The Manse is a lovely, elegant, comfortable and well-equipped family home. Set in its own large grounds and with fabulous views across to the Cuillins on Skye, it is the perfect base from which to explore the island of Raasay and beyond. Whatever the time of year, Raasay has great beaches, walks and cycle routes, breathtaking scenery and stunning wildlife. The house has its own all-weather tennis court, well equipped games room and huge treehouse, ideal for children of all ages. Or, if you want a more leisurely experience, you can enjoy the views from a comfy sofa by an open fire.

Activity and Interests


Raasay is one of the most beautiful islands in the Inner Hebrides. Tucked between the isle of Skye to the west and the Scottish mainland to the west, it is just 14 miles long and 4 miles wide. The sea is never far away on Raasay: it's a 10 minutes walk to North Bay beach but there are many other beautiful bays and beaches and inland lochs to explore all over the island.


Your journey to Raasay will take you through some spectacular scenery. Inverness is the closest airport but there are also budget flights to Glasgow and Edinburgh. The journey by road from Inverness to the Raasay ferry at Sconser (via the Skye bridge) is 2.5 hours; from Glasgow or Edinburgh 5 hours. The Raasay ferry, operated by Caledonian MacBrayne, runs almost hourly in the summer, a great way to arrive on the island. The crossing takes 20 minutes and it's then just 5 minutes to the Manse.


Many visitors choose to scale Dun Caan, the distinctive flat topped mountain, but there are also inland and coastal walks to suit all tastes, forests and beaches to explore and a richness of flora and fauna rarely found in the British Isles. It is easy to cross to Skye on the ferry to climb the Cuillin ridge or stay on the island and go fishing, mountain biking or walking.

The nearby Raasay House and Activities Centre offers a wide range of day activities including climbing, abseiling, kayaking, coasteering and mountain bike hire. Its licensed bar and restaurant is only a 10 minute walk from the Manse. There is a small shop and post office in Inverarish village which sells local meat and vegetables and all basic supplies and the nearest Coop supermarkets are at Broadford or Portree on Skye.

Visitors come to the Inner Hebrides to experience the unique combination of mountains, water, space and light. If you want to get away from the pressures of urban life, this is the place for you. Wide open spaces, breathtaking views, wonderful wildlife and very few people. The Cuillins on Skye are easily accessible from Raasay as are all the other attractions of Skye such as castles, fairy pools, potteries and boat trips. There are several highly rated restaurants on Skye which are well worth a visit, including the Michelin-starred Kinloch Lodge and Three Chimneys. The Stein Inn and Loch Bay seafood restaurant in the north west of Skye are our particular favourites.

New for 2012 is a top of the range gas BBQ. Utility Room: Washing machine, plenty of drying room, second fridge. Tumble dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. The property is cleaned once a week. Cot available by request. Other: Separate games room with log burning stove, table tennis and bar area.
