Overview

Property

Updated: 10-Oct-2016
Villa in Miami Playa, Costa Dorada, Spain - Peaceful Location, 20 Mins Drive From Theme Park And 5 Mins Drive From Beach

Villa is beautifully presented and maintained with all mod cons. Xbox and Kinect also provided. It occupies a corner position and has impressive views of the mountains and of the coast and sea. Villa has a BBQ built into the downstairs terrace which makes for a perfect finish to the long summer day. The complex has a seasonal poolside bar which is for guests of the complex only and there is a communal lounge with toys, games and books and wifi (passcode needed from bar manager). This is a popular villa for families and large groups as other similar villas are also available but early booking is recommended as availability becomes limited. Welcome drinks are provided on arrival for all stays and our friendly managers are available to help with any questions that guests may have. Linen and towels are included in the rental cost and beds will be made up ready for your arrival and welcome drinks left for you to enjoy.

The communal areas are very pleasant and spacious. They are laid to lawn with plenty of room to sunbathe by the pool or sit by the little bar area. The private garden is landscaped to the rear and side and has a patio area ideal for sunbathing at the area leading to the communal gardens and pool.

About the Owner

We are a family of 6 and have 4 children, now aged 15, 14, 10 and 7 and live in Ashtead, Surrey.

We have been coming to this area since 2000 and have found it to be ideal for children and families.

The beaches are sandy and are not crowded like other more popular Spanish resort.

We own two homes in this area - a villa with private pool and one with a shared pool in a complex. We have been renting both since we purchased in 2002.

Our children love the area, the theme parks and the people.

I am an Project Manager in Rail in the UK and my wife is language teacher - but now looks after the children's busy social lives and the pet dog!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I don't normally write reviews on holidays but had to for Casa Lyse because we loved it so much!

The house was very well equipped and was even nicer than we had expected. It was lovely and spacious, which was fantasitc as there are 6 in our family, with 4 children under 10. And the air conditioning was a God send! My kids all had a great time and made friends with lots of other children.

It's very close to a gorgeous sandy beach which was great for the kids and we particularly liked Playa Cristal. It's also really near to Port Aventura which the kids loved and Aquapolis was a

fantasitc waterslide park. It was great to spend the day there and then get to relax at the pool and have a glass of wine on the terrace.

Ellie- the manageress - was obliging and helpful - nothing was too much trouble and it was great that she was on site for advice whenever we needed to know anything.

All in all, it was a great holiday and we'll definitely be returning!

Claire and Ciaran Sweeney.”

“We had a very relaxing time at the villa and it had everything we needed. The pool was ideal for all the hot days we had and the pool bar was a great place to socialise in the evening. I'd recommend hiring a car as there are lots of places to visit nearby and Port Aventura is literally only 15 minutes drive away. The complex was lovely - Ellie looked after us very well and we hope that she enjoyed the birthday celebrations which she shared with my husband and continued well into the wee small hours.”

Owner's response: Great to hear you had a good time Ros - Elli said she had a great time with yourselves and the other family in Casa Suzy and she had a wonderful shared bday! We arrived the day you left so almost got to meet you but you had gone already!! Have a lovely Xmas and we hope to welcome you again to Casa Lyse sometime in the future. Best regards Karen

“We had a great family holiday at Casa Lyse (me, husband and three girls 14, 12, 10 - always hard to please them!) - the villa was roomy and the air con was really useful especially on the hotter nights. the pool was fab, with plenty of other children around which gave me and my husband some time to actually sit and do nothing, for once. Enjoyed the paella evening at the complex - good value - and found the manageress helpful and pleasant. also went to the beach (when we could drag ourselves away from the pool) nice and sandy and not too crowded, and spent a couple of days exploring the local area. Really enjoyed ourselves and hope to go back. Thanks!!

