About the property

Apartment in Burgau, Western Algarve, Portugal - Peaceful Location Just 6 Minutes Walk To Safe Swimming And Sunbathing Beach And Super Beach Bar

The apartment is in a secure walled complex with a lovely pool with decking.The gardens are planted sympathetically with all native herbs and lavender, with grass , olive,rosemary and lemon trees around the perimeter. The apartments 3 bedrooms all have balconies or a private terrace all furnished with high spec outside furniture. There is a dining terrace over looking the pool with a wooden table and 8 chairs. The complex is on the eastern start of the St. Vincent national park that extends westward to the cape of St. Vincent. Burgau,itself ,is on the start of the national park and there arewonderful walks through and this area of the park. This is not a formal park, but an area of outstanding beauty that has many small villages and stunning beaches. We love Ingrina, granma does the cooking at this lovely cove just a drive up the road. Burgau has a good beach, beach bar and many good restaurants too. Best curry ever at Spice Cottage.

About Steph

We are an expanding family with 4 children and 6 grand children.We have a design led apartment that can sleep 6 in Burgau,Western Algarve (P8558)minutes from the beach in a beautiful area for walking and beach holidays, suits 2 - 6. we ,normally,go away in the winter so both places are kitted out for living and entertaining. Our family visits both places all the time and I can really recommend both places with no reservations.Our large family house in Swanage sleeps6 in 3 bedrooms and then 4 more in attic.it's very relaxed, beach meets shabby chic.we also gave s lovely beach hut available for rent along with our house .,we go away in the summer and other school holidays joining our family wherever they decide to go through Europe. A lot of Swanage do this and all our kids let their homes to pay for extended family holidays ! So this really is our home suited for three generational living with a blouse garden .

Why Steph chose Vila Do Bispo region

This site is just 400 metres from the beach. It probably is the best located apartments in Burgau as you can leave the car in the cool underground carpark and just walk to the beach and to some of the best restaurants around. We always visit in the winter so we need the car to go to our favourite beaches at Ingrina and Zavial just 10 minutes down the coast in the direction of Sagres.My personal choice is to explore, at leisure ,all the restaurants and cafes in the area! We have had a super summer(2012) with lots of lovely comments and reviews.7 lots of families have rebooked for 2013 and 2014 in Burgau and were pleased to have returnees in our family home in Swanage

We have added,this year a slow cooker and hair dryer in both places and an ice-cream maker in Burgau.wifi Has been installed in Portugal and Swanage.

What makes this apartment unique

This location can be the kick off point to all manner of activities.As I have fully explored what is on offer here from April to October I have been amazed at the great diversity of adventure stuff available.I just go to cafes, restaurants and more beaches! You can ...locally, go horse riding, scuba diving, dolphin watching, sailing, kayaking and just on the road to lagos(we're talking 6 minutes down the road) is a fabulous gym and golf complex that you can join daily or weekly.Golf clubs are available for hire too. This has tired me out just writing about all you can do. Just get in touch and I can organise it and put you in touch with all the stuff to get you started! I need to tell you if new legislation in Portugal . Now by law we have to have before your arrival your names addresses , passport numbers , which passport office , date of birth .

I need flight details and she's in party . These details are passed on to my accountant and then to immigration . Be aware when one lets in Portugal one must have a letting license .,also public liability insurance and then these details in order to be legal and pay local taxes . We are retired so the taxes are minimal so we include those in the cost .

