Le Pigeonnier is a quality conversion from a 200 year old, Perigordian, former pigeon tower and retains much charm with exposed stone walls and ceiling beams. Fully equipped and comfortably furnished, the self-catering accommodation is on 3 levels.
All rooms are south facing, with lovely views over the vineyard. So too has the terrace, with dining table, chairs, parasol and barbeque.
On the ground floor is a single room consisting of open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen has cooker, fridge, microwave, washing machine and all equipment needed for basic cooking. The first floor comprises a double bedroom and a shower room with separate WC. The second floor offers a stunning twin-bedded bedroom with vaulted Perigordian ceiling.
The gite has Wi-Fi Internet access, UK Freeview TV channels, DVD player and music system together with a selection of books, DVDs and board games. There's also local information and a welcome basket on arrival. Bed linens and towels are provided.
At Le Peynau we provide self-catering holiday accommodation in two charming French country cottages or "gites". Our guests tell us that it's both the setting and attention to detail inside the gites that makes our holiday accommodation so special. Both of our gites have been sympathetically converted from former wine-making buildings and retain much French character and charm. The grounds consist of a 2.5 acre estate nestled among vineyards and sunflower fields in the Dordogne region of SW France. Le Peynau is situated just 20km SW of Bergerac and the Dordogne River and only 6 minutes from the medieval market town of Eymet where, along with an excellent range of restaurants and cafe-bars, you will find a choice of 3 boulangeries for your fresh croissants each morning.
The gites are available to let individually or together and are 150 metres apart, each with its own private dining terrace. They have Wi-Fi Internet access and UK Freeview TV Channels.
On-site facilities include a swimming pool and games courtyard with boules, ping-pong and pool table.

About Rachel Jones
I moved to France with my husband in 2007 and our daughter was born here in 2012.
Rachel Jones purchased this cottage in 2007
Why Rachel Jones chose Perigord Pourpre
We considered a number of regions before choosing the Dordogne. It was the pretty towns and villages, undulating landscape, pace of life, climate and the ease of access from the UK that attracted us.
What makes this cottage unique
One of our favourite things is the Sunday lunchtime market at Soumensac which is just 2kms from our property (held in July and August). You pitch up and enjoy delicious, freshly prepared food and wine from local producers. The tables and chairs are positioned in the shade of chestnut trees and to take advantage of the stunning panoramic view. Such a relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
A completed booking form and deposit of 25% of total holiday cost is required on confirmation of booking. The balance together with a returnable damage deposit (£200 per gite) is due 8 weeks prior to your arrival date.
Changeover day is Saturday. Check-in after 16.00 on arrival day and check-out by 10.00 on departure day.
Notes on prices:
15% discount offered for property occupancy by a couple only during May, June and September.
Please note that a maximum of one promotional booking offer can be used at the time of booking (if applicable).

Our stay at "Le Pige" will go down as one of the most joyous holidays that our family have ever had. Rachel and Chris are the most perfect hosts, never intrusive they just seem to know when they might just be needed and along with the delightful little Ellie they made our stay a perfect one. Set in a beautiful area of the Dordogne, it was a joy to drive to some of the neighbouring towns through the gently rolling countryside decorated with stunning sunflower fields and lush green vinyards. Our children loved the pool area and would have been more than happy to have spent the whole of our stay swimming in the pool and playing monopoly on the patio area. If "Le Pige" has a problem with it, that is it. You just don't want to leave it.
Needless to say we'll be coming back.

We booked Le Pigeonnier (Le Pige) for the first week in August hoping for a relaxing time in a great property in a beautiful location. We weren't disappointed - in fact Le Pige exceeded our hopes and we had an absolutely fantastic week. We have visited the Dordogne a number of times and usually dash around to see the many beautiful sights, but Le Peynau is so lovely we just wanted to stay in the gite and chill by the great pool. That said, Eymet and Duras were easy to get to and well worth visiting. Rachel, Chris and little Ellie were great hosts and gave us some excellent recommendations for local places to see. Le Pige was very well equipped and beautifully presented and the four of us were very comfortable. The setting was absolutely stunning, with views over fields of sunflowers to the woods beyond. We were blessed with superb weather, but understand from Rachel and Chris that we had typically warm weather with endless blue skies.
Needless to say, we would highly recommend Le Pige and Le Peynau and will definitely be returning.
Delightful Cottage in a peaceful location
One of the best equipped and well maintained cottages which we have stayed at. It is located in a picturesque rural setting overlooking fields and vineyards, yet is close to the historic market town of Eymet where a good range of shops and markets can be found. A large garden area provides privacy and the pool is an added bonus.
The hosts Chris and Rachel could not have been more helpful. We certainly enjoyed our stay and would like to return. The only regret was that the time went too quickly.
Sunday lunch in the next village is a treat not to be missed!
Beautiful, stunning, tranquil!
We had the loviest stay at Le Pigeonnier, looked after superbly by Chris, Rachel & Ellie. The website is great, but nothing compared to the real thing. Everything you need is provided. My children (boy 7 & girl 5) had a wonderful time, playing in the pool, treehouse, boules and table tennis. Amazing surroundings, so much space and beautiful settings! Highly recommended!
Perfect holiday destination!
Le Pige, as it is affectionately known, is an absolute delight. We stayed last year as well and, returning this year, did not disappoint. Le Pige has everything you need for an extremely comfortable stay with everything you need. The swimming pool is gorgeous and there's plenty of land to roam around in. A great place for adults and children alike with no shortage of games available to play such as badminton, table tennis and boules. I cannot speak highly enough of the owners, Rachel, Chris and not forgetting their delightful 3 year old daughter , Ellie. They are very kind, helpful and friendly. We love it so much, we definitely hope to return in 2016!
A lovely relaxing stay.
Le Pigeonnier is a pretty and very well maintained holiday destination perfect for a couple or a family. Our hosts were most helpful, always at hand when needed but discrete. The attractive local town of Eymet provides plenty of interest with local markets and places to eat. The surrounding countryside was beautiful for wildlife, walks and cycling. The pool was well maintained and there was plenty of room for two families to use.