Great Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Accommodation was excellent and the owners were very helpful prior to arrival. The villa was clean and well equipped and the a/c in the master bedroom was very welcome. A food and drink basics welcome pack was a nice touch. It was easy to access the well maintained pool from the villa. Ellie's on site bar next to the pool was very welcome. The location is excellent with a short drive (or walk) to the nearest cove beach and easy access to the mountain areas. Miami Playa was not overly busy and had a good selection of bars and places to eat.

A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time. The property is so cleverly designed. Each villa feels 'private' (there's about 10 or 12 separate villas) with its own secluded patio area, but is close to the communal pool and I mean communal in the very best sense of the word. Our kids made friends with the other kids in the pool on the first day and that was it, we would have to drag them in at 10 o'clock or later. In other words, heaven for mum and dad. Tellingly, the other families were all repeat visitors to the development. The villa itself had everything we needed. It is also brilliantly positioned. 20 minutes from PortAventura if that takes your fancy, a walk to the nearest supermarket, cafe and take-aways, a short drive to the beach. The owners provide you with a detailed 'brochure' of recommended restaurants etc. and you really get a sense of their pride in their place, deservedly so.

Highly recommend this fantastic place.

Our family stayed in this villa in June. We loved it! We have three children and the toys, books and games provided in the villa kept them busy when they weren't in the pool. They loved the Disney Kinnect game!

The villa is well presented and well maintained and was spotless on arrival. Everything was really clean - something we appreciate. The rooms in this villa are huge and makes it all really spacious. The air con in the main bedroom is marvellous and the ensuite bathroom is bigger than any bathroom I have seen in a holiday villa! Nice corner bath ( which we didn't use, but the children loved a long bath playing with all the water toys) and the bathroom had a good shower. The children's

room had fans and kept them comfortable at night. They also had an ensuite which they loved! The owners have thought of everything to make it a home from home and it was a nice touch to find some wine and soft drinks in the fridge as well as some little snacks for the kids when we arrived. The manager Ben was really helpful and friendly and there was no language barrier as he was English.

The owners had given us a lot of very useful information before we left the Uk so we felt like we were able to plan our days and beach visits really well.

The shared parts of the complex were also good - very convenient. The little bar was run by a German lady who was very friendly and helpful and also provided us with the wifi which was at times intermittent but not really a problem. The shared lounge area was good and the kids enjoyed sitting inside and colouring or playing games - its good if you want to get out of the sun for a bit but don't want to go back to you own garden. There is a table tennis also but we preferred the pool. What I liked the most about this group of houses is that the shared gardens are great for sitting in to watch the children in the pool and keep an eye whilst they run around playing and yet I could retreat to the Villa garden to have a glass of wine and read my book peacefully. The hedges provide lots of privacy and we enjoyed every minute.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday and are hoping to come back next year.

Perfect!

We loved this villa and complex so much that we are returning for a 3rd time. The villa is spacious and both bedrooms have their own on-suites with an additional toilet downstairs. The back of the property has a built in bbq which we made good use of and outdoor furniture for al fresco dining. The kitchen is large and airy with everything you could need.

Although the villa is in a complex it has a very intimate feel. The communal pool area was never busy and mostly occupied by families with children having fun (but no screaming or noise). Next to the pool is a little 'bar' that sells snacks and amazing cocktails and sangria very reasonably priced. This is a lovely spot to sit in the evenings listening to a little music or watching the kids play in the pool. I like that Ellie (the lady who runs it) makes mocktails too which my teenage son loved.

Just a 5min stroll away is an amazing bakery and we like to wander down in the mornings to buy freshly baked bread and pastries - be warned it's hard to choose. Within walking distance just along from the pastry shop is a supermarket that stocks everything you could need.

The villa is well equipped with sun loungers and also games suitable for a wide age range - including an x-box which kept my teenage son happy!

Although we go predominantly for the stunning beaches there is a golf course nearby and my son goes to Port Aventura every time which is clearly a highlight.

There are some lovely restaurants in the area and there are personal recommendations left by the owners which we found very helpful - we loved the buffet place (sorry can't remember the name) in the mountains and it is a must do for us every time.