If you are not asked for these details you may not be insured ! We are fined if we do not have these details entered with our accountant in the same month as letting . Notes:
Notes on accommodation: wifi is now ,available in the apartment and Steph will let you gave the code on final payment. A travel cot is available and is stored in the top mezzanine cupboard at no extra charge. A high chair is available also.Extra cleans can be organised with our local lady should you require that during your stay, at your cost. Sometimes it's just lovely to have that extra bit of help.Babysitting can be organised and also if you need some shopping arranged. I always leave carton of UHT milk in cupboard and bread in the freezer. Just replace these if you use them it means you can have a cuppa on arrival,I will send you our friend's email so any extras you can sort with her. There is a good hair dryer in bedroom 1. Outside: The small complex is set in grassy areas with views to the hills. There are herbs and lavender planted throughout hence the name 'aromas'. Olive and lemon trees dot the area and perimeter. The shared pool is a good size and was a great success with our grandchildren even over Christmas 2009! There are sunbeds and a square table set up on the private terrace and a big table and 8 chairs on the balcony overlooking the pool. There is a large patio umbrella and 2 bases for protecting you in both dining areas from the overhead sun.There are balconies or terrace on each bedroom.so you can have sun or shade through out the day.we tend to breakfast on the back balcony,tea on the top terrace,and dinner on the front terrace with the large parasol protecting us while we eat. Lovely. The front terrace has sun all afternoon into the evening. Very important to us when we chose this apartment. We love evening sun. Utility Room: The kitchen has its own small balcony perfect for discreetly drying your smalls and the beach towels after a long day on the beach or in the pool!there are some inflatable rings stored here for your use.Also in the chest are parasols ,buckets and spades. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included and are of top quality Egyptian cotton. There are owners beach towels that can be borrowed washed and replaced in the wardrobe if required. The apartment is cleaned and managed by a local lady. Other: There are security electric blinds on all windows, useful to keep the bedrooms dark for our children to sleep! A system is in place, should that allows air-con or heating to modify any extremes in temperature. There is underground parking for a cool car.

Had a fabulous fortnight in this lovely appartment it has everything a family of six plus two babies could need. The owner was first class as was Helen who cares for the residents. I would go back tomorrow. Burgau has been drawing me back for 10 years and I'll probably still be heading there for another ten. Just love the pace of life. Gwen.

Our main concern is that we want our apartment to be the best it can be . In the past we have been in apartments that just lacked that wow factor and a general lack of the good things . We have really endeavored to show that we love our apartment and treasure it . All our guests have shown that this has really paid off . We only let in the summer months as we live in Dorset anyway , on the beach in Swanage . So we go early and late season to Burgau . We want all the mod cons and fully fitted and equipped kitchen even if we eat out all the time ! We want equipment , cutlery and china to entertain stylishly. We wanted lovely towels and top quality beds and bedding . The beds are so good we ended up replacing all our beds at home in UK and getting these sent over to Dorset from Portugal . Our lovely housekeeper is our friend ,caring and thoughtful and prepared to go that extra mile to make my life easier through some difficult times in our family and that's also to go that extra for us in our apartment for our guests . We're not in this for the money. We're in this to have a fab quality of life with our family and lots of families returning year on year , sometimes twice in one year . It's just lovely in Burgau and we've tried very hard to reflect this in our apartment . We have a growing family .. Six grandchildren and we want to be able to relax in the best possible way . Fabulous Apartment

Have stayed in this apartment many times, cannot fault it. All you need for a fantastic Holiday. Close to village, shops, bars, restaurants but far away to be peaceful and quiet. Caravela recently re-opened, very good. Esquina good too. Smugglers and Bar One great little bars. Owner and Agent will look after you and sort all your needs. Access to lovely clean pool. Cannot recommend highly enough, book it.

Too many holidays spent on accommodation, saying wish that was here or this was better ! We set out to have this apartment how we would want it in terms of style and also the extra factors so if you want to have a dinner party or just friends round for drinks there's the extra equipment and style needed . Info love a gadget too so this year's addition was a snazzy Nutri Bullit ! We've added or replaced pieces year on year to make it the best we can . So when we go too it's exactly how WE like it . Peaceful and well equipped holiday apartment

The apartment is literally a five minute walk into Burgau so a brilliant location for our family.

The fixtures and fittings are top class and the beds very comfortable . There are two balconies and a private flat roof to enjoy the sunshine and quiet.. There is a good sized pool shared between approx ten apartments . The shutters on all windows give great security and the underground car park is a bonus in the heat . Spacious , comfortable and great value for money .

Communication with the owner was prompt and friendly throughout.

