Apartment in Santa Ana, Es Castell, Menorca - Es Castell Is A Vibrant Little Town Close To Mahon And Overlooking Its Harbour

This airy bright apartment is in the Santa Ana area of Es Castell and is a two minute walk from Calas Fons and very close to all the amenities of Es Castell. This second floor apartment is very comfortably furnished throughout and benefits from remote controlled air conditioning in both lounge/dining room and both bedrooms. It has toilet and shower room downstairs and a bathroom upstairs. Living in Es Castell is very convenient for all modes of travel, there is water transport from Calas Fons and buses run to Mahon 1/2 hourly from Es Castell. The bus stop is 5 mins from the apartment. As Es Castell is a small town, there are plenty of small shops and restaurants and bars are never far away. You know you are in Spain because all the local cultures are maintained.

Comfortable apartment in a great location

We had a very enjoyable week staying in this clean, comfortable and well equipped apartment. It is in a quiet location within the complex with no traffic or street noise. The communal areas are well maintained and the pool had regular cleaning and maintenance during our stay.

The owners have provided many thoughtful home comforts, including WIFI, air conditioning, DVDs, books, jigsaws, tourist info, and a proper kettle and teapot! The property has a designated parking space in the underground garage area beneath the complex although using it may test your manoeuvring skills. We found it OK for our hire car (VW Gulf) and there was plenty of unrestricted road side parking available locally as an alternative.

The location of the apartment is very convenient with a supermarket across the road (sells fresh milk), and a PO, cashpoint, bus stop and taxi rank are all close at hand. It was a short stroll to the lovely harbourside of Cala Fons with a wide range of tempting waterside restaurants.

The weather was pleasantly warm all week and perfect for the coastal walks that we had planned using the Cami de Cavalls. This is a "round the island" path, and is well signposted and way marked with numbered posts.

The booking process and subsequent communications with Lynda were friendly, prompt and efficient. Many thanks to Lynda and her family for letting us share this lovely apartment and we would have no hesitation in returning or recommending it to others.

home from home - with a view

like the previous reviewer this is our 2nd stay at this wonderful duplex apartment. Lynda made sure that like last year everything went smoothly with the booking process. The apartment has a great location with views of the harbour and Cala es Fonts from the balcony and kitchen area. It's only a 5 minute walk to the restaurants here - and they are mainly very good eateries - its only another 5 minute walk to swim in the harbour which we did in the evening after the beach and before dinner. The apartment itself is very comfortably appointed and in a block that accommodates holiday makers as well as Menorcan residents which gives it a more homely and integrated feel than a villa or hotel. We love Menorca having visited more than 20 times and we particularly love Es Castell and the accommodation here. We'd like to thank Lynda and her family for her hospitality in making her wonderful apartment available and look forward to visiting again in the future

Great apartment in good location

This was our 2nd year at this wonderful apartment and can thoroughly recommend it. Excellent easy contact with the owner prior to travel and during our stay.

The apartment is very comfortable and spacious and the kitchen is well equipped should you wish to cater for yourselves. There are some nice touches, such as beach towels and sun beds for your use, as well as a cool bag so if you hire a car as we did, you can easily pack up for a good day out to a nearby beach. We loved Cala Galdana which is in easy reach.

The apartment is very quiet despite being so central.

Supermarket opposite and a minute to the beautiful harbour of Cala Fonts where we enjoyed our evenings eating or watching the world go by.

We often caught the bus from the top of the road into Mahon which is a lovely town to wander around. It's just a 10 min ride and from there you can catch a bus to almost anywhere on the island if you wish to travel further afield.

All I can say is we are looking forward to another visit!

Well equipped, spacious apartment

Stayed at the apartment in July 2015, communication from the owner was great throughout. The apartment is very spacious for a two bed, being spread over two floors (bedrooms and bathroom upstairs, lounge, kitchen and shower room downstairs). Rooms have nice, high ceilings and balconies. Each bedroom has an air conditioning unit and there's another in the lounge too meaning rooms can be at temperatures to suit. The two communal pools are a good size and the location of the apartment could not have been better. We had a super time time and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Great Apartment

Just had a lovely week in Menorca staying at this great apartment ideally situated close to everything.

Nice touches in respect of the provision of bathing towels, cool bags and chairs for the beach.

We will happily use again when we return

Es Castell

This is a fabulous apartment in a great location. We have just returned having stayed for 2 weeks. The apartment is spotlessly clean and has everything you could need for an enjoyable holiday. It is very well equipped and in an excellent location. The lounge is spacious and overlooks the pools as do the balconies and are lovely places to relax. The lounge and bedrooms have their own separate air conditioning units which we found essential in the heat of July. It really is only a few hundred yards to Calasfonts with all the many restaurants and the waterfront. You couldn't get a better location and a car is not essential. Mahon is easy to get to by bus or taxi (6 euro) and the airport is less than 15 mins by taxi (15 euro). The owners were very good and there was excellent communication before the holiday. We really enjoyed our holiday and are so glad we chose this apartment.

Location

From the Owner

Having spent many hugely enjoyable holidays in Menorca since the 70's, we decided to buy. Carefully considering all our options we decided upon Es Castell because this beautiful location offers an array of splendid restaurants and bars conveniently located nearby. Buses run every 30 minutes making the 5-10 minute journey into Mahon which is the central hub for the whole island. This is very convenient for those who do not wish to drive while on holiday.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

Most beaches are accessible by car in approx 25-45 minutes.

Travel:

Mahon airport is approximately 15 minutes from the apartment. In Es Castell a car is not essential because public transport is reliable with bus service half hourly into Mahon which is the hub of the bus services. Should you prefer to have a car, we can recommend reliable car hire.

Distances:

2km from Mahon. Mahon harbour with its beautiful yachts and craft can be reached even by walking - approximately 25 minutes.

Further Details:

Calas Fons has a rich local history and there are frequent local 'fiestas' where you can enjoy the spectacular displays of horsemanship as well as carnival rides and attractions (and not forgetting the local pomada - gin and lemon).

There are a good number of local shops in Es Castell, e.g. butcher, fishmonger, bakers, bank and even a shop where you can fetch a meal home, ready cooked.

Plenty of bars, tapas bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and price ranges.

There are also fiestas held in most towns throughout the summer, they are well worth a visit, soak up the atmosphere. Es Castell fiesta is normally held in July dates can be confirmed later.

The property is in our opinion in an excellent position within the complex because it is within the outside buildings and because of this it benefits from lack of traffic noise and it is very quiet indoors. We choose to have good quality furniture, bedlinen, duvets and towels because we enjoy comfort and we don't go along with the "it's only for rental attitude". Our guests commented last year how the air conditioning is a godsend.