We have both driven and flown to the villa. It's about an hour or so from Barcelona but there is an airport closer called Reus. There is ample parking on the street in front of the villa but also alongside the house.

We plan to go back to this villa every year as we have fallen in love with the area - especially the little bay at Calafat.

Very disappointed

  • 1 of 5

Summer Half Term 2014 as it seemed to offer exactly what we were after from a holiday, we wanted a place to meet people, yet have our garden to relax in. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to our expectations at all and so regrettably we need to pass this information on to fellow holiday makers as a follow up.

Positives: the master bedroom and ensuite are wonderful, with views over the complex. The wonderful sea views are questionable, and very distant. Mountain views are great from the 2nd bedroom. The two managers are friendly and welcoming and the owners were very helpful in the first instance when making the booking. They also gave us very helpful hints and tips with places to go and where to eat. The booking process was easy and friendly and we were very excited.

The 2nd bedroom is adequate and functional, yet dated and basic. The lounge is adequate & not the comfiest, but often the lounge isn’t important as you can spend time in the garden. Which is where ONE of our major niggles is with. The website claims it’s own garden, granted there is a space outside to park your car – but the garden has been covered in large stones which are impossible to walk on and definitely not relax on and spend time in your own garden. There are only 2 loungers (we asked for more but got a negative response), so it was impossible to actually use the garden other than to park the car in. There is a basketball hoop as listed, but no ball and you definitely can’t play basketball on that surface. The garden is essentially a car park.

MAJOR PROBLEM : We wanted to spend time at the pool bar and games room. However, upon our arrival they were all closed up. The lady in charge said that the pool bar doesn’t open except in high season, and there was no games room as the table tennis table is broken. She offered us Twister, and that was it. There was nothing at all in the games room except storage of chairs. The bar opened on our last night. The listing should let you know that the pool bar and games room are not there except in high season, and this is still at the discretion of the lady who opens it. I would hate to think that other guests will be expecting these as it was one of our priorities for the holiday.

In summary, no useable garden, no open pool bar, and no games room, no basketball, not enough loungers, no where to relax (unless you dragged your own chair to the pool area).

I am sorry to leave this accurate & honest review.

Owner's Response: These guests spent a week in our property enjoying the villa, garden and complex. On checkout the family informed our managers that they had had a great holiday and thanked them for looking after them. We were subsequently surprised to receive a request from the guest asking for compensation/refund as we had mis-described and hadn’t been able to enjoy her stay. She informed us that would post a negative review unless we made a refund as our listing was wrong. We took her concerns very seriously and immediately investigated our listing and description and referred to Owners Direct and our managers. Our managers were also surprised to hear that they been unhappy and informed that the family had not contacted them to say that they felt the property and facilities were not what they were expecting. All guests also have our own personal numbers and we received no call from them at all during their stay. The little poolside bar was in fact open during the week that this guest stayed and is run by the site manager who informs of opening times. This information is provided to all guests. A new table tennis table was being delivered to replace the broken one and the site manager explained this. It arrived end of May 2014. There are five sun-loungers that belong to this property. More can be requested if needed. The private garden is landscaped due to drought restrictions put in place by local government to control water consumption and use of sprinklers. It is free from mud, dirt, dead grass and weeds. There is a car bay for one car within the property or you can park right outside the property. We don’t have a car park in the garden. The pool is open all year. There are pictures of the bedrooms on the listing. The walls are white and refreshed every season. The communal lounge is managed by the site manager and is available for all guests to use. There are games, books and similar. The site manager advises of timings. There is a basketball hoop for children to practise their shot not a court. We have a cupboard with our own childrens balls and toys, parasols, cool boxes etc. This family had access. We take pride in the villa and hope that all guests enjoy their stay. Our managers are excellent at solving problems which our guests encounter. We always investigate problems and always offer solutions. It’s wrong to be held to ransom with threats of bad reviews and untruths and this guest would have been compensated if there were grounds.
