns of Barga and Castlenuovo di Garfagnana are worth a visit. Set amongst stunning scenery, enjoy walking, cycling or visiting the many castles and monasteries as well as the great weekly markets

13. The beach resorts of Forte de Marmi & Pietrasanta; beach clubs recommended for either families or adults

  • Notes on accommodation: The house has been lovingly and carefully restored. It is finished to a very high specification. The house is built in the original stone and include both the original staircase and terracotta tiles that are still used in and around the house. The ceilings use many of the original wooden beams. Where possible local materials have been sourced, so whilst the house is contemporary, it still retains all its Tuscan charm. A history of the house and the various stages of the renovation project are detailed in a book available at the house. There is ample living space with numerous areas to relax both internally and externally; so even if there is a large group of people, you can always find a quiet space to relax. All the bedrooms are of a very good size, and one or two still have the original stone work exposed. All the windows have cream shutters which are a real traditional feature of the house. Upstairs is all wooden flooring. There is a real feeling of space throughout the house. Outside: There is a large private terrace & garden at the rear of the house (partially covered by a pergola) incl. a large wooden table, 8 wooden chairs and cushions, and an iron barbeque area. A perfect place for those long lunches (in the shade) and dinners. It is a very tranquil area. There is also a patio at the front of the house with very large comfortable chairs, again perfect for those sundowners at the end of the day. It is a great spot to watch the sun set over the local Tuscan hills. The private pool is accessed down a path, away from the house, through the garden and down some further steps. It is a fresh water pool surrounded by locally sourced stone. It has spectacular views down the valley. There are sun loungers / cushions and a parasol. In the pool house there are inflatables for children (or even adults!). The pool is 12m x 5m with gradual steps in one corner. It is a constant depth of 1.50m. It is cleaned and maintained once a week. The pool is closed October to March. Utility Room: A separate utility room holds a washing machine, ironing board, storage and iron. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Greeted upon arrival by Gina, our managing agent, and shown around the house & grounds. A cleaner will come once a week to change towels, linen, bedding etc which are all included. If guests require additional cleaning services, this can be arranged. Other: A cot and highchair are available as well as other baby equipment (please ask if need further information).