Owner's Response: So pleased you enjoyed our apartment. Another wonderful review , justifying all the hard work in getting this apartment how we like to find it ! That was our remit .. Just have the best soaring we could find .,we looked for ages but this apartment ticked all the boxes .. 169 square metres , far bigger than anything else we looked at , terrace or balcony off every room , best beds we could find , best bed linen , best equipment . Who wants to go away on holiday and have LESS than at home , of course not so that's what we tried to achieve . Judging by our lovely reviews we are just about there ! A full length mirror was suggested , we always ask for feed back and this is something we never thought about so thank you for that ,, we're travelling down soon so will bring that with us . Thanks due once again to our lovely friend that looks after the apartment too . Once again many thanks and hope to see you next year . Steph and John .,

we had a wonderful week - weather glorious and the apartment was close to the beach and had everything you needed! A balcony to every room, 3 bathrooms and wonderful kitchen - so well equipped! Apartment was exceptionally clean! Loved washing machine and washing line on top balcony! I would recommend this beautiful, modern, spacious rental!

Owner's Response: Just so rewarding when you achieve a review like this time and time again. It confirms that we were right to just go that step further in design and quality. We decided when we bought and furnished this apartment that we would have it completed to the way we would like to do it without any compromise over quality . We knew we would be letting and we have been so justified in that decision . Also we have our lovely friend looking after our apartment as if it was her own ! It just works . Superbly equipped apartment

Spacious comfortable apartment which has just about everything you could need. The owner Steph couldn't be more helpful and responds promptly to all enquiries. Very comfortable superking bed in main bedroom. Good wi-fi. The underground car park is very useful for keeping car cool. Electric blinds on all windows good for security, and keep apartment cool during day ( we only needed to use the air-con on a couple of v warm nights). Balconies front and rear mean you can sunbathe all day if you wish. Complex has well maintained garden and grounds. Easy 10 min walk to Burgau beach and restaurants.

A home rather than a rental...

A wonderful apartment with much thought, love and care put into furnishing it. It really feels like being in someone's home rather than a rental. Everything you could think of to enjoy a holiday is provided.Small things like beach equipment and a cooler box to fleece blankets to throw over you whilst watching a DVD are in the apartment. The situation of the apartment is excellent, a short stroll to town and the beach. There is sun throughout the day on a variety of balconies and our teenage son loved his mezzanine room.

There is a welcome folder with advice on restaurants, beaches etc and explanation on appliance usage.

Thank you Steph for being so helpful in our holiday planning and for your wonderful apartment, we plan to return next year.

Location

Coast/Beach:

Burgau is an old world fishing village. The beach is 6 minutes walk away so leave the car at the apartment and just walk around the village it is a safe cove ideal for swimming and generally messing about in the water. There are 2 local shops that open all the time and even a small baker. Mornings only. There are good walks, lazy to experienced rambler, east to Salema into the national park and west to Luz, easy, and on to Lagos all along the coast.

Travel:

Faro is the local airport and the apartment is 1hr 10 minutes easy drive. There is a service that can pick you up to and from the airport as the local buses can get you around if you dont want to drive. There are very reasonable local taxi services if you walk out and want to taxi home. Car hire can be arranged through local agent if required.

Distances:

n125 travels east and west parallel to the coast so travelling west to the cape is a lovely drive of 40 minutes passing good local supermarkets and villages. Lagos is 12 minutes drive east and has huge, long beaches with interesting beach bars and restaurants and award winning design fish market. There are local car boots most Sundays and weekly markets held in most villages. This area is equally lovely in the winter months with lots of interesting things to do. Luz has swings at the beach bar.

Further Details:

There are the themed water parks 40 minutes away .there is a small office in Burgau that can arrange the trips for you. There are boats going from Lagos along the coast and to the local grottos to see the swimming dogs. Our favourite beaches and restaurants are Ingrinaa and Zavial just along on the n125. If you need retail therapy there is Algarve shopping at Portimau 40 minutes up the coast. You can get most food items at Ecomarche on the westN125 or into Luz Baptista has a huge range of UK and European foodstuffs. There is entertainment in the bars locally if you should want it but the main attraction is the lovely views and fresh fish. We have a full folder of good local restaurants, places of interest and calendar of markets and flea and gypsy markets. Lots to do or just chill!

I have been sent a directive from my accountant asking me for this information . Actually it's not so strange as when you check into a European hotel you do hand over your passport and I guess that what the receptionist takes as info but I have never done that for self catering so I can only apologise . Actually it does make sense that they need to know who is in the country so this does that .so if you could send me these details as set out

. I will need these details preferably at least a month before you arrive and I would appreciate actually as soon as possible so I can put this to bed as due to have quite major operation in the next month !!
