Located at the world famous La Manga Club, the detached El Rancho 123 is set in quiet, pretty, landscaped gardens overlooking a shared pool.The villa is recently refurbished and comprehensively fitted out with wifi, full air-conditioning and heating, sleeping 4 people in 2 twin bedded rooms (or 1 double and 1 twin). Cots and highchairs available to hire on request. The prime location provides fantastic views over the Mar Menor and Lion Hill from 2 sun terraces. The spectacular coastal scenery and many fine walks along the cliffs and through the wooded hills behind the club are 8 minutes walk away. Mountain bike hire is available on site. Situated 5 mins drive from the club beach, the property is within easy walking distance of 28 tennis courts and 3 championship golf courses, many other sports facilities, 15 restaurants, shops and bars. Rental of this villa entitles you to reduced fees for many sports facilities including golf. Deserted fine sandy beaches are 25 mins drive away through a nature reserve.

About the Owner

We live in Hertfordshire. I work in central London and Pauline is a teacher. Our family purchased the villa 10 years ago, and we have had many fabulous golfing, tennis and family holidays. We try to get out to the villa 4 or 5 times a year, and the villa is popular with our kids, their partners and friends. We are looking forward to spending much more time in the villa when we retire, so that we can really explore and enjoy the many walks in the area. We treasure the peaceful surroundings, barbecues on the terraces, and the wonderful swimming pool on the doorstep. Buying the villa was the best decision we have ever made in our lives and it gives us so much pleasure. Good Location

This was our first visit to La Manga Club, very happy we chose El Rancho and the villa was just right for us - well equipped throughout and right next to one of the communal pools. Enjoyed evenings eating on the main terrace off the lounge, and the spacious roof terrace holds modern, comfortable sun loungers...perfect! Kitchen has everything you could possibly need! Modern flat screen TV with good choice of channels. Our 12 year old son enjoyed walking to the main square (about 3/4 min walk) to buy an ice cream after mornings at the Golf Academy. Ate at La Finca and Undersun on their Flamenco evening - these were superb restaurants. A lovely stay, thank you!

El Rancho

I cannot recommend this villa more highly. It is very well equipped with tasteful furnishings and lovely bathrooms. The view from the terrace off the living area was fantastic. I hardly moved from the terrace and particularly spectacular at night.

The swimming pool was empty at 6pm at night and as the sun was still very high in the sky very pleasant to swim in.

One tiny niggle the hob could have had English instructions, it took a bit of working out.

I would thoroughly recommend this accomodation for a superb holiday.

We purchased the villa to escape the pressure of working in London and to enjoy many family holidays at one of Europe's most prestigious holiday and sporting destinations. There are few better golf courses in Europe than the 3 at the club, and the 28 tennis courts are second to none in Europe. There are over 15 restaurants within walking distance of the villa and a number of bars. Most visitors spend their entire holidays within the club, but there is much to see and do further afield:- Spectacular walks, bike rides in the hills and along the cliffs, and swimming from fabulous deserted sandy beaches less than 30 minutes drive through a nature reserve. The pretty fishing village of Cabo de Palos is 20 minutes from the villa. A visit to the historic Murcia and Cartagena is a must do!

Activity and Interests

Tennis, squash, gym, spa and bowls are very popular at La Manga Club and there are many tennis lessons and coaching sessions available.


The club beach is 30 minutes walk from the villa down an unsurfaced road that winds down the cliffs with spectacular views. There are remote fine sandy beaches 25 minutes drive from the villa at Calblanque. The roads are unmade, and the miles of sandy beaches are never crowded and often deserted. Very safe bathing for the young is available from the fine sandy shallowly sloping beaches on the Mar Menor. Water sports, diving, and boat hire are available from Cabo de Palos.


Murcia (St Javier) airport is 25 minutes drive away, and Alicante airport is just over an hour drive away. Madrid (Barrajas) airport is a 4 hour drive away. Hire cars and taxis are available on site.


Los Belones, the nearest town, is 5 minutes drive on roads through citrus fields, and has a wide range of restaurants and bars. Cartagena is 20 minutes drive away and has some fascinating historical sites, a fine harbour and fine shops. Murcia is a sophisticated and elegant city being 50 minutes drive away with fine shopping,department stores and a wonderful historical centre. The pretty fishing village of Cabo de Palos is 15 minutes drive away and has a large Sunday morning market.

La Manga Club lives up to it's reputation as being Europe's premier sporting resort, yet the El Rancho community provides a quiet, peaceful landscaped environment ideal for golfers, tennis players, guests seekig relaxation in the spa, and families at the heart of the club. The swimming pool is rarely crowded, and sun loungers are usually available even at the height of summer. The golf, bowls, tennis and squash courts are amongst the finest in Europe, and reduced fees for residents make these appealing. The club is self sufficient, and there is no need to venture outside the club, as it has banks, garage, over 15 restaurants, bars, 2 supermarkets, shops, car hire companies, doctors surgery, children's club for children aged 3 months to 12 years (high season). There is a shuttle bus that connects all the facilities and the beach. The Club's spa facility features a 25 metre indoor pool, saunas, jacuzzis, and a large gymnasium as well as many treatment rooms for health and beauty therapies. The tennis centre has 28 courts of differing surfaces. Some of these courts are floodlit. There is also short tennis, bowls and a large outdoor swimming pool. Horse riding, scuba diving, boat trips, mountain biking, sailing, and many other activities are available within and close to the club.

  • Notes on accommodation: The villa has been extensively re-furnished in 2012, and is fitted with reverse cycle air-conditioning to provide heat for those rare chilly winter evenings. The telephone will accept free incoming calls, and calls to other properties and facilities at La Manga club are free. The telephone exchange is 100 metres from the villa where internet access is available. Mobile telephone coverage is good. No pets. Outside: The large roof terrace has sun loungers, chairs and a drinks table as well as a sun umbrella. Access is from internal stairs. Outside lighting is provided. There are spectacular views of the Mar Menor, hills and swimming pool. The middle terrace has a substantial barbeque, table and seating for 6, with a sun umbrella and patio door access into the living room. Outside lighting. This terrace also has views of the Mar Menor and overlooks the swimming pool and childrens pool (15 metres away). The lower terrace is small and has 2 chairs. Patio doors with shutters lead to the master bedroom, and this patio has direct access to the swimming pools across gardens. Parking is immediately outside the villa, and the swimming pool is 15 metres from the rear patio doors across the villa's lawns. Beautiful landscaped gardens make the pool area and the El Rancho community a quiet and pretty location for a relaxing holiday. Guests can use any of the 9 El Rancho swimming pools. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included (please bring beach towels) and are changed weekly. Villa is cleaned before and after stay, with mid term change of towels and linen for 2 week lets. On site management provides local assistance when required. Other: A walk in cupboard provides additional storage and has an iron and ironing board. Built in barbeque on middle terrace with seating for 6.
